00:00You probably want some rules, I bet.
00:02No!
00:05Blood on the Clock Tower is a social deduction game of lies and logic with a storyteller to run the game.
00:12In the sleepy town of Ravenswood Bluff, a demon is amongst us.
00:16And it's up to the townspeople to find out who the demon is before it kills them.
00:21Each game of Blood on the Clock Tower follows a script that defines the roles and goals of the players and villains.
00:27At the outset of the game, each player receives either a good or evil token with their unique character and ability on it.
00:34The good team, made up of the helpful townsfolk and the less helpful outsiders, wins if they can piece together their knowledge and execute the demon.
00:44The evil team, made up of the demon and their minions, lie about who they are and what they know to appear good.
00:52They win if they can sow distrust, spread disinformation, and wipe out the village.
00:58Death is not the end for players in this game, but it does mean a player's special power stops working,
01:03they only get one more ghost vote for the rest of the game, and they can no longer nominate people for execution,
01:10but they may continue to actively participate in discussions, and they can keep working together to piece together the mystery.
01:16Gameplay is made up of two phases.
01:18In the night phase, the storyteller wakes up players with certain abilities one by one and gives them information or asks them to make choices.
01:27In the day phase, players interact by sharing information or bold-faced lying.
01:33After some discussion, players nominate who they think should be executed.
01:37If enough people vote for a nominee, they're considered on the block to die.
01:41Day and night phases continue until either the demon is killed, or until the demon is one of the last two players left alive.
01:51All right, everybody, the first thing we've got to do is hand out tokens, and we're going to be playing Trouble Brewing.
01:57This is the script we always start with.
01:59Chris, maybe we can, like, switch it up?
02:01Switch it up a little bit.
02:02If you're sitting in one of the big chairs, reach below you and grab what you find.
02:08There's big tall, and then there's big big.
02:10Wow.
02:10Whoa.
02:11Oh, thank you.
02:12We...
02:13Oh, my God.
02:13It says the script's been here the whole time.
02:16That's right.
02:17That's really good.
02:18This script is really similar to Trouble Brewing with a couple little changes.
02:22One, you'll notice that there is an outsider on this script called Rekha.
02:26If there are five or more players alive, you must vote for every nomination.
02:30This is just to reflect Rekha's enthusiasm for the democratic process in general.
02:34Listen, you should be a super voter.
02:36I've always said that.
02:37Rekha votes multiple times every election.
02:39I vote for every candidate in every election.
02:42She's always in the river, grabbing those ballots that were dumped in there and voting with all of them.
02:47That's so cool.
02:48What?
02:48Is Rekha always...
02:50Is Rekha Rekha?
02:50No.
02:51Rekha is a token that will be in the bag.
02:53Rekha is a token.
02:54Wow, Chris does it.
02:56Finally, someone said it.
02:59We're all thinking.
03:00So, second, let's look at our demon, which is no longer the imp.
03:04In this case, the demon is Sam.
03:06Yeah, it checks.
03:07In every case.
03:08See, this will motivate.
03:09Because Sam Reich is a bit of a puppet master, in this case, the demon is very similar to the imp.
03:14Each night, choose a player, they die.
03:16If you kill yourself this way, a minion becomes Sam.
03:20However, you see in the brackets there, it says plus the marionette.
03:23That means that there might be a marionette in this game.
03:26The marionette reads, you think you are a good character, but you are not.
03:29No.
03:30Oh, my God.
03:31No, he didn't.
03:32So, the token that the person draws is going to be good.
03:34It's going to be a blue good token.
03:36Oh, no.
03:37This is already so confusing.
03:40So, whoever the demon is, their neighbor, who thinks they are good, might or might not actually be evil.
03:49And I will say that if you are the marionette, your ability doesn't work.
03:54You're just like a drunk, but you're evil.
03:56Okay, we're ready to hand out tokens.
03:58To determine our roles, everyone is going to reach into the bag and pull out a token.
04:02In this game, there may be up to eight villagers and outsiders, one demon, also known as the Sam, and two minions.
04:10All right.
04:11Are we all ready to play Blood on the Clock Tower?
04:13Yes.
04:15In that case, our energy is high.
04:18Let's go to sleep.
04:22I'm nominating Allie so fast.
04:25A friendly reminder to those of you playing along at home, the game takes place in phases of day and night.
04:30During the night phase, Chris will deliver special information to some of the players.
04:34He will also check with the Sam to see which villager is to be killed.
04:38Good morning, town.
04:43I guess we'll never know what I think of.
04:45I'd like to say that some storytellers write flavor text.
04:48Some use AI.
04:50I didn't do either, because I'm a lazy guy.
04:53I'm dead.
04:54He brought it!
04:56I've been killed here in Ravenswood Bluff.
04:58And you'll have some time now to go have your private chats and figure out what the heck is going on.
05:03And we'll call you back to town in just a little bit.
05:05I didn't know he could be killed.
05:06Rake, I'll talk to you.
05:07Okay, I'll talk to you.
05:08We have the green room, the loft, and hair and makeup.
05:11The loft!
05:11The loft! Go figure it out!
05:14Okay.
