In this tutorial, we’ll explore the essentials of Adjusting Video Resolution and Scaling in HandBrake

In this tutorial series, we will cover the major features of HandBrake, including how to load source files, choose output formats, adjust quality settings, use presets, add subtitles, and export optimised videos for web, mobile, or archive purposes.

This lesson is created using HandBrake on Windows, but the same tools and techniques apply to the macOS and Linux versions as well.

00:00so what you can also do in handbrake is go ahead and change the resolution and scaling as you want
00:15manually as well so to do that i'm going to go around and choose file and select out a source
00:21file of my choice let's say for example uh this one right here and press open so you can see that
00:26the video loaded and over here this video has a certain resolution and you can see uh all the
00:32details like the size in is 1920 by 1080 as you can see right here but if i want to have a specific
00:39resolution i can go around over here onto dimension section right here and here you can see that
00:44resolution and scaling is an option so the resolution limit is 1080p but i can go ahead and then buff it
00:52up as well so you can see that this is what you have you can also go around and choose optimal
00:57size so that disables this particular uh area where you can enter your own resolution or you can go
01:03ahead and disable that so that you can go ahead and let's say for example change out to your own
01:09resolution so i can say something like 720 by 980 as well just like this as well you can see that the
01:16pixel aspect gets stressed out just like that as well you can allow upscaling as well so that
01:22it also goes ahead and turns lower resolution videos to upper resolution so you can choose the
01:28resolution limit right here and you can even choose custom and choose the maximum size that it can go
01:33through right here just like this and choose the resolution as you want and once you do that everything
01:38in the preset turns into modified because we actually changed the resolution and scaling right here just
01:45like this so now i can simply go ahead and then browse onto the location where i want to save
01:51and then let's say for example simply start encoding and what happens is that the video starts getting
01:57encoded right there just like that so you need to wait for a while and it gets exported just like that
02:05and now around over here since i chose my own resolution right here the scale size you can see
02:10that this is what i have it uh fit the video in that particular size so if i were to actually go ahead
02:17and then open this out then this is what you have right here so you can see that this is the video
02:22size right here just like this and you can see that it took uh this side so if i were to actually go
02:28around over here onto uh the properties right here just like this so if i were to go around onto properties
02:34right here then on the detail you can see that this is the width and this is the height right here of
02:39the video and that is how you can go ahead and adjust the video resolution and scaling as you need
02:46inside of handbrake so i hope you guys learned something as always and as always please like
