00:00Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is stepping up pressure on Israel with a series of new measures aimed at ending the war in Gaza.
00:09The moves include a ban on Israel-bound ships and aircraft carrying weapons from using Spanish ports or airspace.
00:17His administration also issued a travel ban on individuals Sanchez says are directly involved in the genocide in Gaza.
00:25He noted that Spain has already maintained a de facto arms export ban on Israel since 2023, but the government will now make it permanent.
00:36Madrid will also block ships transporting fuel for Israeli forces from docking at its ports and ban aircraft carrying defence material from entering Spanish airspace.
00:46Other steps include banning imports from illegal Israeli settlements, limiting consular services in occupied territories, and boosting Spain's presence in Rafah with additional troops and humanitarian projects.
00:59Spain will also increase its contribution to the United Nations Palestinian Refugees Agency by 10 million euros and commit 150 million euros in aid for Gaza in 2026.
