Malaysia Airlines Flight MH720 from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur carrying 114 passengers landed safely at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this evening after declaring an emergency during mid-flight.

00:08safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Tuesday after declaring an emergency mid-flight.
00:15Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Datuk Captain Norazman
00:20Mahmood confirmed the incident, saying that there was an in-flight emergency.
00:26He said there were no injuries during the flight.
00:29He said the distress call was received at 6.02pm and the plane landed at KLIA at 6.17pm.
00:36Later, in a statement, the airline said the plane with 115 passengers and seven crew members
00:42on board followed standard safety protocols, including the activation of fire extinguishing
00:48agents in the forward cargo area as a precautionary measure, following a cargo fire indication.
00:55This was the second reported incident involving Malaysia Airlines in a week.
00:59On March 14, Flight MH705 from Manila to Kuala Lumpur was forced to turn back after one of
01:05its engines reportedly hit by a bird strike and caught fire.
01:09However, no one was injured during the incident as the plane returned to the Ninoy Aquino
01:13International Airport.
