00:00:00Well this is the greatest time of year for all football fans. Hope runs eternal for every team
00:00:04and especially this team. This Bucs team has some high aspirations but what I've taken away from the
00:00:09first two preseason games is first of all two victories. Finding a way to win tough games.
00:00:13I've been really impressed Chris with some of the rookies. Emeka Abuka and Jacob Parrish are probably
00:00:17going to play big roles early in this in this season. What really though stood out is the
00:00:22defense. Six takeaways. Three turnovers in each of the first two games. I think that needs to
00:00:27continue and push into the regular season and lastly Josh Grisard. He's taken over an offense
00:00:33with a lot of talent and I've been impressed in the first two weeks with how he's handled it. He's got
00:00:37one more opportunity tonight to shore it up. Yeah the first year offensive coordinator. The backup
00:00:42quarterback situation behind Baker Mayfield is up in the air. Teddy Bridgewater added he won't play
00:00:47tonight. Kyle Trask. This may be his most important preseason start to try and secure the job. Well
00:00:52good thing for Kyle is he's had some good preseasons over the past couple years. We've called him. We've
00:00:57seen it. He needs to come out tonight and show some command of this offense. Some poise under some
00:01:02pressure because yes there is definitely a controversy right now with Teddy Bridgewater
00:01:06coming into the building last week and playing well against Pittsburgh. He's got his chance to
00:01:10showcase himself tonight. Yeah it's the pursuit of an NFL dream and it continues for a number of
00:01:15players not only in this game but all the way around the National Football League. This is your
00:01:22moment your opportunity time to seize the moment. The Bills and the Bucs regulars in the playoffs.
00:01:28The last five six seven years will kick it off in the final preseason game.

00:02:08Yeah Chris tonight is the last chance players have to prove themselves and impress these coaches. The roster is going to go from 90 to 53 next Tuesday. Although Chris Godwin Jr., Jalen McMillan and Tristan Wirfs will begin the season with an injury.
00:02:24They will be on the active roster which means competition is that much tighter. We'll talk about wide receiver Ryan Miller. He's got a pretty good chance of making the roster. He had six catches for 66 yards against the Titans. Two catches for 11 yards against the Steelers. We'll see quite a bit of him tonight. The Bucs will probably have six or seven receivers on their roster.

00:02:45All right. Thanks so much. Buffalo comes in 0-2. The Bucs try to win their third straight and close out the preseason in victory. A last-minute field goal up in Pittsburgh. Got to win number two. They won the toss. Won the football.
00:03:00Josh Williams and Cam Johnson back to receive as Tyler Bass who's been the regular kicker for the Bucs will kick it off. This Bucs team trying to extend a current streak of five straight AFC East titles. Six straight playoff appearances and six straight ten seasons or six seasons with ten wins as the Bucs are trying to continue their streak and win a fifth NFC South Division title.
00:03:28It's Josh Williams and the free agent from LSU stops short of the 30-yard line. Kyle Trask will lead the offense. Again, Teddy Bridgewater battling a little bit of a cold. Will not play tonight. He was supposed to get some game time. And Baker Mayfield will sit this one out. Has not played in the preseason for the first time at all for the first time in his career.
00:03:51All right. Let's talk a little bit about Kyle Trask here, Chris. Now, the one thing he has going for him in this competition that has kind of emerged here over the last
00:03:57week, really. He's been in this offense. He knows it like the back of his hand. He's got a much bigger advantage in terms of size and arm strength over Teddy Bridgewater. But as we mentioned in the open, he needs to have a good game tonight and prove that he could be the number two quarterback here in Tampa.
00:04:13And a flag down at the 37-yard line. Sean Smith, our referee tonight.

00:04:49Eileen mentioned the receiver battle, Chris,

00:04:58Obviously, you mentioned Ryan Miller, Cameron Johnson,
00:05:01who's been out basically the entire preseason with an injury.
00:05:05And Trey Palmer, who we know was a draft pick a couple of years ago,
00:05:08who's in the game now, is getting his first action of the preseason as well.

00:05:14one of the five rookies that they drafted consecutively on defense
00:05:18to start their draft.

00:05:41Not only are you auditioning for Tampa tonight,
00:05:43you're auditioning for the other 31 teams around the league.
00:05:47Trask fires and can put it on your hands at the 39-yard line
00:05:52as Ryan Miller, who has been outstanding in the preseason.
00:05:58And can play special teams as well, battling for a receiver spot.

