00:00Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
00:04And Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Secretary, you may make your opening statement at this time.
00:10Thank you, Chairman Cravo, and thank you, Ranking Member Wyden.
00:15The invitation would be here before the committee today.
00:18Before I summarize what we've accomplished this year at HHS,
00:22I want to express my deepest condolence to the family of DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose,
00:28who gave his life to stop the gunfire attack on the CDC on August 8th.
00:35Officer Rose was a veteran. He was a husband and the father of two children.
00:41Officer Rose's widow, whom I visited, is expecting their third child.
00:47I'd like Officer Rose's family to know that he remains in our prayers
00:52and that he will continue to be in our thoughts.
00:55Let me start with the big picture.
00:57Under President Trump's leadership, we at HHS are enacting a once-in-a-generation shift
01:03from a sick care system to a true health care system
01:07that tackles the root causes of chronic disease.
01:11Chronic disease has reached crisis proportions in our country.
01:14And finally, we have an administration that is taking action.
01:17The Maha Report assessment, which the White House released in May,
01:22was the first government analysis of the key drivers of childhood chronic disease.
01:28Ultra-processed foods, chemical exposures, physical inactivity, and over-medicalization.
01:36This month, we will follow with the Maha Report strategy,
01:39the Trump administration's solution for addressing each cause.
01:43At HHS, we haven't just been writing reports.
01:48We have been the busiest, most proactive administration in HHS history.
01:54In just half a year, we've taken on food dyes, baby formula contamination,
01:59contamination, the grass loophole, fluoride in our drinking water,
02:05gas station heroin, electronic cigarettes, drug prices,
02:09prior authorization, information blocking.
02:11The committee will come to order.
02:25I apologize to you for that outburst, Secretary Kennedy.
02:38I would notify everyone else in the audience.
02:41Comments from the audience are inappropriate.
02:45If there are any further disruptions,
02:48the committee will recess until the police can restore order.
02:51Mr. Secretary, please proceed.
02:54As I was saying, prior authorization, information blocking,
02:58and health care interoperability,
03:01we're ending gain-of-function research, child mutilation,
03:05and reducing animal testing.
03:08We are addressing cell phone use in schools,
03:11excessive screen time for youth,
03:14the lack of nutrition education in our medical schools,
03:18sickle cell anemia, hepatitis C,
03:21the East Palestine chemical spill, and many, many others.
03:24At FDA, we are now on track to approve more drugs this year
03:30than at any time in history.
03:33I'm also proud to say that HHS under President Trump
03:36is doing more with less.
03:39We have taken measures to fight waste, fraud, and abuse.
03:42Just by eliminating duplicative enrollments in CMS,
03:46we are saving taxpayers $14 billion a year.
03:50Meanwhile, we are expanding access for people who need it.
03:55We are ending races, diversity, equity, and inclusion practices,
03:59and instead focusing on aiding low-income and vulnerable families,
04:04regardless of their race,
04:07which was the original intent of Title X.
04:11We're also pouring a billion dollars into Head Start
04:14and the administration for children and families.
04:17Compassion need not be the casualty of efficiency.
04:21I'd like to highlight some issues
04:23that have not gotten media attention.
04:26First, we are doing our part
04:27to fill the president's commitment
04:30to stop human trafficking, especially of children.
04:34We inherited a terrible humanitarian crisis
04:37from the previous administration
04:38with its open border policies,
04:40which allowed the appalling loss
04:43of 476,000 unaccompanied children.
04:48We have implemented policies now
04:50to ensure that that appalling tragedy
04:52can never happen again.
04:54We have knocked on 82,000 doors
04:57and located 22,000 of those children.
05:01I promise you that we will do more
05:03in the next three years.
05:05We are also addressing
05:07the disastrous health conditions
05:08in tribal communities
05:10on Native American reservations.
05:13I've met face-to-face with tribal leaders
05:16in dozens of communities and tribes
05:19in Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, New Mexico, and elsewhere.
05:23And I look forward to making HHS resources
05:26more available to those communities.
