UPDATE ON THE HOTTEST SHOWS AT THE MOMENT.
Transcript
00:00Is everybody ready?
00:02Hit those horns!
00:04This weekend is one of the biggest events for Apocalypse,
00:07the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
00:10Last year, you did 15 trucks at the West Palm Boat Show.
00:13I would like to hit 25 cars.
00:15That's the expectation.
00:17If the entire family can play nice for this one event,
00:20maybe we could actually accomplish something big.
00:22How did you sell that show?
00:24The only reason you sold three was because I planned the entire show.
00:26Well, thank you for the planning.
00:30The new electric Hummer just came out,
00:32and we're gonna turn this thing into a monster.
00:34Once upon a time, the Hummer was the alpha predator of the off-road vehicle.
00:38That's what this thing's gonna look like.
00:40There is no kit off the shelf we could buy for this.
00:42We're gonna have to make everything from scratch,
00:44but we're the only shop in town taking the new electric Hummer
00:47and lifting it, making it awesome.
00:50This runs at 800 volts.
00:51Guys, be wary. Don't tear any wires.
00:53The orange ones will stop your heart.
00:56It's a whole lot of orange.
00:58See these cars out there?
01:00Fortunately, I do see those cars out there.
01:02Well, they're cars that we want to drive over.
01:04Oh, my God, Joe, stop!
01:06Oh, Joe, I don't like it.
01:08Does this separate?
01:26Yeah.
01:27It comes off?
01:28Yeah.
01:29Yeah, you need it to.
01:30The bridge needs to be that thick.
01:32Yeah, it's floppy.
01:34We're completely moved into the shop now, and we're actually taking along 20, 25 cars a week
01:40and building some cool projects.
01:42Once you weld this in, we can take the whole thing to paint.
01:45What is this?
01:47Joe!
01:48This is the executive seven-seater, bro.
01:51It has a rear seat in it?
01:52Oh, yeah.
01:53You know how I came up with this?
01:54Remember I was going to Orlando for that car show?
01:56Yeah.
01:57And I was asking the kids, we got two car seats in the back.
01:59As soon as you throw two car seats in the back, like, that's it.
02:01Car's full.
02:02I was like, I'm driving this gigantic vehicle, but I can't fit that many people.
02:06Right.
02:07I took the bench that used to be back here, sticking it all the way against the back,
02:11right?
02:12Then I took two extra driver seats.
02:13This is on a rail.
02:14You can go back and forth.
02:15You're riding in the back of the truck like an executive.
02:17Hop in there.
02:18Let me show you how executive it really is.
02:20I'm at Apocalypse because I have a customer meeting me here today.
02:23Every time I walk around here, Joe's always working on something new.
02:27And sure enough, a seven-seater 6x6, the family edition.
02:32It's what everyone always wanted.
02:34Joe knew it.
02:35This is so nice.
02:37Lay back in the 6x6.
02:39Right?
02:40To have a 6x6 and to have seven people in it with you, it's pretty awesome.
02:45I think you're going to sell the crap out of these.
02:46It's incredible.
02:47Yeah, right?
02:48So what's up?
02:49Chris O'Connor's here.
02:50He wants to talk to you about maybe building a new truck.
02:52Okay.
02:53I'm going to button up a couple of things with him and I'll catch up to you.
02:55Awesome, Joe.
02:56Everybody's seven-seater.
02:57Seven-seater.
02:58Seven-seater 6x6.
03:07Where are you coming from?
03:08I've been traveling like crazy.
03:10Yeah, where?
03:11Wine Country?
03:12Wine Country, Oregon.
03:13Oregon.
03:14Awesome.
03:15Land of the Pinot.
03:16Yeah, exactly.
03:17I'm Chardonnay now.
03:18Probably nothing six-track because if I take it out to Oregon, they're going to rip me to shreds.
03:22Is that the goal?
03:23You want to bring it out to Wine Country?
03:24Definitely.
03:25Oh, awesome.
03:26Yeah.
03:27What's the terrain like out there?
03:28It's a mud bath.
03:29Mud?
03:30Yeah, it's got to be able to hold up in some heavy-duty .
03:33Oh, you got to go big.
03:34Yeah.
03:35Big would be good.
03:36Chris O'Connor has been buying trucks from us for years, but Chris is definitely not our
03:40typical customer.
03:41The most recent truck was a retro-style Gladiator with a complete electric conversion.
03:47What's up, buddy?
03:48What's up, Joe?
03:49Wait till you hear what he's talking about.
03:50What do you got?
03:51Totally against everything I always get.
03:53So, bigger, better, high, you know, just a statement.
03:58I always thought you weren't into it.
03:59My big monstrosities.
04:00He's changed.
04:01Yeah, well, it's for Oregon.
04:03The vineyard, I want something big and high.
04:06Okay.
04:07Because we got to take, like, you know, people on tours through the vineyards.
04:10It's always raining.
04:12But in Oregon, you have to really be cognizant of the fact that they are really green there.
04:17So, we need it to be something that's electric.
04:20It'd be nice to make, you know, some kind of statement.
04:23Something that really turns heads.
04:25People are going to go, what the hell is that?
04:27Electric vehicle's got a bad rap.
04:29When you think electric car, you think something terribly underpowered, short range.
04:32But they've really come a long way.
04:34They're putting down 1,000 horsepower, 1,000 foot pounds of torque in Mom's soccer car that she goes get groceries in.
04:40And she can smoke you off the light in your Ferrari in her, you know, four-door sedan.
04:44So, monster truck gets you through the vineyards.
04:47Yep.
04:48Electric.
04:49What about the Hummer?
04:50I was in a Hummer, like, two weeks ago up in South Carolina.
