00:00Hello, I'm Louise Birch and I've been the project lead for Newlands Primary Academy for the University of Chichester Academy Trust, which Newlands Primary Academy is part of.
00:11So we're absolutely delighted that we've opened in September and we're welcoming the butterflies into our new reception class.
00:22So we have reception for first form entry, which is a class of 30 and we do have spaces.
00:30So if anyone's interested, we'd love to show you around.
00:34It's been a really exciting time that we weren't too sure whether who was more excited, the staff, the parents or the children hop skipping and jumping into our class.
00:47It's been a two and a half year journey, but it's spectacular.
00:52Bright and airy rooms and a natural environment, very calming, but joyful and a perfect place for children to learn and develop.
01:05So tell me a little bit about moving forward.
01:08So obviously we've got the reception year coming in.
01:11In terms of moving forward and getting other year groups in, tell us the sort of...
01:17So we've been working with Hampshire County Council and they've spent time looking at the demographics and so they've asked us to open to reception and then next year, year one and so on and so forth.
01:32That'll be a first form entry and then we'll move in about three years time to go to a one and a half form entry.
01:39Our school has been built as a two form entry, so that's two classes per year group and we've got the wonderful facilities for a two form entry.
01:52And so if we want to in the future, we can put some additional classes in.
01:57But in the meantime, the children have got an amazing experience where we've got some wonderful playing facilities and areas which are magnificent and quite large for our academy.
02:13So tell me why people should bring their children to Newlands.
02:18So Newlands Primary Academy is part of the University of Jutisra Academy Trust and we have a partner school, Beelwood Primary School, about 10 minutes away, which is part of our trust as well.
02:32And so we've been working with the community and understand what the community want, but it's really important that we continue to engage.
02:40Newlands Primary Academy was built because there was a really beautiful field of development.
02:47There's a further two and a half thousand houses being built on the development, so with Hampshire County Council, they've identified a need for places in the school and we're very much here to serve the Newlands College.
