00:00At its core, Republicans want to limit how much the U.S. will spend next year in 2024 to roughly
00:05$1.47 trillion, even though it was technically already agreed upon. The technicality that the
00:13Republicans argue is that was the debt ceiling, the limit, and that we shouldn't use all the money
00:19because that's the limit. No different than if you were to be approved for a credit card of
00:23$5,000 a month in revolving credit doesn't mean you should be using all of it every single month.
00:29So the Republicans want concessions. They want the U.S. to spend roughly $120 billion less
00:35than what was previously agreed upon. Then they'll pass a CR, a continuing resolution,
00:42which allows the government to stay open while they negotiate the bigger problems.
