00:00Teams competing in the World Solar Challenge awoke at the crack of dawn this morning, ready to catch every second of sunlight before taking off at 8am local time.
00:10After leaving Darwin yesterday morning, many teams finished the day in and around the Daly Waters region, some 600 kilometres down the road.
00:17Not all competitors were so lucky, however, with some breaking down throughout the day and some forced to pull out entirely.
00:24Meanwhile, different designs and technologies have given each team varying benefits and deficiencies, with different teams prioritising acceleration, solar capacity and aerodynamics, making for an array of unique designs.
00:38I think I'm most proud of that we are having a droplet design and we are the only team having it, so our car is very unique to other cars, which is great.
00:46After a night spent camping by the roadside, teams are off and running again.
00:50At 11am local time, Dutch team Brunel was leading the pack, just ahead of reigning champions Enoptus from Belgium.