00:06:02The one thing about Ryan Miller,
00:06:03he's probably not as athletic as some of these guys
00:06:05that we're going to talk about tonight at this position.
00:06:07But one thing he is, is a core four-team special teams player.
00:06:12And he's got great hands.
00:06:13I mean, he leads his team in receptions in the preseason.
00:06:15He's been very, very good.
00:06:17And I know that they can rely on him.
00:06:19Former tight end, second-year player from Furman.
00:06:22That's a playing time last year on the practice squad.
00:06:25And as Trask has set the throw again, sets it up to Sean Tucker.
00:06:29Two Buffalo Bills to get passed, and he's brought down at midfield.
00:06:34Let's take a look at the weather-tight window players to watch
00:06:37for windows and doors done right.
00:06:39Call weather-tight windows for weather-tight, Mike.
00:06:41No surprise here, Kyle Trask is one of our players to watch.
00:06:44He's only got 11 career passes in the regular season, Chris,
00:06:46but he's had some good preseasons.
00:06:48He'll need another one today.
00:06:49Tez Johnson, we're going to talk a lot about this kid
00:06:51because he's so exciting.
00:06:53He's got great ability.
00:06:54And with the down injuries at receiver, you're going to expect him.
00:06:57And Josh Williams, this last guy, we saw him last week for the first time,
00:07:01and this team loves him.
00:07:03I know they're going to try to keep three, maybe four running backs
00:07:06because of the way he's played.
00:07:08Sean Tucker is tackled right away as he got to midfield.
00:07:12Tucker, one of those three agents from the past that has made this team.
00:07:16And we'll talk with general manager Jason Light in the second half.
00:07:19A tradition we started decades ago where a GM comes to the booth,
00:07:22and now you see it all over the place.
00:07:24But he's not only through the draft built this team with Todd Bowles
00:07:28through free agents over the last couple of seasons.
00:07:30Well, it's fantastic to see guys play significant roles that aren't drafted.
00:07:34I mean, there's a lot of ways to get to the NFL,
00:07:36and we'll talk about this game being the last game for a lot of players here.
00:07:40But finding gems, you know, when you get to go sign them out of college,
00:07:44it's been a huge part of how this Bucs team has shaped their roster over the years.
00:07:49Third down test here for Trask in the offense.

00:07:55Throws incomplete in the area of Ryan Miller,
00:07:58and the coverage was pretty good.

00:08:12Not their strongest point, as great as their offense has been.

00:08:19as they get ready for Atlanta in the regular season.

00:08:23And you were interested in the note that the Bills made a deal back when they
00:08:27drafted him to move up in the draft with the Bucs from 12 to 7.
00:08:32Vita Veyes, who the Bucs picked, and they went with Josh Allen,
00:08:36and it's been history ever since for him and the Bills.
00:08:39Ball bounces and into the end zone.
00:08:43Riley Dixon's had a good preseason,
00:08:45but wants to be better about dropping that inside the 10.

00:09:02the former Major League Baseball player,
00:09:04gets the start at quarterback behind what would be Josh Allen,

00:10:19who is a really good, versatile player.
00:10:21Kayvon Mcmeriweather, Rashad Wisdom,
00:10:24and Shiloh Sanders are all battling
00:10:26for that final spot at that safety position.

00:12:32I talked about Rashawn Wisdom, number 38.
00:12:35He's a safety bike tree, but last week, Coach was really impressed with him.
00:12:40He's right here in the creek.
00:12:41He coached him up on how to play nickel at halftime, and he went in and played the rest of the game
00:12:46at that position.
00:12:47He's actually getting a start there.
00:12:48The defense up front.
00:12:50Rocks had to sign Trey Avery off the Tennessee Titans team in that secondary.
00:12:55He's mostly a corner.
00:12:56Wisdom just making the tackle there moments ago.
00:13:00We've talked a lot this preseason about that nickel position because Jacob Parrish,
00:13:05the rookie out of Kansas State, has been really impressive.
00:13:07But besides Christian Isian, who's not playing tonight,
00:13:11they don't really have another nickel to put in there.
00:13:13Obviously, Tyke Smith did it last year, but he's in primary safety this year.
00:13:17So I'm going to keep an eye on that position as well.

00:15:37Everything he's done in the preseason has done really, really well.
00:15:40It's the first real bad play that he's going to make.

