00:00Trying to turn a new leaf after months of horror, Ahmed Hajjali recently arrived in
00:06the Al Daba refugee camp after fleeing the besieged city of El Fasher.
00:12We left El Fasher last week because of the situation in the city.
00:17We face daily shelling and humiliation.
00:20The situation is really difficult, there's no medicine, no food, people are suffering
00:24a lot.
00:27The last holdout of the Sudanese army in northern Darfur, El Fasher has been under
00:32siege for over a year and is now nearly completely surrounded by RSF fighters.
00:38With almost no supplies coming in or out, the city is facing acute shortages of all basic
00:43necessities.
00:45Witnesses say hospitals have run out of supplies and pockets of famine have begun to spread,
00:51forcing residents to eat animal feed.
00:54Ambas is made from the leftovers of peanut oil manufacturing.
00:58We usually feed it to cows, but we've been eating it for the past three months.
01:04Around half a million people have fled El Fasher since the fighting began, but hundreds of thousands
01:09remain trapped inside the city, unable to afford the costly fees smugglers require to get them
01:15out safely.
01:16People have no money to get out because travelling is very costly.
01:23That's why people are forced to stay there, we left them behind.
01:28El Fasher has become one of the main front lines of the Sudanese conflicts, as the rapid support
01:33forces look to consolidate their hold on northern Darfur.
01:37The paramilitary group recently announced the creation of a parallel government and began
01:42appointing ministers last month.
