00:42what we are driving is the Kia Sonnet now this is the IMT version which is the intelligent manual
00:52transmission basically this car is for those people who want the joy of manual car but also
01:04want an automatic at the same time and the weather gods have been nice sorry to rain so yeah as I was
01:11saying IMT gearbox basically you have six gears your normal gear shifts like you have it in your regular
01:17uh geared cars but in this you don't have a clutch so you have a brake you have an accelerator and
01:24that's all there's no clutch so it's uh for some people who don't really know what this is it gets
01:31a little weird for them uh when they know that there is a manual shift but there is no uh clutch
01:36involved so in this video we're gonna talk about this car and we're gonna talk about how it drives and
01:41how uh good or efficient and um easy to drive is this IMT gearbox so let's quickly start this video
01:48and I will tell you everything you need to know about the Kia Sonnet IMT so now let's look at the
01:57exterior of the car once uh so it looks like a regular sonnet at the front you get your LED
02:02DRLs uh that run down you also get uh halogen headlamps uh you don't get an LED you get uh reflectors
02:10instead of projectors and uh but you have front parking sensors I must give that so front parking
02:15sensors are present if you talk about the variant this is the HTKO that is the turbo petrol variant
02:22it's a one liter three cylinder turbo petrol and uh yeah if you move to the side of the vehicle you
02:27will notice that this gets uh body cladding um it also gets these uh 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels
02:33that actually look nice when they roll tire profile on this is 215 60 r16 so it gets a chunky and a beefy
02:41tire so overall the tire is also good the size is good uh alloy size is also nice it goes overall well
02:47with the car size move to the side you have body lines running from the front to the back you have
02:52body colored door handles you don't get any chrome on the side as well um well however if you move to
02:59the back yeah and let me tell you that the front is a disc setup the rear is a drum setup and if you
03:04move to the back you have your sonnet badging then you have a rear wiper with a washer I'll just switch
03:08it on from here there you go see so you have a rear wiper and if you want to use the washer just do this
03:14and there you go you have fluid coming in from there so yeah rear wiper with a washer uh that's really
03:20necessary for days like this when it's raining and your rear windshield gets completely clogged with
03:26muck water and mud uh from other cars as well and from your car because the low pressure it just
03:32pushes the water up you also get a camera you don't get a 360 degree camera so if you want to use the
03:38camera you have it you have adaptive guidelines for the camera that actually move you have sensors as
03:43i mentioned at the front and at the back and then you have your sonnet badging if you talk about the
03:47boot of this car then you get a 385 liter of boot space which i think is very nice um if you are
03:56four people traveling that luggage should not be a problem at all and yeah that's about it this
04:01sums up the exterior of the vehicle and yeah there's a sunroof as well well you're going to operate it
04:07from the inside but yeah on the outside it looks good uh there's a sunroof and it's a pretty decent
04:12size sunroof this shade is a kind of a manual shade that's always been like that it opens
04:17automatically but if you close this this shade manually um now let us move on to the inside of
04:23the vehicle now the very first thing when you will step inside the sonnet you will notice that it
04:28gets a premium luxury kind of a finish um and you get your digital instrument cluster you get an
04:35infotainment system that's an eight inch infotainment system that has apple car plan or auto and a couple
04:40of the things that you can go around through it you have an automatic climate control there is a third
04:46screen as well that displays your temperature or your fan speed and your wind direction for the
04:52climate control and you have tactile buttons all over then you have some storage space you have
04:58actually you have a lot of storage space on the doors you have bottle holders over here you have
05:02storage space to keep your phone your wallet but sadly this variant does not get an wireless charger
05:08what do you get you get a 12 volt socket right over here usb type a and a usb type c socket and
05:14thankfully as i mentioned this has android auto and apple car play which is wireless so yeah that's a
05:20really good thing cluster is nice it's pretty simple you don't have a you actually don't have
05:24much going on it's a small screen it's a little cluster but you have analog dials as well you have
05:29the tachometer you have the fuel gauge and the temperature gauge all in analog and you have the
05:35mid screen and a digital speedometer so overall it's a clean thing looks really nice you have a round
05:41steering wheel which is good for once i personally don't like flat bottom steering wheels they look
05:46good on some cars they might have they have a purpose on some other cars but round steering wheel
05:51is always better so you have round steering wheel steering is you can only do a tilt adjustment you
05:58don't have a telescopic adjustment steering motor controls are there this version does not get the
06:02cruise control option so the cruise control part is missing but you get controls on either side to
06:08control the infotainment system that you have right over here and the instrument cluster both can
06:12be controlled through this wiper stock is on the left and your automatic headlamp stock which this
06:19has automatic headlamp it is on the right hand side well if we talk about some other buttons are on the
06:25right hand side you get a traction control park assist button you have a headlamp leveler and your
06:30automatic start stop so this car also gets automatic start stop which is a good thing and you have your
06:36power window buttons and your orvm buttons right over here so the orvm they are automatic orvm they fold
06:41you can adjust them automatically and on the inside on the door you have some silver finishing well you
06:47have hard plastic as you can hear from everywhere only the steering is wrapped in leather seat has fabric
06:54upholstery which is actually nice fabric upholstery is good they don't heat up much in the sun so i