04:53The thing was nice.
04:54The new electric one?
04:55Yeah, and it was fast.
04:56What comes stock on that?
04:5735-inch tires?
04:58Yeah, they run 35s.
04:5935s.
05:00But they're pretty low, right?
05:01Yeah, it was easy to get into.
05:03But, I mean, we could probably sneak in an inch or two and, you know, get 37s.
05:07You got to go bigger than 37s, Chris.
05:09How big can we go?
05:10Joe, 38s, 40s?
05:1240s?
05:1340s?
05:1440s sounds good.
05:15And I'm going to run 40s on a Hummer, you know?
05:17You can go a little bit bigger than a factory tire without having to do a whole lot.
05:20If you go too big, now we've got to make some room for the wheel to swing left and right.
05:24We've got to carve back some.
05:26You can do that on a regular pickup truck or a Jeep that I've dealt with a hundred times.
05:29I don't know what's back there in this truck.
05:31I don't know where that battery starts and ends, where there's, you know, high voltage wiring back there.
05:35You take a Sawzall into a battery, that's a bad day.
05:39Real bad day.
05:40But the problem with the Hummer is it's brand new.
05:42It just came out, right?
05:43Yeah.
05:44It's not a lift kit for this thing.
05:45It's nothing I can go out there and buy and, like, make it taller.
05:46That didn't stop us, really, on the Gladiator at all, so.
05:51Good point.
05:52Good point.
05:53Um, I can make something.
05:55Yes!
05:56I can make something.
05:58I don't know how tall we can go, but I can make something.
06:02So we're going to go, like, up to here?
06:04Up to here?
06:05Up to here.
06:06Yeah, why not?
06:07You're cool with that.
06:08Why not?
06:09Yeah, taller than Frankie is, like, taller than Frankie has to happen.
06:12Everything's taller than Frankie.
06:14You're okay, bro.
06:15I'm sweating.
06:16I've got my work cut out for me, but I get the direction.
06:19The Wine Country eco-friendly mud destroyer.
06:23Total.
06:25Some of the challenges of taking a brand new electric vehicle that just hit the market
06:29and modifying it is that there's nothing out there for this thing.
06:33We're going to have to make everything from scratch, piece by piece, and test fit it all.
06:37That's going to be fun, man.
06:38It's going to be crazy.
06:39It's going to be the biggest thing Oregon's ever seen.
06:48Wow, Jaris.
06:49What are you thinking?
06:50I'm thinking that I have these cars that were supposed to be lined up, and they're not.
06:54Seth.
06:55Yeah, coming.
06:56Guys, this way, please.
06:57Everyone over here.
06:58Are we taking the green hellfire?
07:00We're taking the green hellfire.
07:01Yeah, that's on the list.
07:02This weekend is one of the biggest events for Apocalypse in the calendar year.
07:07The Palm Beach International Boat Show.
07:09You're talking about $5 to $10 million speedboats all the way up to $50 and $100 million luxury liners.
07:18Over 50,000 people coming to this event every year.
07:22You're talking about rich-ass clients, so Apocalypse has to be there.
07:27And this year, I got permission to bring 10 sample trucks.
07:32This is going to be a big year for us.
07:34Let's convene over here so we just go over this stuff.
07:38So last year, you did what? 15 trucks at the West Palm Boat Show?
07:41Yep.
07:42We have a new facility now, a nice, big, expensive facility.
07:45I would like to hit 25 cars.
07:48That's the expectation?
07:50We need to make sure that we hit our target.
07:53Every year, we got to do a little bit better.
07:55This year, we got to do a lot of it better to help cover a lot of the new expenses.
07:58You know, with the move into the warehouse and all that good stuff.
08:01The setup allows for 25 cars to be hit.
08:04I love that.
08:05We're bringing 10 trucks.
08:06We should sell them all quick.
08:07Seth, talk.
08:08All right.
08:09Not our first rodeo.
08:10We've done these boat shows before.
08:12This year, it's going to be the best one we've ever had.
08:14A couple of reasons.
08:16One, boat trip.
08:18The new, improved 2024 Hellfire.
08:22Okay.
08:23Our biggest, our baddest, the juggernaut.
08:25Okay.
08:26Why don't we take the red one, too?
08:28We're not taking the red one.
08:29That's a nice truck.
08:30It's not on the list.
08:31But that's a nice truck.
08:32What about the red one?
08:33We're not.
08:34No, the green one's fine.
08:35We've already decided what cars.
08:36Exactly.
08:37But we should have a red one.
08:38It stands out.
08:39Me and Seth methodically picked the ones that will do the best.
08:41So let's just...
08:42I think you're wrong.
08:43That's a good idea.
08:44I think you're wrong.
08:45Why don't we take the red one anyway?
08:46Dad, I swear to God, today is not the day.
08:49Gary, I sold three last show.
08:52Are we still talking about this?
08:53I mean, I just want you to know I sold three last...
08:55How many did you sell that show?
08:57None.
08:58Zero.
08:59The only reason you sold three was because I planned the entire show.
09:00Well, thank you for the planning, but listen to me.
09:02You got a drink in there.
09:04He needs a shot of something.
09:05Will you stop going at me if I bring the red truck?
09:08Yeah.
09:09Then fine.
09:10We'll bring the red truck.
09:11Then you probably have to sell it.
09:12That's okay.
09:13I'm all right with that.
09:14I'll sell that thing.
09:15That's the spirit.
09:16That's what's up.
09:17Everybody get in line.
09:19We're going to put the cars up right now.
09:21We'll all be behind the wheel.
09:23Follow our lead.
09:24We got this.
09:27Back in, Dad.
09:28Be careful.
