00:10news this is regarding the case that's going on related to the delhi riots of 2020 the accused
00:16had put in an application for bail in the delhi high court but they have suffered a huge setback
00:23the high court has denied bail to all the 10 accused in this matter absolutely no relief
00:30has been granted to sharjee imam umar khalid and seven others were accused of engineering these
00:38rights prosecution had alleged that sharjee imam and umar khalid were accused of being part of a
00:45larger conspiracy that read to the led to the communal violence in the northeastern delhi and
00:52the violence left over 50 people dead and hundreds of people injured joining us now is india today's
01:00shristi oja shristi on what basis did the high court say that they are denying their bail plea
01:07uh well a total of 10 accused in the delhi riots larger conspiracy case have been denied bail by
01:14two different benches of delhi high court today we're talking about accused including uh sharjee
01:19imam umar khalid gulfisha fatima and others all of whom were arrested back in 2020 after the riots
01:25and were booked under stringent uapa provisions and have remained behind bars ever since now this
01:31particular delhi riots case we've seen has time and again been questioned both before courts and even
01:37on social media with regard to the pace of the trial there have been allegations that the trial has
01:41not proceeded on a fast pace and people have been behind bars per years however the delhi police in
01:47this case has constantly maintained that the so-called delay in the uh in the uh in the trial in this
01:54particular case is because of the accused has been on part of the accusation not the delhi police uh the
02:00high court has dismissed the bail uh police today however a detailed order order copy is yet to come
02:06which is when we know what are the specific observations and the reasons that have been given
02:09by the court while denying bail but remember the delhi police had while opposing the bail please very
02:15clearly stated that uh the protest sites in uh this case was planned under a larger planned conspiracy
02:21and it was even it was just given a facade of an organic protest it wasn't an organic protest but was
02:28uh a huge conspiracy uh was planned by all the accused in this case a hype was created in relation to the
02:37uh shahing baag protest the protest was referred to as a dadi nani protest when it was actually an
02:43inorganized in uh inorganic and artificial uh protest we'd also seen the prosecution tell the high court
02:50that this is not uh uh any uh this is not a case which should be seen a a mere riots case but it is a case
02:57where a case where the accused had attempted to attack the very integrity and unity uh law and
03:05order of the country and just prolonged incarceration cannot be a ground of release for
03:10grant of bail in this case uh now 10 accused have been denied bail in this case uh today will
03:15definitely have the option of challenging this order and moving the supreme court because according
03:19to them they have uh said that they've spent over four years in custody and the trial slow pace
03:25according to them makes their incarceration unjustifiable they've also said that they should
03:31be released on grounds of parity because there are three to four accused in this case who have
03:35already been granted bail in 2021 so what exactly are the observations that have been given by uh
03:40the high court is something that we know once the order copy comes out back right thank you

03:49been accused of a larger conspiracy now and that's the reason why uh the prosecution has said that
03:55they should not be let out just because they've been in the prison for a very long time