05:29One of the most significant initiatives
05:32under President Trump
05:33is the Rural Health Transformation Fund,
05:36part of the president's big, beautiful bill,
05:38which will provide the greatest investment
05:40of federal money into rural health care in history.
05:43Senator Bennett.
05:44Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
05:46Mr. Secretary, in June,
05:48you fired every member...
05:50Mr. Secretary, are you...
05:51Mr. Secretary, may I have my time back, Mr. Chairman?
05:58Mr. Secretary, thank you for your attention.
06:00In June, you fired every member
06:02of the well-qualified panel
06:05that was charged with recommending vaccines
06:07to the CDC.
06:09No one in your job
06:11has ever fired every committee member
06:13all at once.
06:16That month, you told the American people
06:18that you were, quote,
06:19going to bring great people
06:20onto the ACIP panel,
06:22not anti-vaxxers.
06:25Are you aware that one of the people
06:26you put on the panel,
06:28Dr. Robert Malone,
06:29claimed that the commonly used
06:31mRNA, the vaccine,
06:34quote,
06:34causes a form of AIDS
06:35and can damage children's,
06:38quote, brains,
06:39their heart,
06:41their immune system,
06:42and their ability
06:43to have children
06:43in the future?
06:45Yes or no,
06:46Mr. Kennedy?
06:47And Dr. Malone
06:48is one of the inventors of the...
06:49Yes or no.
06:50Yes or no.
06:50Are you...
06:51Were you aware
06:51that he had that view
06:53when you appointed him
06:54to this panel?
06:54Dr. Malone
06:55is one of the...
06:57As I said,
06:58Dr. Malone
06:58is one of the inventors
07:00of the mRNA vaccine.
07:02So he knows a lot more about it.
07:03That statement...
07:04Mr. Chairman,
07:05that statement
07:06is not true
07:08that Dr. Malone made,
07:10just as it wasn't true
07:11when you wrote
07:12that, quote,
07:12African AIDS
07:14is entirely different
07:15from Western AIDS.
07:18Are you aware
07:19that another one
07:20of these new members,
07:22Dr. Levy wrote
07:23that, quote,
07:25evidence is mounting
07:26and indisputable
07:27that mRNA vaccines
07:29cause serious harm,
07:31including death,
07:33especially among young people?
07:35Yes or no?
07:35Are you aware
07:36that he said that?
07:37I wasn't aware
07:38he said it,
07:39but I think
07:39I agree with it.
07:40You agree with it?
07:41It's not true.
07:42It wasn't true
07:43when he said it.
07:44It is not true
07:45when you said it.
07:46Secretary Kennedy,
07:48later this month,
07:50your new panel
07:50will meet
07:51to consider
07:52changing vaccine
07:53recommendations
07:54for American children.
07:57In addition
07:57to the COVID-19 vaccines,
08:00they are set
08:00to review recommendations
08:02for the hepatitis B vaccine,
08:04for measles,
08:05for mumps,
08:06for rubella
08:06and varicella vaccine,
08:08and the RSV vaccine.
08:11These are common
08:12back-to-school
08:13vaccinations
08:14for children
08:15all over
08:16the industrialized world.
08:19If you change that,
08:20you owe parents
08:22in Colorado
08:23and across
08:24the country
08:25the benefit
08:26of some transparency,
08:28I think.
08:29If your panel
08:30recommends changing
08:31the vaccine schedule
08:32for children,
08:33do you anticipate
08:34that fewer children
08:36will receive
08:37these common
08:38vaccinations,
08:39yes or no?
08:40what I would say,
08:43Senator,
08:44The obvious answer
08:44is yes.
08:46Should parents
08:46and schools
08:47of Colorado
08:48be prepared
08:49for more measles outbreaks
08:51as a result of that,
08:52Mr. Secretary?
08:54Senator,
08:55how about more mumps outbreaks?
08:57I do not anticipate
09:00a change
09:01in the MMR vaccine.
09:03You know,
09:03AZIP is an independent panel.
09:06Well,
09:06it's a panel
09:07you just put
09:08those folks on
09:09far from what you said.
09:11There are people
09:12with ideas
09:14that are completely
09:15outside the mainstream.
09:17You mean
09:17out of the pharmaceutical paradigm?