09:29Frank, stop.
09:30Dad, go.
09:31Pull it up front.
09:33Stop.
09:34Come on.
09:36Stop it.
09:37I feel like Jerry complicates this more than it needs to be.
09:40I'm just, like, trying not to freak out.
09:42I'm trying to hold it all together.
09:44Is everybody ready?
09:46Hit those horns!
09:49Let's get some cars!
09:51Yeah!
09:53Jerry!
09:54What?
09:55Gas is empty.
09:56Oh, my God.
10:10What's up, Daniel?
10:11What's up?
10:12Gus one, Gus two, Jesse, Elias, and Kevin.
10:16See Joe.
10:17You're going to like what we build with this thing.
10:19Today, we're going to get started on Chris's build.
10:20We've never done most of this stuff before.
10:23I'm expecting to be a lot of bumps in the road,
10:25and we're just kind of figured as we go.
10:27Once upon a time, the Hummer was the alpha predator
10:30of the off-road vehicle.
10:32Used it in the military.
10:33They even called one the alpha.
10:34Want to, like, re-embody all that old-school Hummer,
10:37you know, military look in this thing, right?
10:39I want it to be just ridiculous.
10:41Chris wants the hood of this truck to be taller than Frankie,
10:43so we'll need to custom design a lift kit ourselves
10:46using reinforced control arms and spindles
10:48that can support and lift the heavy weight of this vehicle.
10:51Then, for added height, we'll need to carve out the wheel wells
10:54to try to fit the biggest tires possible.
10:56I'd love to try for 43-inch tires if we can swing it.
11:00I want to give this truck some of that old-school military Hummer look,
11:03so we'll add a fastback and some fiberglass door panels,
11:06and since safety is key for the guests in Chris's vineyard,
11:09we'll create an exoskeleton that'll act as a roll cage.
11:12This is like a Mad Max situation here.
11:14This is not the Hummer you go pick up at a dealership.
11:16This is the Hummer that you pictured in your head
11:18when you were a kid, and you were like,
11:19I want to drive a Hummer.
11:20That's what this thing's going to look like.
11:22When I first started working here,
11:23I wouldn't look twice at an EV vehicle like that,
11:27but after we started working on them,
11:29just opened my eyes towards them,
11:30because the power, the torque, the response is just unheard of
11:33for any regular street car or production car
11:36to come out of the factory with.
11:38Let's get this thing up in the air,
11:39and let's get an idea of what that suspension looks like.
11:41Never seen one.
11:42There is no kit off the shelf we could buy for this.
11:44This is all going to be out of your brain.
11:46All right?
11:47All right.
11:48Let's rack it up.
11:49Yep.
11:50Oh!
11:51Okay, ready.
11:53Up you go.
11:54Keep going.
11:55Come on.
12:05Guys, be wary.
12:06Don't tear any wires,
12:07because the orange ones will stop your heart.
12:10It's a whole lot of orange.
12:12They make these cables bright orange for a reason.
12:15They've got 800 volts running through them.
12:17Just so you know,
12:18800 volts is enough to stop your heart dead in its tracks,
12:20and I don't want somebody to nick one
12:22with a razor blade by accident,
12:23and it'll just fry and cook them.
12:25All right.
12:26We're at that point, guys.
12:28Secure these things where you want to secure them.
12:30Yep.
12:31So we've got the subframe on four legs.
12:34We plan to take the car off of it
12:37and just watch these two separate ever so slowly.
12:39See what wires, what sensors, what hoses,
12:42what's pulling, what's getting tight,
12:44what's coming with it,
12:45and that's going to be the dangerous and tricky part.
12:47Keep coming down.
12:48Can you see it?
12:49Can you see it?
12:50Yeah?
12:51Yep.
12:52This thing stays that level.
12:53It makes me think that it's being hung by something in the middle.
12:56Can anybody sneak a peek on the top of this thing somehow?
12:58All the way.
12:59No wires stretched?
13:00Nothing spazzed out?
13:01No.
13:02And pretty good here as well.
13:04Okay.
13:05Put the pressure back on the legs,
13:07and let's bring these bolts down.
13:10This is your upper control arm.
13:12This is your lower control arm.
13:13This is the spindle.
13:14So as we bring this thing down,
13:16this spindle needs to reach the upper control arm, right?
13:19So this gap in here we're going to have to fabricate.
13:22All right.
13:23I think I figured out how to extend this thing.
13:26My idea would be, like,
13:27we can cut this thing over here and extend it.
13:30Any change in angle in this thing,
13:31and the car's never going to align properly again.
13:33Never going to align.
13:34So what I do is...
13:36So when everything's locked, I can cut it.
13:38Slice it.
13:39Slide this down the extent of the height.
13:41Yes.
13:42Lock it back in and weld this back together.
13:44Yes.
13:45Can we hack one up?
13:46Yes.
13:47You know we can't own any parts for these cars, right?
13:49Right.
13:50Anywhere.
13:51They're brand new.
13:52So no pressure on me now.
13:53No pressure.
13:54Go ahead.
13:55All right.
13:56Here we go.
13:57There's a reason people don't make these kits themselves.
13:59This spindle fabrication alone,
14:00it's going to take gusting between 30 to 60 hours.
14:03You're dead on.
14:04Yep.
14:05Very cool.
14:06If it doesn't work,
14:07I've just taken a $115,000 car and made it a paperweight
14:10until they start supplying parts for this thing.
14:13But if it does work,
14:15we're the only shop in town taking the new electric hummer
14:18and lifting it and making it awesome.
14:30Jerry and Jerry Sr. take one.
14:34What's up Jerry Sr.?
14:35What's up Jerry Jr.?
