Typhoon Peipah destroys at least 220 buildings, injures 23 in Japan's Shizuoka - local media

Strong gusts of wind from Typhoon Peipah destroys at least 220 buildings in Shizuoka Prefecture on Sept. 5, 2025, injuring 23 people, according to public broadcaster NHK. Video from local media showed roofs torn off houses and vehicles toppled over. Peipah was downgraded to a tropical storm around 9 p.m. local time (1200 GMT) on Sept. 5 off the east coast of Japan, NHK reported.