09:19Let me just say,
09:20Mr. Secretary,
09:21all these vaccines
09:22that we're talking about today
09:23are free
09:24and accessible
09:25to parents
09:26today in America
09:28who have the freedom
09:29to be able to make
09:30that choice
09:31for their children.
09:32Will that be true
09:33after your hand-picked panel
09:35makes their judgments
09:36about these vaccines?
09:38I think that
09:39parents should be free
09:41to...
09:42I know.
09:42You've said that before.
09:43I do, too.
09:44To make their own choices.
09:46So will they be
09:47just as free
09:47after these vaccines?
09:48I assume they will be.
09:51I will hold you
09:52to that,
09:53Secretary Kennedy.
09:55Because this is not a podcast.
09:57It is
09:58the American people's health
10:00that's on the line here.
10:02This is the last thing,
10:03by the way,
10:03our parents need
10:05when their kids
10:06are going back to school.
10:07Is to have
10:08the kind of confusion
10:09and expense
10:11and scarcity
10:12that you're creating
10:14as a result
10:15of your ideology.
10:18I think it's critical
10:19for you to share
10:20the evidence
10:22that this panel
10:23will rely on.
10:24Will you give
10:25the American people
10:26six months
10:27or six weeks
10:27in advance
10:28the record
10:29that they're going
10:30to rely on
10:31to make these decisions?
10:32Will you make it
10:33transparent for
10:34the American people?
10:34All the evidence
10:35is transparent.
10:36Will you make it
10:37in advance transparent
10:38for the American people
10:39so they can comment on it?
10:41All the evidence
10:41is transparent
10:42for the first time
10:43in history
10:43and you were never
10:44there complaining
10:45when the pharmaceutical
10:46companies were picking
10:47those people
10:48and then running
10:49their products
10:50through with no safety testing.
10:51You can characterize
10:52it any way you want.
10:53I quoted them today.
10:55What I said
10:55was accurate.
10:57What you said
10:57were lies.
10:59Are you saying
11:00people are moving
11:02the Titanic?
11:04Are you saying
11:05that a dmRNA vaccine
11:06has never been
11:07associated
11:08with myocarditis
11:09or pericarditis
11:10in teenagers?
11:11I am saying
11:11I am simply
11:12trying to say
11:15that the people
11:16that you have
11:17put on that panel
11:18after firing
11:20the entire
11:21You're evading
11:21the question.
11:22You
11:22No, I'm asking
11:24the questions here
11:25Mr. Kennedy.
11:25You're evading that question.
11:26I'm asking the questions
11:27Mr. Kennedy.
11:28I'm asking the questions
11:30for Mr. Kennedy
11:31on behalf of
11:32parents
11:33and schools
11:34and teachers
11:35all over
11:37the United States
11:38of America
11:38who deserve
11:39so much better
11:41than your leadership.
11:42That's what
11:43this conversation
11:44is about
11:45Mr. Chairman.
11:46Senator,
11:46they deserve
11:47the truth
11:48and that's what
11:49we're going to
11:49give them
11:49for the first time
11:50in the history
11:51of that agency.
11:56Senator White.
11:57Thank you very much
11:58Mr. Chairman.
11:59I've made it clear
12:00I think that
12:01Secretary Kennedy
12:03is dead set
12:04on making it harder
12:05for children
12:05to get vaccines
12:06and that kids
12:07are going to die
12:08because of it.
12:09And Mr. Chairman
12:10I'd like to put in
12:11the record today
12:12an op-ed written
12:13by Susan Menares
12:15who was fired
12:15by Mr. Kennedy.
12:17Without objection.
12:19So
12:20what we
12:21know
12:22and
12:23Dr. Menares
12:25you know
12:25was approved
12:26by Republicans
12:27she wrote an op-ed
12:28today
12:29in the Wall Street Journal
12:30which I've just put
12:30in the record
12:31and I quote her
12:32she said
12:33I was told
12:34to pre-approve
12:36the recommendations
12:37of a vaccine
12:38advisory panel
12:39newly filled
12:40with people
12:41who have publicly
12:42expressed
12:43anti-vaccine rhetoric.