14:36Dad had a lot of advice and ideas.
14:39He didn't seem very interesting.
14:41He has great ideas.
14:43I love his ideas.
14:44The boat show is just not the proper venue for his ideas.
14:47I got Joe breathing down my neck.
14:49I got Ashley supervising.
14:51I don't need him to throw gasoline on the fire.
14:53That's the wrong color car.
14:55That's not the right build.
14:56Why is this car coming?
14:57Why is this car coming?
14:58It's an opinion.
14:59Okay?
15:00It's my opinion.
15:01But it's okay.
15:02From now on, I won't say anything.
15:04I don't want you not to say anything.
15:06Okay.
15:07I'm a good guy.
15:08Dad, you're a smart guy.
15:09Yeah.
15:10Who obviously did an amazing job throughout your entire career,
15:13but that career is coming to a beautiful close.
15:16Hey, 30 more years minimum.
15:27Dude, do you believe this space?
15:30That's what they're saying.
15:31They're clearing this out for us.
15:33It's the entrance.
15:34It's the entrance.
15:35And the first thing they're going to see is boat truck.
15:37Okay.
15:38So let's do this.
15:39Let's get the juggernaut from over here and back it into here.
15:43This location is stellar.
15:45It is the best one we've ever gotten.
15:47My man, Dean, hooked me up.
15:49Thank you, Dean.
15:50Dean.
15:51Hey, Dean.
15:52How are you?
15:53Gary, how are you?
15:54Get closer.
15:55Cut that wheel.
15:56All the way, Sethi.
15:57Dude, thank you for getting us in.
15:58This is the best space.
15:59This is awesome.
16:00You're welcome, man.
16:01This entrance is getting more and more popular, though,
16:04so we might have to reconfigure the space.
16:06I thought we had so many more.
16:07You only have until right there, Jerry.
16:09To where?
16:10Here?
16:11Right there.
16:13How?
16:14The entrance is getting more popular, man.
16:16We got more people coming in the door.
16:20Nightmare, Dean.
16:22I honestly thought all these trucks are going to be featured in the show.
16:25Now Dean's telling me we can't.
16:27We only got room for four.
16:29We're going to need, like, ten more spots, I think.
16:31Dean hooked us up with the spot, but we don't have enough room for all the cars now.
16:34What about boat trucks?
16:35Boat trucks got it here.
16:36We got to at least put it here.
16:37We're going to have boat trucks.
16:38Dean, please.
16:39Boat trucks!
16:40This is not just a miscommunication.
16:43This is sort of a catastrophe.
16:46We're set up for the whole show.
16:49Yeah.
16:50Put the flags up and let's call it a day.
16:52But you know what, Jerry?
16:53I'll be honest with you, okay?
16:55We have a truck that's over $100,000.
16:57We have another truck over $100,000.
16:59We have another $100,000 vehicle.
17:01And over $100,000.
17:02Not everybody wants to spend over $100,000.
17:05Nobody's going to come over here when they see those numbers.
17:07Maybe they only want to spend $50,000, $60,000.
17:10I mean, at the end of the day, listen, I've been doing this for 50 years.
17:14Okay?
17:15Once in a while, you should listen to me.
17:16I know you're a stubborn guy, and I know you know everything,
17:19but sometimes you got to listen to me.
17:21All right, look.
17:22I'm going to handle it.
17:24By the time you come here on Friday, you'll have your cars.
17:28I have 12 hours now to find out how to get five more cars into this show.
17:35Let's go.
17:37Where are we planning to land with this thing?
17:46About there, right?
17:47Following the body line.
17:48Side of here, you've got a blind spot monitor.
17:50I want to make sure that that's clear.
17:52So you just want to come forward another four inches.
17:55So that the metal's not blocking.
17:56Otherwise, it'll detect this metal and just beep, beep, beep all day long, you know?
18:00We're building an exoskeleton right now,
18:02and we're going with a really heavy scheduled aluminum
18:04so that it can actually hold the weight of the car.
18:06This thing's going to be a gigantic people mover.
18:08Really, really tall.
18:09Tall you go, bigger chance of rolling over.
18:12The center of gravity's moved way up.
18:14We want a roll cage around this whole car so if we do flip it,
18:16it doesn't compress everybody on the inside.
18:18Because that, yeah, that would be, squish all the people on the inside.
18:22It's a really bad day.
18:30Gus is working on extending the spindles right now, and we're done with one of them.
18:33We've never done electric Hummer lip kit whatsoever.
18:36So we want to find out if we made enough room and how much tire can we fit.
18:41Oh, yeah.
18:42Look at this monster.
18:4343-inch tires?
18:44That would be ideal.
18:46Are the 43s going to fit?
18:47Are we touching the frame?
18:48Are we touching the front end?
18:50If it's the front end, I've got ways to go.
18:52I'll rip this bumper off and make my own bumper.
18:54If it's the frame, there's only so much I can cut there before I start touching structural,
18:57and I don't want to get into that.
18:59There's a lot of reasons why this won't work,
19:01and we can always go back to a 40-inch tire, but I don't want to.
19:06Let's start setting it down.
19:08That look a lot like 32 to me.
19:10You want to hop in?
19:11Yeah, sure.
19:12All right.
19:13Let's go to the left.
19:14Let's take a look right here.
19:15Keep on.
19:16Keep on.
19:17That's it?
19:18That's it, right?
19:20We're hitting body stuff.
19:22We're not hitting frame stuff.
19:24All right.
19:25Other way, let's have a look.
19:26Tell me when.
19:28Keep going.
19:29Keep going.
19:30Keep going.
19:31And we're hitting stuff, but it's bumper stuff.
19:35That's all the way.
