Dozens of vehicles powered entirely by the sun have completed the 3,000-kilometre journey through the centre of Australia from Darwin to Adelaide. Team Brunel from the Netherlands was crowned champion of the World Solar Challenge, kicking off celebrations at Tarntanyangga Victoria Square in Adelaide.

00:00After nearly a week on the road, the journey is finally complete.
00:06Brunel, the first to cross the finish line.
00:11The sweet taste of victory after holding off fellow Dutch competitor Twente,
00:15who were hot on their heels the whole way.
00:173,000 kilometres and only minutes apart from our competitors.
00:21Very, very strong competitors this year. Just insane.
00:26The victory arriving nearly six years after Brunel,
00:29previously known as Vattenfall, were forced out of the race
00:33when their vehicle burst into flames on the Stuart Highway.
00:36To rise back from the ashes, come back stronger every time.
00:39And yeah, we drove a record time today in Adelaide, so I'm really glad.

00:47each team taking a different approach to tackle the gruelling 3,000-kilometre journey,