12:45So
12:46this is not
12:47some
12:47liberal
12:49philosopher
12:50or something
12:50this is the
12:51CDC director
12:52who tells
12:53the Wall Street Journal
12:54which is not
12:55exactly
12:55interested in
12:57progressive
12:58you know
12:58theories and the like
12:59that she was told
13:01to pre-approve
13:02the recommendations
13:03of a vaccine
13:04advisory panel
13:05filled with people
13:06who've publicly
13:07expressed
13:08anti-vaccine rhetoric.
13:10So
13:10my first question
13:11Mr. Secretary
13:12is
13:12did you
13:13in fact
13:14do
13:14what Director
13:15Moneris
13:16said you did
13:17which is
13:18tell her
13:18to just go along
13:19with vaccine
13:20recommendations
13:21even if she didn't
13:21think such
13:22recommendations
13:23aligned with
13:24scientific evidence.
13:26No I did not.
13:27That's a yes or no.
13:28So you have an opportunity
13:29to call her a liar
13:30if you say that
13:32you didn't
13:33do it
13:33but I'd like to
13:34see you respond
13:35to this.
13:36No I did not
13:37say that to her
13:38and I never had
13:40a private meeting
13:40with her
13:41so there are witnesses
13:43to every meeting
13:44that we have
13:44and all those witnesses
13:46will say
13:46I never said that.
13:48So she's lying today
13:50to the American people
13:51in the Wall Street Journal.
13:52Yes sir.
13:53Okay.
13:53Let's talk now
13:55about what's
13:56coming up
13:57because I made it clear
13:59what I've thought
14:00about the 203
14:01you know
14:01days with my colleagues
14:02and also Brooks
14:03in two weeks
14:04CDC's advisory committee
14:06on immunization practices
14:08will meet
14:08to make decisions
14:09about critical vaccines
14:11that protect us
14:11against hepatitis B
14:13measles and more.
14:14The committee's
14:15got a profound
14:16impact on
14:17vaccine access
14:19but these aren't
14:20ordinary meetings
14:21you've stacked the deck
14:22to ensure the panel
14:23benefits
14:24bends to your views.
14:26In June
14:26you fired
14:27all 17 committee members
14:29who are respected
14:30scientists and doctors.
14:31You replaced them
14:32with non-experts
14:33vaccine skeptics
14:34and conspiracy theorists.
14:36As a result
14:37this critical
14:38advisory panel
14:40has lost
14:41scientific credibility.
14:43After years
14:44colleagues
14:44we spend so much time
14:46not looking at this
14:47as Democrats
14:47and Republicans
14:48but it's good science
14:50and scientific
14:50you know credibility
14:51and now the
14:52American Academy
14:54of Pediatrics
14:55has warned
14:56that the committee
14:57is being politicized
14:59at the expense
15:00of children's health.
15:02American Academy
15:03of Pediatrics
15:05you think
15:06they're lying too?
15:07I think the
15:08American Academy
15:09of Pediatrics
15:10is gravely
15:13conflicted
15:13they get
15:14their biggest
15:16contributors
15:16are the four
15:17largest vaccine makers
15:18they run a journal
15:20Pediatrics
15:21which they make
15:22a lot of money on
15:23that is completely
15:24dependent on
15:24pharmaceutical companies
15:25so I don't think
15:26I wouldn't put a big
15:28stake
15:29in what they say
15:31that benefits
15:32pharmaceutical interests.
15:34Senator
15:34I didn't politicize
15:36it but I depoliticize
15:37it.
15:38Congress has been
15:39investigating
15:40it.
15:40But all over the
15:41country Mr. Secretary
15:42scientists and doctors
15:45are saying otherwise
15:46they're all wrong too
15:48they're all lying
15:48according to you.
15:49The scientists
15:50and doctors
15:50are supporting me
15:51all over the country
15:52there is division
15:54on opinion.
15:55I don't get letters
15:56from thousands
15:58of people
15:59who are not political
16:00saying that this
16:01set of changes
16:02is going to damage
16:04American health care
16:05and particularly
16:06these health care
16:07agencies
16:07for decades to come.