19:36That's all the way?
19:38Oh, we can make that work.
19:40Are you clear?
19:43Are you clear right there?
19:45Clear is up for interpretation, but it can work.
19:49Hey, Gus.
19:50Come over here.
19:51Let me show you something.
19:56Yeah.
19:57It'll work.
19:58Yeah, it's good.
20:0043s it is.
20:01All in favor, say aye.
20:05Still just me?
20:06Damn.
20:07Go big or go home?
20:09We're hitting some plastic trim and some molding on the outside.
20:12That's nowhere near the frame, nowhere near the battery box.
20:15I can cut that out.
20:16It's going to require a lot of body work afterwards to clean it up.
20:18And I think it's worth doing, because just looking at the truck this size, it's very exciting.
20:25The only downside I have now is that the truck is ginormous.
20:28It creates a new problem now.
20:30How do you get in the thing?
20:31Where you're standing right now, is that going to be like, can a normal human get in and out of this vehicle?
20:37Not at all.
20:38It's a pretty, uh, it's a pretty big step right there.
20:41I mean, we need like a normal sized human or, this is called the shortest guy, no?
20:48Hey, Frank, you around?
20:50I am.
20:51What?
20:52Hey, come on.
20:53Why don't you try something?
20:54Oh!
20:55Frank, hey!
20:56Ah, that's awesome.
20:57It's a beast, right?
20:58Oh my God, Joe.
20:59I love it.
21:00Can you hop in and out of this thing?
21:01I'm an athlete.
21:02Yeah, I think so.
21:03You just got out of your car.
21:08You're at the restaurant.
21:09Ah!
21:11Valor.
21:13All you guys like not doing it.
21:15Keep this and have a second step.
21:18Double step?
21:19You got buckets?
21:20I gotta dig that.
21:22Give me one more with the bucket.
21:28Very natural.
21:29Muy facile.
21:31That's what we'll do.
21:32I love it.
21:34Thank you for the short jokes.
21:35Yeah.
21:37You knew they were coming.
21:38We needed an athlete.
21:39That's what I'm here for, right?
21:40Yeah, all right.
21:41It's definitely because you're short.
21:42Jerry.
21:43I don't know, man.
21:44Hopefully the weather stays with us and we'll pull it out.
21:45It was not supposed to rain until after the show.
21:46Have a positive attitude.
21:47The sun's gonna come out.
21:48Those are people that are leaving the show.
21:53We'll be fine.
21:54It's not gonna rain.
21:55It's not gonna rain.
21:56It's not gonna rain.
21:57It's not gonna rain.
21:58It's not gonna rain.
21:59It's not gonna rain.
22:00It's not gonna rain.
22:01It's not gonna rain.
22:02It's not gonna rain.
22:03It's not.
22:04It's not.
22:05It's not gonna rain.
22:06It's not gonna rain.
22:07We're gonna rain.
22:08The sun's gonna come out.
22:09Those are people that are leaving the show.
22:11We'll be fine.
22:12It's not gonna rain.
22:13It's not gonna rain.
22:14It's not gonna rain.
22:15It's not gonna rain.
22:16It's not going to ring. It's not going to ring.
22:38Everyone ready? Know what we got to do?
22:40Jerry, this is miserable.
22:41I don't care, Frank.
22:43Come here, Seth. Real quick.
22:45Good news is I got more trucks in the show.
22:47We have a second location.
22:48Really? Nice.
22:49Where?
22:50On the other side.
22:51Go take a look.
22:52I had to pull a few strings, talk to some higher-ups.
22:56We're good.
22:57I got us a second location.
22:59Jerry comes through.
23:00Now we just need to line up 25 sales in a rainstorm.
23:04Oh, is this the area?
23:06Yes, that's the area.
23:08Awesome. Well done.
23:09One, two, three, four cars under $100,000.
23:13Jerry, good job.
23:15You like it?
23:15Oh, I love it.
23:16Are you kidding?
23:17Look at this.
23:18My dad was right.
23:19Lower-priced cars sell quicker.
23:21I'm going to sneak a few cheapies in here.
23:24Dad might see this as a peace offering and sell a lot of trucks.
23:28You want to buy a truck?
23:29We're right here.
23:31Good old boat truck.
23:32Step right up and see boat truck.
23:35Boat Show is a different kind of sales venue than anything we ever do.
23:38Most of the deals aren't consummated right there on the grounds of the boat show.
23:43You're collecting information to take a deposit.
23:46It's actually after the show for the next four days that you get all those sales.
23:51The people aren't showing up, though.
23:53And if the people aren't showing up, I'm really handcuffed.
23:56There's not much I can do.
24:07Hey, guys.
24:08Are you adding any more metal?
24:15No.
24:15All grinding.
24:17All grinding.
24:19Gus has been welding spindles for almost three days straight right now.
24:22I mean, he's just over there cooking.
24:23I'm not trying to rush him on it because I want it done right.
24:26And we're coming up on the finish line.
24:28Looks like he's about ready, and we can give these things a try.
24:31We know the front tires will work.
24:33Now it's the moment of truth for the back tires.
24:36All right, you want me to come down any more or are you good?
24:37Yeah, we're good.
24:39All right.
24:39Here.
24:42Awesome.
24:43Look at that thing.
24:45Let's wrestle these tires on here.
24:47Come on.
24:47We got the 43-inch tire on there.
25:06We've got the truck lifted to six inches, right?
25:07But now the tire is touching the spindle.
25:10See the spindle here, the part that we made?
25:12It's a lot thicker than it used to be.
25:14The option I don't have is to trim the spindle down.
25:16I need that thing fixed.
25:17As big as it can be, so I can support the way it sucks.
