Football writer Graham Falk reports following Scotland under-21s defeat to Portugal under-21s at Fir Park.
Transcript
00:00A tough result for Scotland under-21s tonight who lose 2-0 to Portugal.
00:06A second defeat in succession in the European under-21 Championship qualifiers group B.
00:11It leaves Scotland in fifth place while Portugal go top on goal difference after the win here at Fair Park.
00:18If I'm completely honest, a game that Scotland weren't really in.
00:22An early goal for Moura after 19 minutes sort of set the tone early for the game for Scotland
00:28and also for Portugal who looked like a far superior team.
00:32They had £40m midfielder Fernandes in the midfield who's just signed for West Ham United
00:37whereas Scotland's team didn't quite have the same quality and it did show.
00:42The game itself had a couple of chances for Diero Mabude.
00:46One opportunity where he could have passed it to Finlay Curtis.
00:49He could have gone through on goal and perhaps done a little bit better
00:51but the pass was actually a little bit over-hit
00:54and then a chance later on after that from Diero Mabude again.
00:58Brought out a good block from the Portugal goalkeeper.
01:01But the second half kind of followed a similar pattern to the first really quick goal
01:07and the second half from Roger Fernandes on the 54th or 55th minute I believe it was.
01:12Sort of settled it there and then and then the game really petered out.
01:15A red card at the end for the aforementioned Fernandes
01:19who like I say just signed for £40m for West Ham United from Southampton.
01:24He was shown a red card for a second bookable offence, a red card for a late tackle on David Watson.
01:31It was a second yellow, deserved red card but that was about as good as it got.
01:36It's been 29 years since Scotland Under-21s have qualified for the European Championships
01:42and with two defeats in the first two games it's a monumental task already.
01:46But this is Graeme Falky I'll have all the reaction on thescotsman.com to the game
01:51alongside the microphone keep up to date with that
01:53and we'll have everything for you as soon as we get.