16:09I don't get any
16:10letters from people
16:10saying this is going
16:12to make a big
16:12difference forever.
16:13Maybe you're listening
16:15to a selective
16:15group of people.
16:16You get me
16:18some of the answers.
16:18I will tell you
16:21what Senator
16:21I will put my mailbag
16:23against your mailbag
16:24any day of the week.
16:26I got 30 seconds.
16:27Dangerous
16:28respiratory
16:29viruses
16:30like RSV
16:31are on the agenda
16:33for the next
16:34advisory meeting.
16:35Countless parents
16:36have been awakened
16:37in the dead of night
16:38by a wheezing kid
16:39gasping for air
16:40forced to rush
16:41their little one
16:42to the ER.
16:42There's no worse
16:43heart-wrenching fear.
16:45The RSV vaccine
16:46offers these kids
16:47protection
16:48against the worst
16:49effects of the virus.
16:51But now it looks like
16:52you're on a crusade
16:54to make infants
16:54and babies
16:55more vulnerable
16:56to the terrible illness.
16:57That's what we're doing
16:58with the COVID
16:59changes.
17:00And please make
17:02your answer brief
17:02Mr. Secretary.
17:05I've said
17:06that position
17:06is indefensible.
17:08I think it's possible.
17:08Congress has been
17:10investigating that
17:10committee for 23 years
17:13because it is
17:14it is pervaded
17:15with conflicts
17:16of interest.
17:17What we did
17:17is we got rid
17:19of the conflicts
17:20of interest
17:20and we put
17:21we depoliticized
17:22and put great
17:23scientists on it
17:24from a very
17:26diverse group.
17:27Let me close
17:27with this
17:29because like
17:30Senator Krapel
17:31I'm a few seconds
17:32over.
17:32I don't think
17:33Mr. Secretary
17:34this is about
17:35you and me.
17:36This is about
17:37kids being pushed
17:38in harm's way
17:40by reckless
17:41and repeated
17:42decisions
17:42to get scientists
17:43and doctors
17:44out of the way
17:45and allow
17:46conspiracy theories
17:47to dictate
17:47this country's
17:48health policy.
17:49I don't see
17:50any evidence
17:51that you have
17:51any regrets
17:52about anything
17:53you've done
17:53or plans to change it.
17:55And my last comment
17:56is I hope
17:57that you will
17:58tell the American
17:59people how many
18:01preventable child
18:02deaths are an
18:04acceptable sacrifice
18:05for enacting
18:06an agenda
18:07that I think
18:08is fundamentally
18:09cruel and defies
18:10common sense.
18:11Thank you Mr. Chairman.
18:12Do I get a reply?
18:16Senator you've
18:17sat in that chair
18:18for how long?
18:2020, 25 years
18:21while the chronic
18:22disease in our
18:23children went up
18:24to 76%
18:25and you said
18:26nothing.
18:27You never asked
18:28the question
18:28why it's happening.
18:29Why is this happening?
18:31Today for the first
18:32time in 20 years
18:33we've learned
18:35that infant mortality
18:36has increased
18:37in our country.
18:38It's not because
18:38I came in here.
18:39It's because of
18:40what happened
18:40during the Biden
18:41administration
18:41that we're going
18:42to end.
18:43I'm going to let
18:43Senator Wyden
18:44respond briefly
18:45to that
18:46and then we're
18:46not going to go
18:47over like
18:48we just did.
18:49Only to defend
18:49this committee
18:50on a bipartisan
18:51basis.
18:52Colleagues,
18:52my cabinet
18:54secretary says
18:55that we have
18:56no interest
18:57in chronic care.
18:58Mr. Secretary
18:58Mr. Chairman
18:59could we have
19:00regular order please?
19:00We are in the process
19:01of turning around
19:02the Medicare program
19:03with the chronic
19:04care bill
19:05that Chairman
19:05hatched when he
19:06was chairman
19:06and this committee
19:07put together
19:08on a bipartisan
19:09basis.
19:10All right.
19:10We're going to
19:10proceed
19:11and I just want
19:12the rest of the
19:13members to know.
