00:00Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has said that the club still has work to do in the transfer market before the window slams shut at the end of the month.
00:10This comes amidst the ongoing saga regarding Alexander Azak's future, but Eddie Howe still wants other positions filled for Newcastle.
00:18No, in terms of squad, no, we've got some work to do, if we can, in the transfer market, because I think that's the only place really that we can get what we need in the next few weeks.
00:33So, as I've said many times, we're going to be actively trying to bring players in.
00:39Within the squad, I think we've got some very, very good players. There's no doubt in the quality.
00:42We have an unbalanced squad currently with a few departures, and the numbers coming in the other way haven't quite adjusted to that.
00:55So, we have work to do. In terms of our fitness levels and where the current players are at, I think we're in a good place.
01:03I think they needed this back-to-back game this weekend. They needed the 90 minutes, and then we need another good week's training,
01:10I think, to be our optimum level for what will be a very tough opening to the Premier League.
01:15And Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards has said that the club should enjoy the highs that victories bring as long as they come back down to earth quickly.
01:22Yeah, I think someone said to me the other day, you know, people talk about that, never get too high, never get too low sort of stuff.
01:31But football gives you highs and lows, so I don't think there's anything wrong with getting high.
01:34Just as long as then you get level again the next day or two, then that's fine.
01:37So, yeah, I was like there, because we've all got to enjoy the wins.
01:42And then now, yeah, it's business as usual.
01:45The set piece that won it, it's something that Borough haven't had a great deal of success with in recent years, set pieces.
01:51Is that something when you came in, you kind of identified as something that you wanted to implement, better set piece routines and things?
01:58We're certainly aware of it, and we have a real focus on it.
02:00The guys before would have as well, and sometimes it just doesn't quite go your way, so they would have put a lot of work in before, I know that.
02:07But, you know, we've had some success in pre-season, obviously from the first game from it, which is great, because you get buy-in and belief as well from the players, which helps.
