U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will hold trade talks with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and other senior officials in Madrid next week. They are also expected to discuss the status of TikTok and efforts to combat money laundering.

00:10The agenda is expected to include the status of Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok
00:15as well as joint efforts to combat money laundering.
00:20The meetings are part of Besson's trips to Spain and Britain from September 12th to 18th.
00:26It will be the fourth round of face-to-face discussions between the two top economic officials this year
00:32aimed at upholding a trade truce.
00:35The agreement has so far involved lower retaliatory tariffs
00:38and the resumption of Chinese rare earth exports to the U.S.
00:42In late July, both sides extended their tariff pause for 90 days, set to expire on November 10th.
00:49TikTok, however, was not raised during the July talks.
00:52President Donald Trump, whose White House launched its own account on the platform last month,
00:57has extended a deadline for TikTok's parent company, Bydance,
01:01to divest its U.S. assets until September 17th or face a potential ban.
