Four new destinations have been unveiled by Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), spreading its wings further into China and South-East Asia.

From Jan 9, Malaysia Airlines will commence daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tianfu International Airport in China's Chengdu city.

00:00For Malaysia Airlines, this includes the addition of a seventh destination in China,
00:06a market where average load factors reach 81% for the first half of 2025.
00:13We see tremendous traction of the turnaround in China, supporting China outbound.
00:21And with the support of the mutual visa-free arrangement between Malaysia and China,
00:25this expansion position us to capture growing demand in one of the world's most dynamic travel markets, China,
00:34notwithstanding, not forgetting India.
00:37Meanwhile, Firefly will expand its jet operation with three new routes within ASEAN.
00:44Later, we will declare these routes, further deepening its footprint in high-growth regional markets,
00:50creating more choices for our customers, and reinforcing Malaysia's role as our regional aviation hub.
00:59To support this growth, our fleet strategy is advancing in tandem, in parallel.
01:05We have already taken delivery of six A330 neos, which will be seven in the next two weeks,
01:12with a target of nine A330 neos by NODC, 14.737-8.
01:20We have taken delivery, part of our fleet modernization program.
01:24This aircraft not only strengthens our competitiveness,
01:27but also delivers a more consistent and comfortable experience for all our customers.
01:32By 2035, our ambition is for Malaysia Airlines to operate a modern mainline fleet of 116 airplanes,
01:41with an average age by then just seven years old, as Compaq today approaching 11 years old,
01:48by 12 years old next year.
01:51This renewed fleet, alongside Firefly's expanding services,
01:55will support a group network spanning 106 destinations across Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.
02:02That's on Malaysia Airlines and Firefly Metal alone.
02:05If we combine, one world will be 1,000 destinations that Malaysia Airlines will be able to serve its customers.
02:11Today, we are proud to announce that expansion further,
02:15catering to the strong demand we see across the key markets.
02:18The last three years, we have never failed in every single Mata.
02:22We have come forward to you to show a significant expansion that we intend to do.
02:27And just like every other Mata, we've come in today with four new routes once again.
02:31From 9 January 2026, Malaysia Airlines will resume direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Chengdu,
02:39opening new opportunities for business and leisure.
02:41Meanwhile, Firefly will also expand its reach to the ASEAN most sought-after destinations.
02:47From November 2025, Firefly will launch new services to Krabi, Siamrep, and Cebu.
02:53Now, Firefly jet operations are at KLIA Terminal 1.
02:56It makes it easier for international passengers to connect to Firefly's regional network seamlessly.
03:02So you will transit from MH to Firefly through a check-in baggage, foods are given,
03:07complete seamless experience on board, both MH and Firefly.
03:13Now, Firefly has shown a real strong momentum,
03:16proving its role driving regional growth within MAG's broader growth strategy.
03:20Today, Firefly complements Malaysia Airlines, supporting our mainline growth by driving tourism flows from secondary cities.
03:29As part of an ongoing expansion, we're not just announcing new routes today.
03:34Part of the press release, you'll see a variety of frequency increases that will take place across
03:39from Adelaide, Perth, Ziaman, Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Malay, Dhaka, and across our network.
03:46Firefly is also stepping up with increased frequencies across Singapore, Johor, Penang, Kota Kinabalu,
03:52which will operate 14 times weekly.
03:55From its Subang hub, Firefly will also introduce new services to Johor, Baru, and Penang,
04:00offering up to 42 flights weekly, giving travellers greater convenience across Malaysia and the region.
04:08To the frequency of the new flights to Chengdu, Siamrep, Krabi, and Cebu,
04:12what kind of frequency can we expect from the set dates?
04:15So in terms of frequency, Chengdu is daily services, Krabi will be daily services,
04:23Siamrep will be 3x weekly, and Cebu will be 5 weekly to start with.