19:13I gave Senator
19:14Wyden as ranking
19:15member some leeway
19:16there but we're
19:17going to stick
19:18to the five minutes.
19:19Let me go back
19:20to policy.
19:21Maybe we'll lower
19:22the temperature
19:22a little bit.
19:24I got a bipartisan
19:25bill that would
19:27be a systemic fix
19:28not a vote
19:30buying mechanism
19:31when Medicaid's
19:32getting cut
19:32than what was put
19:33in on the rural
19:34hospitals.
19:34One of the things
19:35we could do
19:35Mr. Secretary
19:36is make sure
19:37that the folks
19:38who work in rural
19:39hospitals get an
19:4080% reimbursement
19:41of what folks
19:42get in more
19:44urban centers.
19:44Would you support
19:45that legislation?
19:48Are you talking
19:50about the area
19:51wage index?
19:52I'm talking
19:53about the area
19:53wage index
19:55and moving
19:55that up to 80%
19:56so there is
19:57actually ability
19:58to get rural
19:59providers.
20:01President Trump
20:01supports that
20:02and we support that.
20:03Do you support?
20:04You support.
20:04Good.
20:05So you will work
20:05with us to get
20:06that passed?
20:07Yes.
20:08That will increase
20:09costs on both
20:10Medicaid and Medicare
20:11so you are
20:13committed to that.
20:13I appreciate that.
20:14What about
20:14Senator Wyden
20:15that I've got
20:15to build
20:16because across
20:17America
20:17hospitals are
20:20shutting down
20:21on their OBGYN
20:22services.
20:23Try to have a baby.
20:24I don't know
20:24about all my
20:25other friend states
20:26but in Southside
20:27Virginia you can't
20:27find a hospital.
20:28Will you work
20:29with us to make
20:29sure that before
20:30OBGYN services
20:32are taken out
20:34of a rural hospital
20:34there has to be
20:35a process and
20:36procedure?
20:36I'm happy to
20:37work with you
20:38on that.
20:39Senator,
20:39meet with you
20:40and see if we
20:42can work with you
20:42on it.
20:43I don't know
20:43exactly what the
20:44issue is.
20:46Again,
20:48the Secretary of
20:49Health and Human
20:49Services who has
20:50said he doesn't
20:51know how many
20:52people died from
20:52COVID,
20:53doesn't know if
20:54the vaccine
20:54saved lives,
20:56doesn't understand
20:57the issue that
20:57OBGYN are fleeing
21:01rural America
21:02because they can't
21:02afford it and
21:04with the cuts
21:04that are coming
21:05up it's going
21:06to be exponentially
21:06worse.
21:07I would invite you
21:08sir to come with
21:09me to a community
21:10health center in
21:10Virginia and hear
21:11what is on
21:12people's mind.
21:13They want to get
21:13healthier?
21:14Absolutely.
21:15Count me in.
21:16But they also
21:17don't want their
21:17basic health care
21:18removed.
21:18Thank you,
21:19Mr. Chairman.
21:21Thank you,
21:21Mr. Chairman.
21:22So, last November,
21:24while you were
21:25under consideration
21:26to become Secretary
21:27of Health and Human
21:28Services,
21:29Mr. Kennedy,
21:30you said,
21:31quote,
21:31if vaccines are
21:32working for somebody,
21:34I'm not going to
21:35take them away.
21:36No exceptions,
21:37no ifs,
21:38ands,
21:38or buts.
21:39You would not
21:40take away vaccines
21:41from anyone
21:42who wanted them.
21:44Then last week,
21:45you announced
21:45the COVID-19 vaccine
21:47is no longer
21:48approved for healthy
21:49people under the
21:50age of 65.
21:52In announcing the
21:52change,
21:53you said the vaccine
21:54will be available
21:55for anyone who
21:56wants it.
21:56Now, obviously,
21:58both things cannot
21:58be true at the
21:59same moment.
22:00So, let's clear
22:01this up right now,
22:03Secretary Kennedy.
22:04Will you tell
22:05America that all
22:07adults and all
22:08children over six
22:09months of age
22:10are eligible
22:11to get a
22:12COVID booster
22:13at their local
22:14pharmacy today?
