00:00Semiconductors and Statecraft both were on display here at the Semicon Network Summit in Taipei,
00:06held one day before the opening of one of the world's largest chip industry events.
00:12Officials and industry leaders from across Asia, Europe, North America and beyond
00:16shared the stage with those from Taiwan, including President Lai Ching-de,
00:20and the message was partnership.
00:30As AI sends chip demand soaring, Taiwan's firms are expanding global operations
00:42while navigating trade uncertainty.
00:45One leader of a national research center co-hosting this event says
00:49that's why cross-border collaboration is essential.
00:51I keep saying that Semiconductor is now built on top of one single company,
00:58one single technology.
01:00It's really a supply chain.
01:01It's a partnership around the world.
01:04And this is going to create a very positive impact of the entire world
01:08to work together for semiconductor industry to move forward.
01:12I think this is not competition.
01:14This is the place we build a partnership and, of course, the friendship.
01:19Other topics at the event included the future of AI chips
01:22and how to foster semiconductor talent.
01:25This forum and Semicon as a whole aim to show that when it comes to chips,
01:30capacity matters, but trust and friendship may matter more.