25:20So the tire has these same nubs on the inside of it, right?
25:32This one sticks out too much.
25:34All I can do is trim those tire nubs off.
25:36You're going to lose a little bit of them, so I can lose that spindle.
25:39Get that tire to stop touching.
25:41Looks like James has already got started.
25:42Smaller tire, yeah, that was an option.
25:51This is all Frank's fault, right?
25:52I took 38s.
25:55He was egging the guy on.
25:5640s, go bigger, bigger.
26:01Prayer to the metal gods that this thing turns on.
26:06These advanced electric vehicles, you've got some sensors that are off
26:10or things that are blocked or a safety feature that's not.
26:12not making contact.
26:14It just won't drive.
26:16Good sign.
26:18That is a great sign.
26:19The screens are on.
26:21It says we have 71% battery.
26:23I love it.
26:23All right, the moment of truth.
26:26I just felt power steering come to life.
26:29Power steering is alive.
26:30Go into reverse.
26:32Oh, my God.
26:34It's working.
26:36It's working.
26:39Oh, and it turns these 43s like it's its job.
26:42Oh, look.
26:44What just happened?
26:45Said there was a person behind me and it stopped.
26:47So all the sensors are working and doing the right thing.
26:53Oh, tremendous.
26:54We're on the road, guys.
26:57Hey.
26:59We cranked it up, came to life.
27:01It feels great.
27:02We've got some loose ends to tie up.
27:04We've got some welding, some cleaning up, some paint, whatnot.
27:06But I'm really excited to show this thing to Chris.
27:10I'm really happy.
27:11I don't know if this is what he had in mind when he was talking about a truck that'll go around the vineyards.
27:17Because I think we kind of went over the top.
27:20But I'm so proud of it.
27:29Excellent.
27:30Yeah.
27:30Bring it down.
27:31Perfect.
27:32Let's go.
27:33Push it.
27:36Beautiful.
27:36Good job.
27:37Where's everybody?
27:38Jasmine, Marquis.
27:40Dad's talking.
27:42Frankie.
27:42Come here.
27:44It's been two full days of nonstop rain.
27:48It's been tough.
27:49These guys somehow pulled through.
27:50They sold six or seven.
27:52You know, even if everything today works perfectly, 25 is going to be a very hard number to hit.
28:00Let's sell, sell, sell.
28:02Focus.
28:03And let's do it, okay?
28:04Sell on three?
28:05No.
28:05No, no.
28:06Just go and do your job.
28:09And you get your head right.
28:10Let's go.
28:10Come on, guys.
28:13Who's coming?
28:14We need a boat truck.
28:15Let's go.
28:15Let's do it.
28:15Let's go.
28:20This is boat truck.
28:22265 horsepower from a factory.
28:24Over 300 pounds feet of torque.
28:25It goes about 8 to 10 knots.
28:27Oh, ****.
28:28Boat truck.
28:29Boat truck.
28:29I love it.
28:30I love it.
28:31What's your number?
28:31I'll send you a link to what we built.
28:33Behold the Apocalypse Mega Rex.
28:3540-inch tires.
28:36If you could imagine a color or a stitch, I'm sure we could do it for you.
28:40I'm going to text you my name and the information.
28:42At the end of the day, we sell some pretty cool trucks at a super reasonable price.
28:47This one for $69,000 is, come on.
28:50Tell me when you want to come by.
28:52We'll give you a test drive.
28:52See how it is.
28:53Perfect.
28:53I'll give you all my contact.
28:54Perfect.
28:55We're sort of, like, chugging through this.
28:58The weather's there.
28:59We're the salesmen of high energy, and there's a lot of people.
29:02And our cars look good.
29:04What do you think?
29:05You love it?
29:06I have a Gladiator already.
29:07I can help you.
29:08Tomorrow, what I'll do is I'll send you the information, and we go for mail.
29:11Nice to meet you.
29:12I talk to a lot of customers.
29:14I still have maybe 25, 30 leads to go.
29:17The number's still going to come in.
29:18It's like an election.
29:21You know, you don't have the final count until it's over.
29:24Oh, we got to wrap it up.
29:25All right.
29:25That's it.
29:26I sold the hellfire.
29:29That's all.
29:29Dad, thank you.
29:31Today, the weather's held out, which I'm so thankful for.
29:35I'm not 100% smiling, but I'm close to it.
29:40I'm freaking exhausted.
29:42Let's get out of here, guys.
29:44Let's do it, guys.
29:45It's been tough.
29:4625 is going to be pretty hard to hit.
29:49I didn't have enough days.
29:50I didn't have enough cooperation with the weather.
29:53But usually in the first three or four days, after the boat show ends, that's when all the deals come in.
30:07Oh, yeah.
30:08Look at that money.
30:09Money.
30:09Chris is going to be here shortly.
30:21We're just doing some last-minute touch-up fitting and adjusting and whatnot to make this thing look right.
30:26Great work.
30:27Looks really good.
30:28Really good.
30:29I want Chris to see this thing for the first time and just be blown away.
30:33Okay, let's go.
30:34So this thing's ahead of schedule, behind schedule?
30:41What's the story?
30:42If I told you I'd know, I'd be lying.
30:44Are we going to get it, like, a little bit higher than you or what?
30:47All right.
30:48We wait, my brother.
30:52It's electric.
30:52You're not going to hear it.
30:53Oh, yeah.
30:57Oh, s***.
30:59Oh, yes.
31:00Wow.
31:02Oh, yes.
31:03Oh, that is awesome.
31:06He puts steps so I can get down.
31:11That's not high enough.
31:13What?
31:16No, it's crazy high.
31:19This is the world's first lifted EV Hummer ever.