22:16Anybody can get
22:17the booster.
22:19I'm sorry?
22:19Anybody can get it.
22:20Anybody.
22:21So, you're saying
22:22that is now
22:23the official rule
22:24of HHS,
22:26anybody is eligible
22:28to get a booster
22:28by just walking
22:29into the pharmacy?
22:30It's not recommended
22:32for healthy people.
22:33No, no.
22:34If you don't recommend,
22:35then the consequence
22:37of that in many
22:38states is that
22:40you can't walk
22:41into a pharmacy
22:41and get one.
22:42It means insurance
22:43companies don't have
22:44to cover the $200
22:45or so cost.
22:47As Senator Dr. Cassidy
22:50said, you are
22:50effectively denying
22:52people vaccines.
22:53We're not going
22:54to recommend a product
22:55for which there's
22:56no clinical data
22:57for that indication.
22:58Is that what I
22:59should be doing?
23:00What you should
23:01be doing is
23:02honoring your promise
23:03that you made
23:04when you were looking
23:04to get confirmed
23:05in this job.
23:06You're going like this.
23:07And that is,
23:08you promised
23:09that you would not
23:10take away vaccines
23:13from anyone
23:14who wanted them.
23:15You just changed
23:16the classification
23:17of the COVID vaccine.
23:19I'm not taking them
23:20away from people,
23:21Senator.
23:21It takes it away
23:23if you can't get it
23:24from your pharmacist.
23:25Well, most Americans
23:26are going to be able
23:27to get it from their
23:28pharmacy for free.
23:30Most Americans
23:31will be able
23:32to get it from
23:32their pharmacy for free.
23:33The question is,
23:34everyone who wants
23:35it, that was your
23:36promise, Mr. Kennedy,
23:38not lying.
23:38I never promised
23:39that I was going
23:40to recommend products
23:41with which there is
23:42no indication.
23:43When you said...
23:44And I know
23:45you've taken
23:45$855,000
23:48from pharmaceutical
23:49companies, Senator.
23:50Did you hold up
23:51a big sign saying
23:52that you were lying
23:53when you said that?
23:54Because you are
23:55the one who said
23:56you would not
23:57take them away.
23:59Now, Senator...
24:00I'm not taking
24:01them away from anybody.
24:02Secretary...
24:03You want me to
24:04indicate a product
24:05for which there is
24:06no clinical data?
24:08Is that what you want?
24:09Secretary Kennedy,
24:11you said you wouldn't
24:12and now you did.
24:13I'm not taking them
24:14away.
24:14Everybody can get
24:15access to them.
24:17No, they can't
24:18walk into a pharmacy
24:19the way they could
24:20last month
24:21and get access...
24:23It depends on the...
24:24It depends on the states.
24:26A year ago...
24:27But they can still
24:28get it.
24:29Everybody can get it.
24:30A month ago...
24:30Everybody can get it,
24:32Senator.
24:32So look,
24:33let's move on.
24:34You clearly are
24:35taking away vaccines.
24:37I've seen the list
24:38for what's coming up next
24:39and that is
24:40the agenda
24:41for the next
24:42CDC vaccine panel.
24:45And first up
24:46is ratifying
24:48your COVID actions.
24:49Second is
24:51hepatitis B
24:52is on the agenda.
24:53So should Americans
24:54expect you to take
24:55away hepatitis
24:56vaccine access
24:58as well
24:59even though
25:00you promised not to?
25:01As I said,
25:02I'm not taking
25:03vaccines away
25:04from anybody.
25:05Same answer, right?
25:06You're just going to
25:06deny that
25:07when people can't
25:09get access
25:09that you're not
25:11taking it away.
25:12Then let me ask you,
25:13is that the same game
25:14you're going to play
25:15with measles,
25:15so you want me
25:17to recommend
25:17every product
25:19in the world
25:20without any
25:22clinical trial data?
25:24on your promises.
25:25Yeah, my promise
25:26was to give
25:27A month ago
25:28we could get
25:29COVID vaccines
25:30by just walking
25:31You can still get
25:32COVID vaccines,
25:33Senator.
