00:00Check this out. In 2002, 62% of Americans were invested in the stock market.
00:05Then the 2008 financial meltdown happened, which shook people out of the markets,
00:08until 2013, when we reached a 20-year low with just 52% of people owning stocks.
00:15April 2013 was also the year Robinhood came out,
00:18and I remember this because that's when I started to get into investing,
00:21and so did a lot of other people, which is why after 2013,
00:24the amount of people that own stocks started to go up.
00:27Now, the most recent Gallup poll shows that today, in 2022,
00:31the amount of people that own stocks is at roughly 58%.
00:35So even though we've grown in the last almost 10 years,
00:38it's only growth by about 6%, which is still below what it was 20 years ago.