00:15:49Yeah, Nick Jackson, the free agent linebacker from Iowa,
00:15:52you think, has made his team.
00:15:54He's led the team in tackles in different games.

00:15:59He's also had a sack, part of the defense that has been impressive
00:16:02when some of the backups have been in there.
00:16:04He's shown himself to be able to make some splash plays,
00:16:07be in the right place at the right time.
00:16:08And, you know, you hate to see guys miss tackles,
00:16:10but the dude does play really fast, Chris,
00:16:13and I think that's what he's impressing at the top of most of the offense.
00:16:20Jackson has got another Buffalo first down.
00:16:24And, again, two Buccaneers on the turf,
00:16:27sliding in to come make tackles.
00:16:29Look, when you're trying to play fast and the turf is wet,
00:16:31you really have to find a way to gather yourself.
00:16:33You cannot, you cannot overextend your steps.
00:16:36You've got to gather, find a way to put a chest on somebody
00:16:40and come up with a body part.
00:16:41And that's two plays in a row that we've served.
00:16:43Two out of three plays where we've seen Bucs not be able to get
00:16:45these Bills runners on the ground.

00:16:51They took it off about an hour or two before kickoff,

00:17:23It's amazing that you have that many tackles coming out of Iowa
00:17:27that you're not on a lot of people's radar.
00:17:28But I think the Bucs still have left you to have him on the roster right now.
00:17:31He's in for the touchdown.

00:20:59Like, he's got so much quickness and separation ability that you get the ball in his hands.

00:21:06If you watch his Oregon film, all you see is a guy that has reliable hands,
00:21:10does not mind catching the ball in space,
00:21:13and does a lot of good things with it after he has Sean Tucker hit hard
00:21:16after a 39-yard kickoff return by Josh Williams.

00:21:22Yeah, guys, the Knicks family adopted Tez Johnson his sophomore year of high school.
00:21:26This is pretty cool.
00:21:27The moment I asked him about Bo Knicks, he was laughing, smiling from ear to ear.
00:21:30Bo actually transferred to Tez's high school.
00:21:33Johnson said Bo came out to practice one day to throw,
00:21:35and as soon as he did, there was an immediate connection between the two.
00:21:39Johnson told me he walked into Bo's house one day and never left.
00:21:43Tez looks up to Bo and says that he's his big brother.
00:21:46Pretty protective of him.
00:21:47They called each other earlier this week.
00:21:49Get this, even Bucky Irving hops in on those phone calls sometimes, guys.
00:21:52Thank you, Eileen, as Ryan Miller on a pass,
00:21:56and almost took loose as he crossed mid-few, brought down at the 48 of Buffalo.
00:22:03So the seventh rounder from Oregon,
00:22:05they led the Bucs with four catches in the game against the Steelers last week
00:22:09in his preseason debut, but he did fumble that punt,
00:22:11but he also had a dazzling return as well.
00:22:14Five-year college career.
00:22:15He had over 300 catches and 28 touchdowns.
00:22:17Oh, he's climbing up that learning curve, right?
00:22:19There's some things you're not going to learn that you think you can do
00:22:23in the NFL that you cannot do.
00:22:25He got away with doing those types of things.
00:22:27That's the buff punt that he had last week in Pittsburgh in college and high school.
00:22:31But now on this level, it's a totally different story.
00:22:33He'll learn.
00:22:34He'll learn from those mistakes.
00:22:35Trask will complete.
00:22:37That's a nice move, and that's what Taze Johnson can do.
00:22:40So he doesn't mind being outside or outweighed.
00:22:44I think he likes it.
00:22:47He leads into it.
00:22:48When I was having that conversation with him at one-buck plays,
00:22:51he looked at me when I asked that question,
00:22:53and the smile on his face was beaming.
00:22:56He couldn't wait to get out and play in a real game,
00:22:59and I think we're going to see a lot of him tonight
00:23:01because with the injuries at wide receiver,
00:23:04we need a fifth or sixth receiver.
00:23:05Obviously, he's got a role as a punt return on this football team.
00:23:08I think that's locked up for him.
00:23:10But if you need some depth at the other positions,
00:23:12he's going to be the one to provide.

00:23:15Trask can't find anybody, and he holds it and goes back.

00:23:38And really, the offensive line has been pretty good.

00:23:49and I know we're going to talk about them some today as well.
00:23:52They're really trying to secure that eighth, ninth position on the offensive line.

00:24:31because of what he's shown so far in the preseason transfer.
