00:00in december of 2023 i unfortunately was diagnosed with breast cancer
00:04and just before christmas that came as a hell of a shock it absolutely made me pause and have a
00:08rethink um and obviously cancer will do that to you but i loved lighting candles i've got a house
00:15full of candles already before we even did this and it just kind of gives a little bit of peace
00:19and just like the candle putting some wax melts on and just actually all of your troubles yeah
00:24just sort of sitting down and you know trying to do some deep breaths having that kind of a reset
00:28really made us examine me my own self-care that i probably was neglecting myself
00:32i think it's recognized that stress has a massive role to play in ill health as well
00:36and and you know that was kind of to get away from that and just take a moment to pause
00:41to breathe to just to actually think about how you're feeling and scent is a good way of doing
00:46that a sense of smell can evoke a lot of emotions and memories for people um yeah so just kind of
00:54to put a wax smell on but not just to make your house smell nice it's actually more than that
00:58it's more about actually what does that then do for you are you just like the candle run around
01:03busy busy busy or lighten up wax melt run around busy busy or are you actually taking a moment just
01:07to watch that flame dance a little bit have a little bit of a smell and just think how's it
01:13making this feel just sit down just take a few deep breaths and just have a little pause
01:18and that was very much kind of what we wanted to do yeah i think there's a lot of people can produce
01:23and beautiful wax smells but it's the the bit behind it was more for us about there it's more
01:27than just a wax yeah it was more than that it was about taking a pause and taking a deep breath and
01:32having that kind of that sense of sound really we can't believe like all of these products we've
01:38actually just made in our house um and they've just come to life and exactly how we thought they
01:43would and we're just really proud of each other really proud of what we've created and really proud of
01:48where this is actually started and where it's going to be gone because it's going to be huge yeah
01:52yeah we're just absolutely brilliant it's a proper family affair isn't it um literally
01:58made these now homes now kitchens and the dining table yeah in a little slow cooker so we started
02:03off with nothing and we had some really good advice from stephanie and she gave us loads of things to
02:07get us going um but literally put the wax and slow cooker went from there basically it was just a
02:12wish to make it come true and mum gets involved the kids get involved so it was a really big family
02:17affair and also around the table and get packaging and get all the things ready and to make them look
02:21as beautiful as they do we use the blend of coconut and rapeseed um wax which is obviously vegan and
02:28halal kosher no nasties no gmo no palm products and no soy as it's clean burning and very very good for
02:36wax melts and it's the best wax that you can can get for that that purpose um so we're very sort of
02:43conscious and that make that decision um our fragrance oils are all uk sourced as well as our
02:49wax as well um and so we can trace that we know where it's come from and we have all sort of safety
02:54and allergy information on that if you need to see that we can prove where else just comes from because
02:58we're very sort of conscious that we didn't want to public the harm and sort of the need if you have
03:03allergies that type of thing and we can we can see where these come from i've got a massive love of
03:08crystals i had a small shop upstairs in the wellness center so that's the way it all started
03:14however i noticed that there's just no way in south shields to get gifts so whether you want to treat
03:20yourself or whether you want to treat a loved one so i thought right instead of trying to find some
03:25way to go i'll just bring that to south shields so there's a bit everything here so if you want to
03:30treat yourself or a loved one for birthdays or anything that's why i've done that so helping people
03:34is literally at the bottom of my heart and helping other small businesses is amazing as well i just
03:40wish the support was there when i started up so i'm trying to help all of the small businesses
03:45by giving them space and encouragement in the shop and a little bit of guidance as well to sell the
03:50handcrafted products
