Wawao Builders and SYMS Construction, contractors behind flood control projects in Bulacan, were slapped with a lifetime ban in participating in any government projects, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) disclosed on Thursday, Sept. 4.

00:00The contractors behind flood control projects in Bulacan, namely Wawao Builders and Sims Construction,
00:09were slapped with a lifetime ban in participating in any government projects,
00:14the Department of Public Works and Highways disclosed on Thursday, September 4.
00:19DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon announced the sanctions during an inspection of a flood control project in Barangay Sipat, Claridel.
00:28The project, handled by Wawao Builders, had been declared completed in 2024,
00:33even though actual construction only began three weeks before Dizon's inspection.
00:39Meanwhile, Sims Construction handled the P55M flood control project in Barangay Piel, Baliwag,
00:46which was visited by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on August 20th.
00:51Dizon also confirmed the dismissal of former Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara,
00:57who admitted during a House hearing that he issued a completion certificate for the Baliwag project without actual work.
