00:07following an explosion and fire involving a helicopter during an engine run-up test on Saturday afternoon.
00:14Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia CAAM, Chief Executive Officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmood,
00:22said the incident occurred at taxiway Victor at about 12.28 p.m.,
00:27prompting a temporary suspension of flight operations.
00:30He said the runway was reopened to air traffic at 2.57 p.m.
00:35and advised passengers to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates.
00:40During the closure, eight inbound flights were diverted to other airports,
00:45while three departing flights were delayed.
00:48The incident involved a Kamov Ka-32S helicopter owned by a Ukraine-registered company.
00:54The aircraft caught fire during a ground-engine run-up test conducted as part of maintenance activities.
01:01Four Ukrainian men, the pilot, co-pilot and two crew members, were conducting the maintenance at the time.
01:08One suffered minor injuries after being struck by shrapnel.
01:12CAAM said the Air Accident Investigation Bureau, AAIB, under the Transport Ministry,
01:18would investigate the incident under Part 26 of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