31:22So nobody else has something like this?
31:24Nobody.
31:25Nobody.
31:25I searched, verified.
31:27There's not a kit.
31:28There's not an option.
31:29No one's even tried it.
31:30Cool.
31:31And I know why.
31:31Each one of these spindles had to be handmade.
31:34And if you'll notice, you guys talked about 38s, maybe 40s.
31:38We landed on 43s.
31:40For the first time you tell me, go big, Joe, I'm going to go big.
31:42There you go.
31:43And I figured, you know, I don't want to let you down.
31:45This is definitely big.
31:46We've got custom handmade aluminum roll cage all around the entire truck so that it can just
31:51plow through anything.
31:52Probably don't want to plow through the vineyard, but if you had to, right, it's moving everything
31:56out of your way.
31:56I want it to be an indestructible truck.
31:58It's 100% electric.
32:00Bring back all the old school Hummer stuff, right?
32:02The doors with the squares.
32:04We went with the slant back top.
32:06Got tons of room for gear up top.
32:08Tons of room with stuff in the back.
32:09That is awesome.
32:11It's definitely a home run.
32:12I love the way it looks for the front.
32:13Really?
32:14Yeah.
32:14It's awesome.
32:15That's good.
32:16Yeah, that's kind of a good thing.
32:19Let's take this thing for a rip.
32:20Yeah?
32:21Are you ready?
32:22Yes.
32:22Are you excited?
32:24Super excited.
32:26Oh, Lord.
32:26What are we about to get into?
32:28Oh, we're just going to go for a nice, easy drive.
32:34There she goes.
32:35So it's really slow.
32:37Hey, look, she handles nice.
32:38These electric vehicles are quick, man.
32:41It's as big and bad and mean of electric cars you can get.
32:44It's got 200 kilowatts of power on board.
32:471,000 horsepower.
32:49It's got 1,000 foot-pounds of torque.
32:51Torque.
32:51Torque, Ash.
32:53What?
32:54If I have another kid, I would name him Torque.
32:56I know it.
32:57I love that.
32:57You would name the kid Torque?
32:59Yeah.
32:59I think my next dog is going to be Torque.
33:02Chris!
33:02You can't do that.
33:05Chris, what do you think, man?
33:07I'm kind of in shock that it's exactly what I wanted.
33:10Completely EV, completely friendly for the environment, completely lifted.
33:15I was worried about looking over vineyards, but we can actually look over palm trees here.
33:19They get so high.
33:21We can see right over everything, so it's perfect.
33:23I think we just went over a car.
33:26We didn't even notice it.
33:28I love that that's where your mind's going, because I got something I'd like to show you.
33:32It drove great, but it's not what we built it for.
33:34We drive down the road before I touched it.
33:36I got the boys to set up a little something in the donut zone, so we can show Chris what
33:39this thing can really do.
33:41You see what it feels like on the road?
33:42Yep.
33:42But that's not where this thing shines.
33:44Nothing.
33:46Just walking around.
33:47No big deal.
33:49Oh, boy.
33:52We're talking about the vineyards, and it's mucky and whatnot there.
33:57Nothing.
33:58What not at all?
33:58It's just pure muck.
33:59This thing walks through like a breeze.
34:01Up on the side here.
34:04Look at the crew watching.
34:06I love that camaraderie.
34:08We're just hopping around.
34:09Woo-hoo!
34:11So awesome.
34:12What can't this thing do, you know?
34:20What are we doing?
34:22See these cars out there?
34:23Unfortunately, I do see those cars out there.
34:25Well, they're cars that we want to drive over.
34:28And you mentioned when we were driving around, you had the same feeling I did when I test drove
34:31this thing.
34:31I was like, yes, I want to drive over stuff.
34:34Yes, we want to drive over stuff.
34:35Yes.
34:36Now, that car's a little taller than I thought it would be, and a little narrower than I
34:40thought it would be.
34:41Yeah.
34:41So, we're going to see how this goes.
34:43This is awesome.
34:44Yes, Joe.
34:45Let's do it.
34:46All right.
34:46Let's get up there.
34:47Joe, go slow.
34:52Go, go, go.
34:56Oh, my God.
34:57This is so stupid.
35:00Joe, stop.
35:01Hang on tight, ladies and gentlemen.
35:03We're going to be okay.
35:04Oh, Joe, I don't like it.
35:16Joe, when I see the interview, take one.
35:18Mark it.
35:19What's it like when Joe goes a little too far?
35:22Um, when he does go overboard, he always does find a very quick fix.
35:28Joe's a really good problem solver.
35:31Thanks.
35:31Thanks.
35:32But I have to say that when he does go overboard, it's because he didn't listen to me.
35:37Right?
35:38I mean, come on.
35:38You have to attest to that.
35:40He's waiting to where we get there.
35:42Joe can fix anything.
35:43Like, it's really, he's amazing.
35:45Did I ever tell you, one time we first started dating and he dropped the keys to the car
35:49in the water near the boat.
35:51And there was a speaker and he goes, speakers have magnets in them.
35:54I'm like, okay.
35:55Takes the magnet out of the speaker, takes the end of a broomstick, tapes the magnet.
35:59And he starts, like, digging in this murky water with this stick magnet contract.
36:03And he gets the freaking car keys.
36:05I was like, what?
36:07Like, oh, my God, if I don't marry this guy, I'm an idiot, huh?
36:13Where are we on it?
36:17I feel I'm burning rubber.
36:18Yeah, you're burning rubber.
36:18I think you gotta pull it off.
36:20Okay, guys, I think we should get everybody out of the truck.
36:23So, get out this side.
36:24Oh, you can't go out that side.
