00:00Hockey great Emma Hendren has waited more than 50 years.
00:05Today, as 77, Malaysia's 1972 Sportsman of the Year finally received the RM5,000 he was promised.
00:15The sum was handed over by Kedah Hockey Association President Rodhaniza Madradzi
00:20on behalf of Malaysian Hockey Confederation Chief Subahan Kamau.
00:24This came just days after cycling legend Eng Jungan, the 1970 winner,
00:30was told he will get the RM4,500 balance of his award, 55 years late.
00:36Mahindran said,
00:38After so many years, it feels like justice has finally arrived.
00:43He had earlier revealed he received only RM170.
00:47Another RM2,000 went to a non-Sporting Heroes fund.
00:51The rest was meant for his 17 teammates.
00:55None got a cent.
00:57With Mahindran repaid and Eng next in line,
00:59momentum is building.
01:01Badminton and bowling officials have reached out to Sylvia Eng and JB Koo to resolve their cases.
01:07But athletics, with nine unpaid winners, has only promised a task force.
01:13The struggle for recognition is not over.
01:16For every Mahindran repaid, others still wait.