25:33You are taking
25:34that away.
25:35No, you are still
25:36you can still get
25:37the COVID vaccines
25:38and Medicare
25:38will still pay for them
25:40and Medicaid
25:40will still pay for them.
25:41head of the CDC
25:43that if she refused
25:45to sign off
25:45on your changes
25:46to the childhood
25:47vaccine schedule
25:48that she had to resign.
25:50No, I told her
25:52that she had to resign
25:53because I asked her
25:54are you a trustworthy person
25:56and she said no.
25:58So if you had an employee
26:00who told you
26:02they weren't trustworthy
26:03would you ask them
26:05to resign, Senator?
26:06So, I'm sorry
26:09but this is not
26:10what she has said publicly
26:11she has said
26:13Well, I'm not surprised
26:14about that.
26:15So you're saying
26:16she's lying?
26:17Yes.
26:18Every conversation
26:19I had with her
26:20there were witnesses
26:21just straight
26:21this is the same person
26:23that less than a month earlier
26:24you stood next to her
26:26and described her
26:28as unimpeachable
26:30and you had full confidence
26:33in her
26:34and that you had full confidence
26:36in her scientific credentials
26:38and in a month
26:40she became a liar?
26:41Yeah, you should ask her
26:42what changed
26:43and by the way
26:44a month ago
26:44you were voting against her
26:46because you thought
26:48she was either incompetent
26:49ineligible
26:50or unsuited
26:52to the task
26:53I was afraid
26:55she was going to bend
26:56the knee to you
26:57and Donald Trump
26:57and it looks like
26:59she didn't bend the knee
27:00so you fired her
27:02look
27:02you're putting
27:03America's babies
27:05health at risk
27:06America's seniors
27:07health at risk
27:07all Americans
27:09health at risk
27:09and you should resign
27:10Senator Sanders
27:12President Trump
27:13who I don't usually
27:14agree with
27:15called COVID vaccines
27:16quote
27:17one of the greatest
27:18miracles in the history
27:19of modern day medicine
27:20that saved tens
27:21of millions of lives
27:22worldwide
27:23scientific community
27:24agrees with Trump
27:26Lancet study
27:27found that it
27:28prevented almost
27:2820 million deaths
27:29during their first
27:31year of use
27:32Secretary Kennedy
27:34are President Trump
27:35and the medical
27:36community right
27:37or do you still
27:39believe that the
27:39COVID vaccine
27:40was quote
27:41the deadliest vaccine
27:43ever made
27:43no I
27:44first of all
27:45I didn't say
27:46that
27:46I said that
27:47in terms of
27:48affairs reports
27:50a while ago
27:51I said today
27:53I think that
27:54President Trump
27:54should get the
27:55Nobel Prize
27:55so who's right
27:56is Trump
27:57in the medical
27:57community right
27:58or are you right
27:59President Trump
28:00did an extraordinary
28:02piece of leadership
28:03is he right
28:04or wrong
28:05did COVID
28:06save millions
28:06of lives
28:07as I said
28:09he got Americans
28:10back to work
28:11at that time
28:11that particular
28:12vaccine was
28:13perfectly matched
28:14to the virus
28:14that was circulating
28:15then
28:16and I have no
28:17idea how many
28:18lives it saved
28:19but it saved
28:19quite a few
28:20you know what
28:23I find a little
28:24bit weird
28:24in this discussion
28:26I'm hearing it
28:26over and over
28:27again this morning
28:28Mr. Chairman
28:28because we've got
28:30the entire
28:30medical community
28:32on one side
28:33you've got the
28:33AMA
28:34representing
28:35hundreds of
28:35thousands of
28:36doctors
28:36the American
28:38Academy of
28:38Pediatrics
28:39the American
28:40Pulp Book
28:41Public Health
28:41Association
28:42all of these
28:44organizations
28:45are telling
28:47us that
28:48COVID vaccine
28:50and vaccines
28:51in general
28:51are safe
28:52and effective
28:53you are casting
28:55doubt on that
28:56who are your
28:56scientific
28:57who are the
28:58organizations
28:59that are agreeing
29:00with you
