00:13Sarawak. Speaking at the launch of the second phase of the project in Nanga Medahmeet on Thursday,
00:19Anwar said the federal government recognized the long-standing transportation difficulties in the
00:24region, particularly due to limited road access and challenging terrain. He said he had to take
00:30a helicopter ride from Miri to Limbang passing through Brunei to get there for the event,
00:36which illustrated how difficult it was for the people who are living there. He was joined by
00:41other guests at the event, including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadila Youssef and Sarawak
00:47Premier Tanshri Abang Johari Tun Openg. The second phase of the project, costing an estimated 7.6
00:54billion ringgit, will span 335 kilometres, linking Mulu, Nanga Medahmeet, Longluping and Bakelalan.
01:03Scheduled for completion in 2029, the project will involve the construction of roads, bridges,
01:10viaducts, street lighting and drainage systems. The first phase, which runs from lawas to
01:15Longluping, began in 2021 and it is 57.6% completed.
