Brad Fitt chats to the Shropshire Star about the forthcoming panto Dick Whittington, at Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury.
Transcript
00:00So I'm here at Theatre 7 with Brad Fitt for the cast launch for this year's Pantomime, Dick Whittington.
00:08Brad, back again. The fun never stops for you in Shrewsbury.
00:11The fun never stops, no. No, we're back here again.
00:13My 15th year at Theatre 7, but 14th Panto because of the Covid year.
00:20But I did do something during the Covid year when we didn't have a Panto.
00:23But yeah, 15th year back in Shrewsbury.
00:27And what have you got for us this time?
00:28Well, I can't even tell. I'm Dame Dolly this year in Dick Whittington.
00:32Dick Whittington is my favourite Pantomime title of all time.
00:36It's got everything, Dick Whittington. It's one of the most traditional stories.
00:40And I love it. It's got everything.
00:43And what about your fellow cast members then? So you've got Tommy Rolison back.
00:49Tommy's back. Can't get rid of him. Tommy's back playing my son, I think.
00:54If he's not in the script, my son, I'll soon make him my son.
00:58And yeah, we've just met the cast today. So we're about to go and do some photos and things like that.
01:04And it's the first time we all get together and size each other up and see what you're working with.
01:09But they all seem lovely.
01:10Yeah, looking forward to this year. Do you think you've got a nice, talented group to work with once again?
01:15Oh yeah, wonderful. Yeah, we're just about to go and do all the pictures and they're all great.
01:23We've just been chatting backstage just like we will be in panto, you know, getting to know each other, sharing anecdotes, stories, all that sort of stuff.
01:30When you do a pantomime like this and you get thrust together for Christmas, you become like a family.
01:38You know, you argue, you fight and you get sick of the sight of each other, but you're a family.
01:44OK, so why should the people of Shropshire come out and see you guys this year?
01:49Because pantomime's that time of the year. Well, it's Christmas. Everyone loves Christmas.
01:54And it's the time of the year that you can all come together.
01:56It doesn't matter if you're four or 40 or 84 or whatever.
02:00The whole family can enjoy pantomime.
02:02So you can come from the great-grandparents right down to the kids.
02:05It's one of the few shows or genres of shows where you can have an entire family and there's something for everyone.
