You won't believe how different she looks now ❤️ We talked to Kim about making Savvy her very own enclosure, and how sweet it is to watch her personality come out more and more!

00:01They were the biggest raccoons I've ever seen.

00:03Oh my gosh.

00:09Savvy weighed over 32 pounds.

00:11That's about double what she should have weighed under normal circumstances.

00:15Okay, so this guy is just a little bit too chunky to climb up on the house by himself.

00:19Oh my gosh, wow, that's heavy.

00:21Okay, get up there.

00:24It was a little heartbreaking to see that they couldn't perform normal raccoon movements.

00:29Climbing something only two feet off the ground was a struggle for them.

00:32Back then, I took Savvy and her brother Mo into my sanctuary.

00:35Look at you, cutie pie.

00:37Before they were surrendered to the state, someone had kept them as illegal pets for over four years.

00:41And by the time they arrived to my sanctuary, they were no longer candidates for release back into the wild.

00:46Their new life here meant that I had to reinforce a more balanced diet and better exercise.

00:50Here, I made you this so that you can have fun with your food.

00:53Once we started to see improvement, we built them their very own custom enclosure.

00:59Sadly, we lost Mo not long after due to complications from his obesity.

01:05Savvy had to continue on her weight loss journey alone.

01:13Back to present day, and it's time to see just how far she's come.

01:17Let's weigh the Chunky Raccoon.

01:19It's been a while since we've done this.

01:21We're about to be shocked.

01:42Definitely 17.2 pounds.

01:46Don't believe how much healthier she is.

01:48Oh my gosh, she was over 30 pounds before.

01:51Can you believe that?

01:52We have come so far so much healthier.

01:56Nearly half the weight she was when she came to my sanctuary.

01:59The bond that we've made over the last couple of years makes moments like this almost weaker.

02:03She is so much healthier and it fills my heart to see her true personality coming out now that she's physically more comfortable.

02:10And even though she's thriving on her own, I'm still keeping my eyes and ears open in the rescue community for a potential new friend for Savvy.
