Apart from the odd mostly light shower, Friday promises to be a drier day than of late. Sunny spells, the best of these developing early on and then again later. Cloudier and breezier across the northwest, but feeling rather warm.

00:01Hi there.

00:02Following a wet start to September, it's going to turn drier and warmer for a couple

00:06of days.

00:07That's not to say it will be completely dry or sunny.

00:10There is a lot of cloud across the UK for the rest of Friday, that cloud thick enough

00:14to give a few showers, particularly towards the north and the west.

00:17But certainly, compared with the last few days of showers and longer spells of rain,

00:23it is looking more settled.

00:24Plenty of places avoiding the showers, staying dry and seeing some glimmers of sunshine in

00:29between the clouds, so temperatures reaching 18 to 22 or 23 Celsius, a little warmer compared

00:37to the last couple of days as well.

00:40And through the evening, the cloud across much of England and Wales tends to thin and disperse.

00:44I think we'll keep the cloud for Western Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland.

00:48Still a few showers here and there, particularly Western Scotland and Northern Ireland.

00:52But for many, it's a dry and increasingly clear night, and under those clear skies, temperatures

00:57will fall into the low teens in many urban areas and perhaps the low double figures or

01:03high single figures in some spots.

01:06One or two mist patches forming as well, particularly towards the south and the southeast with the

01:10lighter winds here.

01:12But we start Saturday with plenty of fine weather once again.

01:15The best of the sunshine will be across England and Wales, Eastern and Northern Scotland.

01:18Western Scotland and Northern Ireland again seeing thicker cloud and some showery rain from

01:23time to time.

01:25But for most, actually it's another dry, mostly settled day.

01:29The cloud tends to thicken towards the west.

01:32The breeze picks up as well.

01:34It's going to turn increasingly windy, particularly through the Irish Sea overnight.

01:38But through much of the day, it's looking like a reasonable, settled spell with temperatures

01:44reaching 22 to 24 Celsius towards the east and the southeast.

01:49Feeling a little fresher towards the west as that breeze picks up.

01:52There is rain waiting in the wings there towards the far west.

01:57That's going to push into parts of Northern Ireland by evening.

02:01And that is a sign of things to come for later in the weekend and certainly into next week.

02:08An area of low pressure arrives, tighter isobars, the wind picks up.

02:13That's initially going to draw up some very warm air across the east on Sunday.

02:18But with an increased wind and increased cloud, perhaps it won't feel particularly warm in

02:23many spots.

02:24The rain then moves in for much of Sunday from the west and that low dominating for the first

02:31half of next week, bringing increasingly unsettled weather.

02:35So a dry couple of days coming up, followed by more unsettled weather through next week.
