00:00Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has been named the new head of the Department of Public Works and Highways, replacing Manuel Bonoan, who stepped down due to issues with flood control projects.
00:11Malacanang said on Sunday, August 31, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. accepted the resignation of Bonoan, who, quote,
00:17expressed support for the president's call for accountability, transparency, and reform within the DPWH.
00:23Dizon is tasked to conduct a full organizational sweep of the department and ensure that public funds are used solely for infrastructure that truly protects and benefits the Filipino people.
00:32The OTR Undersecretary Giovanni Lopez will temporarily lead the Transportation Department.
00:38Marcos explains the change in the department leadership a day later.
00:41And why Vince Dizon? Because, well, he seems he's done a very good job at the OTR,
00:47and I think he's already set the stage for all of the things that we need to do.
00:55So, pwede na niyang iwanan and go to public work, because he's also familiar with the workings of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
01:04Meantime, Dizon says in a press briefing that he is ordering the courtesy resignation of officials in the Department of Public Works and Highways,
01:11from undersecretaries to district engineers.
01:13He adds he will also impose a lifetime blacklisting on contractors who worked on ghost or substandard projects.