07:03personally like fabric upholstery plus it it looks actually nice also if you talk about the rear you can see you get
07:10two headrests right over there that are non-adjustable um they should have given an armrest but armrest is
07:15not there but you have rear ac vents and you have some charging options as well so yeah that is sorted
07:22for the rear passengers uh overall it's a good car i would say uh for the price that this comes in it's
07:28just around 10 lakh rupees uh a showroom so you get a lot of features for a car that is priced this well
07:36uh if you talk about the sound system it's a good sound system you have two twitters and four speakers
07:40on the door pretty nice output i would say and uh the high awareness obviously get the bose uh treatment
07:47but this is also pretty decent i don't think a lot of people would swap out their stock system because
07:53it's it is pretty decent i would say uh overall it's a nice uh thing the driver's side gets height
08:00adjustment all are manual the passenger and the driver all adjustments for the seats are manual
08:04driver gets height adjustment and so that's a really good thing so people who are not being
08:09able to reach the steering properly they can at least raise the seat so that's a good thing
08:13overall it's a nice car from the outside as well as on the inside and now let's quickly drive this
08:19and especially tell you how this imt gearbox is um so yeah let's get driving
08:24so this is the key for the kia sonnet you have the lock unlock and the boot release button and this
08:35is a manual key you have a flip key it does not get an automatic start stop button so you have to insert
08:41it and then your ignition
08:43and if you twist it it won't start you know why because you have to press the brake so you have to
08:50press the brake and then start this thing so once it started up uh that's your cluster that's your
08:58screen as i mentioned it says uh press this widget to connect android auto and apple car pay however if
09:04your phone has it uh just connect it it'll just it's easy so yeah that's the screen and let's now
09:12go for a small drive and i will tell you how this thing works so as you saw this is my left foot it is
09:22completely back all right that is my right foot which is for the accelerator and the brake and there
09:30is no clutch over here so as you can see my foot is on the brake i will release the handbrake just
09:38engage gears engage leave the brake and you start to crawl now it has a crawl mode as well you can
09:43see you have first gears already engaged and simply you just have to
09:52change gears no need my left foot as you can see is just right over here there is no problem
09:58whatsoever to switch gears there you go okay so let me just let's just rain and roads are a little
10:10wet so yeah third then fourth and obviously i will tell you if you want to start from a lower gear what
10:18happens now we are back to neutral and i'll just stop the car you can start from second gear let me just try
10:28there you go second and
10:33yes now if you stop it again and you have to do it from third and you leave the brake what happens see
10:42you hear that beep it is saying please shift down no matter how much throttle you give i'm fully floored
10:48it will not move you put it back into second it starts moving first obviously it will
10:55so this is from a standstill but what if you are at a lower speed and you put a higher gear
11:03so right now we're in second gear and i will just put fourth okay fourth happened let me put fifth
11:09okay okay fifth also takes place sixth all right great
11:19i think the speed is
11:21yeah so there you go so it again says please shift down so you shift down and one more question that
11:32people have asked is that what happens if you red line it completely and just engage the gear without
11:40even like letting go of the throttle so i'll just do that but in the meantime let me tell you about
11:46the engine of this uh sonnet so it gets a one liter turbo petrol engine it's a three cylinder engine
11:51and this produces around 118 bhp of power and 172 nm of peak torque which is pretty decent power and
11:59torque figures again it's made it to a six speed manual imd transmission main problem is that people have
12:05a lot of questions about this gearbox reliability wise since it's a manual um obviously there are
12:10sensors inside the gearbox that will
12:15that actually helps engage it so okay so we'll be doing a red line over here so we'll be pulling in
12:21two three gears my foot again is not at all there let me keep it on the side so let's just quickly go
12:28red lining six and a half just shift again red lining six and a half shift
12:40it's as easy and this car definitely pulls i mean for 118 bhp car it has got that punch so since as
12:49the turbo kicks in it is just fantastic six gears and you will get around 12 to 13
12:58kilometers per liter within the city on the highway this claims around 18 you should get close to
13:03that this does not have um cruise control but overall it's a good car good gearbox and how exactly
13:10does this work is that if i am on second gear and if i rev the car so there's a sensor in this uh stick
13:18shift so as you move it the slightest move also triggers that you want to shift a gear and it will
13:27not allow you to rev it will become neutral so we are doing around 4000 rpm and if i just move this
13:34little bit you can see i cannot throttle it third fourth fifth and sixth and we have some intruders on the
13:46road so yeah very nice it's actually pretty cool to do this it gives you that manual engagement and
13:56it does not even bother you in heavy traffic so in heavy traffic condition i think this gearbox is
14:06really really nice let me just reverse and show you the camera as i was showing it to you this reverse
14:12quickly to a reverse turn over here there you go go to reverse there's a flip switch over here you just
14:19press this move it to first and then engage there you can see you have your adaptive guidelines with
14:26sensors and yep so once you've crossed 10 kilometers the screen will go off that's about it
14:39so yeah guys this was the kia sonnet imt turbo petrol pretty good car i would say pretty
14:47nice gearbox it's very confusing to some people how this technology works but this is something that
14:55has really eased of a lot of people because some people don't want to drive an automatic they want
15:00a manual car but but in traffic they are like why do we have to use the clutch so much so there you go
