00:00Over one million people have been displaced in Lebanon, an unprecedented figure and direct
00:05consequence of the ongoing military escalation between Israel and Hezbollah. Faced with this
00:11crisis, authorities are trying to organize their response. At the Grand Serai, the seat of government
00:18in Beirut, coordination is intensifying. Between meetings, the Social Development Minister receives
00:24us in her office. Every day at 10am, the Prime Minister gathers all ministers in the Grand Serai.
00:34All administrations are present, and coordination happens directly between ministries. I personally
00:41spend most of my time there. It has become the coordination hub for all institutions,
00:47with the Disaster Management Unit, where all ministries are represented.
00:55Inside the building, teams are working at full speed. Requests are pouring in,
01:00information is being continuously recorded, and the situations of displaced people are handled
01:05case by case. Today, most basic needs are being met in the shelters. The main challenge now is fuel.
01:13We need to provide diesel to ensure these centers can operate. We are also encouraging displaced
01:19people to move to regions outside Beirut, particularly in the north, in Tripoli or in the Beka,
01:25where centers are better equipped. At the heart of the response is the Disaster Management Unit.
01:32It brings together state representatives, security services and humanitarian organizations
01:37to coordinate aid in real time. The central operations room has been activated at the Grand
01:43Serai. It brings together representatives from all ministries, public institutions, the Red Cross,
01:48the United Nations and international organizations. Our role is to ensure coordination between all
01:54these parties and risk management units. To monitor developments on a daily basis,
01:59teams continuously centralize and update data.
02:08This daily report includes the number of shelters open, their capacity, the total number of displaced
02:14people, those present in shelters and those registered on the platform. It also includes updated figures on
02:20the number of victims and injured, both cumulative and daily. But on the ground, pressure remains high.
02:30Shelters are overcrowded and resources are limited. A humanitarian crisis is taking hold,
02:36one that continues to put authorities under strain.