36:25Now, this side you're gonna get out.
36:25Too much weight.
36:26You're gonna fall out.
36:31All right, Frankie, you go down that way.
36:36Joe, how are you gonna pull?
36:38I don't know, let me get a look at it.
36:39We'll have traction on this side a little bit.
36:41Things didn't go exactly according to plan.
36:43We slipped off the side, and we're kind of sitting belly down.
36:47None of the tires are making contact.
36:48We're gonna have to use the winch from another truck to pull this thing down.
36:52Pull it in that direction, see if she can just get stable.
36:55Once this tire gets on top of this car, we're home free.
36:58I don't want this thing to roll over.
37:00I know we put a roll cage on it.
37:01I don't want to test it today.
37:02And I'm in front of the buyer.
37:03This could totally turn him off, especially if I rolled this car over.
37:07I probably should have just not did this.
37:09All right, you got tension.
37:15Your wheel's on, Joe.
37:18Yes, Joe.
37:19Gus, I think if you give me a little more pressure, we'll be okay.
37:26Oh, she's moving.
37:27Tire's about to go on, Joe.
37:30Let's go.
37:32Let's go.
37:34Let's go.
37:35Let's go.
37:36Oh, victory's so sweet.
37:41Team Apocalypse.
37:43Today's test drive went well.
37:47And it's highs and lows.
37:48Good job, everybody.
37:49Woo!
37:50We make gigantic toys.
37:52Half the job is to play with them, right?
37:54I mean, if you can't go and climb over some cars with your gigantic truck, why do you drive
37:59a gigantic truck?
38:01Chris, you came down intact.
38:02So, do you still want it?
38:06I totally want it.
38:07Are you kidding?
38:07You did everything I asked you.
38:09Everything.
38:09I'm going to ask you a question.
38:10This little exercise here.
38:11Did it make you want it more or less?
38:13Definitely more.
38:16That's awesome.
38:17That's awesome.
38:18Let's jump in.
38:19Let's get out of here.
38:19Let's get at her.
38:20Right on.
38:20This could be something where you call us up and you want the monster electric truck,
38:25the Zeus maybe, right?
38:26And we just build it.
38:28Series of parts and pull off the shelf and we go to town.
38:31To the vineyard, I guess.
38:32All right.
38:32Ashley.
38:46Joseph.
38:48Stuff that needs to hit the road this week.
38:50Right now, this week, I have Hagel leaving.
38:52Jerry's six-by-six guy.
38:53Lennon is leaving.
38:54Got a couple of Broncos that are done and ready to go.
38:57These are sold at the boat show.
38:59How did we end up with the boat show?
39:01I don't know the final number yet, but I told them 25.
39:05Reaching for the stars.
39:06I like it.
39:07The weather was bad.
39:08I'm pretty confident that even as bad as the weather was, that we hit that.
39:12Jerry!
39:13Yeah?
39:14Come over.
39:15Where did we end up with the boat show?
39:16Like, total deals, done, done.
39:18We were supposed to get 25.
39:20We got 22.
39:2122 hammered and done deals?
39:23Yeah.
39:24You look deflated.
39:24What's up?
39:25Because it's 25.
39:26We had a goal in mind and...
39:28In one weekend?
39:2922 vehicles?
39:30I'm upset.
39:31Dad only sold eight.
39:3212.
39:3312?
39:3412.
39:35Boat show slayer.
39:36Wow.
39:37Listen, honestly, I just looked at the numbers last year and I figured that number made sense.
39:41You just threw out some arbitrary number?
39:43I knew you would hit it.
39:44You specifically told me that to keep the lights on, Ash.
39:47We do need to keep the lights on, Jerry.
39:49And you basically hit that number, so you should be very proud of yourself.
39:52I don't know why you're so angry.
39:52The pressure that you put on me for these events.
39:55So, Jerry, now, like, 22 cars plus a few solar panels, lights are on.
39:59I guarantee you by next week you hit that 25.
40:03You didn't just get 22 names of all numbers, right?
40:05People that saw you, spoke to you, or not.
40:07How many times have you heard a guy walks in a year later and says,
40:09I saw you guys in the boat show, and they make a deal.
40:11Jerry, we did 22.
40:14I told you right from the get-go, all those trucks in the front were over $100,000.
40:18Not everybody's in the market for $100,000 out of their pocket.
40:20Are we still talking about this?
40:22Yes.
40:22Is this for real?
40:23Because we might have got another 510 out of it.
40:25You just said we did a great job.
40:27We did a great job.
40:28I'm just throwing some salt on those.
40:29He's got a point?
40:30All right, next year, he's the chief marketing officer of this company, okay?
40:34You're the one who gets it, okay?
40:35Boat show slayer.
40:37Jerry, since I'm the chief marketing officer here, we're going to make some changes in
40:44your office.
40:44Dad, stop.
40:51Oh, God, I love this truck, bro.
40:57Kim Smith got a wild idea for a truck.
40:59How many seats do you need?
41:0111 or 12.
41:02We're building a bus.
41:05Boom.
41:05Our new sales system, it's working, but my dad's starting this rebellion.
41:10We have to revolt.
41:11We're wrong, guys?
41:12No.
41:13I mean, really?
41:13No.
41:14How does it look if you and dad are causing all of this ruckus?
41:16It doesn't look good.
41:18This is Florida.
41:18We can do anything.
41:19I'm ready to see this.
41:21All right, here she comes.
41:23I'll be damned.
41:25We can do anything.
41:29Now what's the best event?
41:31We can do anything else.
41:31Why do we have to do anything else?
41:33I'll be damned.
41:35I'll be damned.
41:36I'll be damned.
41:37I'll be damned.
