00:00We have waited all night for it. Now, this one comes to us from the Newton County Sheriff's
00:04Office in Missouri, where they just released this footage from an incident that happened
00:08several weeks ago. Now, just a warning, the footage is pretty intense.
00:15It's a little before 9 a.m. in Joplin, Missouri, and a Newton County deputy is on patrol.
00:21When up ahead, in the opposite lane, he notices traffic beginning to back up.
00:25Seems like a driver is having some sort of engine trouble.
00:33The car begins to move along, but barely. As the vehicle gets closer, the driver appears
00:39to be slumped over the wheel. The deputy quickly makes a U-turn.
00:43I've got an elderly guy, slow rolling. I think it's a radical emergency. Start firing EMS.
00:49Let's see if I can get him stopped.
00:50With the driver unconscious and the car still creeping ahead,
00:55the deputy makes his move.
01:03Sir, sir, sir, sir.
01:07Break, break, break, break, break.
01:09He's saying break in case the driver comes to and thinks he's being carjacked.
01:14Put it in park.
01:14He puts the car in park. And now to deal with the driver.
01:17It appears the man may be having a heart attack.
01:23Hey, hey, hey, hey.
01:25Hey, hey.
01:27Hey.
01:28Come on out. Come on out.
01:32He immediately begins administering CPR.
01:34Come on. Come on. Hey, hey.
01:37A second officer is now on the scene.
01:39He's got a pulse.
01:41You do?
01:42He's got one.
01:43Yep, he's got one.
01:44Okay.
01:44He's still conscious.
01:45Sixteen Central.
01:46The driver's breathing on his own and appears to be conscious.
01:50Looks like the male just passed out behind the wheel. He's conscious, barely breathing.
01:54CPR.
01:54He's got a...
01:55In progress, but looks like he's got a pulse.
01:59I've got JPD with me.
02:00The other units can downgrade. We're just waiting for medics.
02:03While they wait for an ambulance to arrive, the officers continue CPR.
02:06Oh, there we go. Come on.
02:09Come on.
02:09Come on. Breathe for me, buddy.
02:12Paramedics are now on the scene and quickly take over.
02:18Right on.
02:19Good job, man.
02:20Right place, right time, I guess. You know, the Lord puts us here for a reason.
02:23Right.
02:26Now, I'm happy to report that the driver, who is a farmer from Barton County, Missouri,
02:30by the name of Arnold Spencer, has made a full recovery from the heart attack.
02:34Now, Mr. Spencer and Sergeant Nick Boo actually got together recently,
02:39and Spencer now refers to him as his guardian angel.
02:42Awesome. What a great story.
02:44Good stuff.
02:44That is a great final triple play to do.
02:48Yes.
02:49That's awesome.
