While responding to a crash on a busy Chicago freeway, a trooper was nearly hit when two separate vehicles slammed into the already-wrecked car—first from the left, then from the right. The trooper managed to dodge both impacts in a split-second move that likely saved his life.

00:00The Illinois State Police. Earlier this year, the state passed what's called Scott's Law,
00:05which is effectively their move-over law. It requires drivers to change lanes if possible,
00:09or at least slow down if they're near a stopped emergency vehicle.
00:13Now for the video. This traffic stop happened a year ago this July, but state police are putting
00:18it out now, hoping to raise awareness about the issue and the new law. Trooper responding to a
00:24crash on I-94 in Chicago. As he checks on the driver and starts helping her out of the vehicle,

00:49vehicle, following too closely an improper lane usage. That guy was not injured. By the way,
00:54the law went into effect on January 1st, but it appears some drivers in Illinois
00:59may be unaware of the new law.
