00:00Newcastle United defender Dan Byrne has said that he can understand the frustration of Newcastle United supporters with regards to Alexander Ezek who has now departed the Magpies for Liverpool in what was a British record transfer fee paid by the Merseyside Club.
00:17However, he also made clear that he has no animosity or hard feelings towards Alexander Ezek who made clear his desires to leave Newcastle early on in the transfer window.
00:30It took until deadline day for Ezek to get his move to Anfield and now Byrne who is on England duty made clear his thoughts on the situation.
00:42I'm glad it's done. I think we wanted the transfer window to close just to have a bit of clarity on it but listen I've been in football long enough to understand that for a player the careers are short and they've got things that they want to achieve.
00:56So for me, I'm happy that it's over. Alex is a mate so it was a tough situation because you want him to be around and help the team but also understand for him what he needs to do personally so I've got nothing but good wishes for Alex.
01:12So no animosity towards him?
01:16No, no animosity. I think like, listen, obviously as a Newcastle fan you know what Newcastle fans are like.
01:21We're very protective of our club and we're City and you want players to be there who want to play for Newcastle and you don't want them to sort of naively think that there's anywhere else to go apart from playing Newcastle.
01:34So I understand why our fans are frustrated but as I said I think I've been in the game long enough now to understand what goes on and as I said I wish Alex all the best apart from when we play Liverpool, obviously.
01:46Isak himself could be in line to play his first competitive match of the season on international duty for Sweden as they take on Slovenia in what is a World Cup qualifier away from home.
02:00For Dan Byrne, as mentioned, he is on England duty as they welcome Andorra to Villa Park as they look to get their qualification to the 2026 World Cup wrapped up as soon as possible.
