Today I spoke with the intimacy coordinator and director, Nicole Perry.
Nicole and I discussed how #ConsentMatters and #BoundarySetting in #ProfessionalSpaces after the chaos and completely inappropriate conduct displayed at #sinnersandstardust this August.
Prepare to join Nicole and me as we share a candid discussion surrounding #safety #agency and how any sort of harassment or abuse is never to be tolerated in any entertainment spectrum - either from performers, or their audiences.

00:00So we do have to remember that performers are autonomous human beings, which sounds like so silly to say out loud. Why would they not meet? But performers are autonomous human beings that have needs and boundaries as well that should be respected at all times.
00:16Hopefully if we enjoy the things that they're bringing to us, because that's, you know, they work and they are going to work, like you said, to start with. And this is even though it's an event space for you and it's a time off, a good time for you. This is what they do every day in order to bring you those entertaining moments. So it should go without saying that you should respect their bodily autonomy, you would think.
00:39Everyone deserves a safe workplace. Like you would not want someone to come to your workplace and grab you, follow you. Like everyone deserves a safe workplace. And just because someone's workplace is more public than someone else's doesn't negate the normal human need for safety and privacy.
