00:00Up next, the ultimate test of courage.
00:07Nickelodeon Guts.
00:12Guts!
00:12Can David, Eagle Archer, soar above the competition?
00:15Is Rob the Rock Rowell a stone's throw from the perfect game?
00:18Or will Craig Littleman Rankin stand up to them both and walk away with the gold?
00:24Do you have it?
00:25I'm Mike O'Malley. Welcome to the Extreme Arena.
00:28This is Nickelodeon Guts, the big help, special edition.
00:32Do you have it?
00:58All right, folks, we are bringing the outside inside on our next event, Vertibog, and that's right.
01:04We have a 22-foot indoor ski slope.
01:08Our players are going to be sliding on down.
01:11We got some serious icy conditions on this Guts on Snow event.
01:15Let's go to our referee, Moira Quirk, for the rules.
01:17Hey, Mo, you are way sky high up there.
01:20Yes, look at all this mountain mist that's happening.
01:22It's very hazy.
01:24Each of our players will race their Vertibog and down the course, and the fastest time wins.
01:29On your mark, get set.
01:31Okay, so David will be first, and you can see a great push-off at the beginning there.
01:36You can just see how high they are up there, 22-foot high as he goes over Mogul Mania.
01:42Here's the face plant slant, but he makes it right through there.
01:45And nice time, and we'll go to Mo and get the official time for David.
01:49David clocked in at 9.9 seconds.
01:52All right, 9.9 seconds for David.
01:54Now the time's a beat, and it looks like our second player, Rob, is ready.
01:57On your mark, get set.
01:59All right, Rob's nickname is The Rock, and he rockets out of the start right there.
02:03Great push and continues to push himself around the nerve curve.
02:06Holding on through Mogul Mania.
02:08He's coming down for the face plant slant and doing good work right there.
02:12That time is official.
02:13He will be our new leader.
02:14Let's go to Mo.
02:15Mo.
02:15Rob clocked in at 9 seconds even.
02:18Okay, so Rob continuing to push off.
02:20Great balance and working those corners.
02:22We'll see what Craig can do.
02:23On your mark, get set.
02:25Craig the little man.
02:27Let's see if the little man can get a big performance out of his board right here.
02:30And continuing to push off really tight on the corners.
02:34He may have victory if he can hustle across.
02:36And indeed, if that time is official, our purple player, Craig, rising to the challenge right there.
02:42Let's go to Mo.
02:43Craig clocked in at 8.7 seconds.
02:45That puts Craig in first place, Rob in second place, David in third place.
02:51All right, folks.
02:52If this event right here is any indication of how close it's going to be, it's going to be a great competition today.
02:58You see him pushing off, cornering.
03:00Great work and continuing to keep his balance.
03:03Taking first place points right there.
03:05And let's go to Mo and check out our leaderboard.
03:06Mo.
03:06Well, Mike, first place in our events is worth 300 points.
03:09That goes to Craig in purple.
03:12In second place with 200 points, Rob in red.
03:15In third place with 100 points, David in blue.
03:19Well, after our first event, I got a good feeling about these three guys.
03:22It's going to be a good competition.
03:23We got plenty of events coming up.
03:25Let's go to Mo and check out our event lineup.
03:26Mo.
03:27Well, first up today, we brought the Winter Olympics to the Extreme Arena with Vertiboggen.
03:31And next, we have the flying football event touchdown.
03:34In our second half, we have the base path obstacle course, Extreme Baseball.
03:39And then it's time for the roller hockey race, Slapshot.
03:42And as always, the mega crag is last.
03:45Mike.
03:45That's right.
03:46We are far from finished right here.
03:48And the player with the most points at the end of all of our events goes home the winner and takes home a glowing piece of our awesome rock.
03:54But right now, it's time for David to spill his guts.
03:58Hi, my name is David Archer.
04:00I'm living in Japan, Germany, the Philippines.
04:01I'm a first to read basketball in Taekwondo.
04:03And I'm also enjoying land skating and soccer.
04:08And today, David is dedicating his efforts to the National 4-H Council, which encourages diversity and youth leadership.
04:16All right.
04:16Imagine the entire defensive line of the Dallas Cowboys charging after you.
04:20Can you see over them for the touchdown?
04:22Well, with a little bungee on your back, you're going to get guts, elastic sports, a little action right here.
04:27Let's go to Mo for the rules.
04:28Mo.
04:29At the sound of my whistle, all three players will have 45 seconds to throw as many touchdowns as possible.
04:34The player who throws the most wins.
04:37All right.
04:37So our players, you see they're getting ready and getting a little bounce in their step right there before we start this event.
04:43And going into this event, Craig is in the lead with 300 points.
04:46Look like they have their rhythm down.
04:47On your mark, get set.
04:50All right, folks.
04:51So there, they begin to reach back.
04:54And then the throw.
04:55And purple scoring one.
04:56There's red scoring one.
04:57And blue scoring one.
04:59Purple with another.
05:00You can see how close this game is going to be all day long as blue scores another.
05:04Purple looks like having three.
05:05Red with another.
05:07So this game takes a lot of endurance, good aim, and timing.
05:11You've got to get on to the football.
05:13And then you've got to have a good throw to make the completion and convert for a touchdown right there.
05:17As you see, blue struggling.
05:19Blue has got to reach back for another football.
05:21Purple walks the little bounce, but has great aim.
05:24And right now, purple looks to be in the lead.
05:26As you see, red going up for another one.
05:29Great aim on that one.
05:30Red also filling the goal with plenty of touchdowns.
05:33Another for red.
05:34Blue looks to have about two right now.
05:37Looks like another score with that one right there.
05:40And so at the buzzer, purple might have scored another one.
05:43I wasn't able to get a look at the goal.
05:45We will go right now to Mo and find out the results.
05:48Mo.
05:49Craig and Rob tied in first place with eight goals each.
05:52And in third place is David with five.
05:55Touchdowns, Mike.
05:57Touchdowns.
05:58Hey, look at the replay.
05:59Going up.
06:01Sky high was Rob.
06:02The rock.
06:03And rocketing of football right in for a decent score.
06:07This man right here definitely had his momentum down and tied for first place.
06:11Talk to me about that last event.
06:13What was the hardest part about it?
06:14Just getting your rhythm down and jumping and just get the balls in the net.
06:17That's all you have to do.
06:18All right.
06:18300 points for this man.
06:20Sharing with Craig.
06:21Let's go to Mo and check out our leaderboard.
06:23Mo.
06:23Craig has 600 points in first place.
06:26In second place is Rob.
06:27With 500 points in third place is David with 200 points.
06:32Time, folks.
06:33We are through with football.
06:34But when we come back, we got the Mike and Mo halftime show.
06:38And more baseball coming up.
06:40Yes.
06:41You are watching.
06:45Nick Gas.
06:46Let's open up the playbook and learn from the pros.
06:50It's a games and sports trade trip.
06:53Hey, guys.
06:53I'm Mark Lisi, professional soccer player.
06:55We all love to score goals, but sometimes we need a little assistance.
07:20Today's trade trick is all about the cross.
07:22First thing in getting off a good cross is spotting your target.
07:34If you see an open teammate stretching the middle or sideline, you want to make sure you
07:37lead him enough so the ball meets him at the right point.
07:40Once you spot your man and begin your pass, you want to get your foot planted.
07:45You want to bring your opposite foot parallel to the ball and plant it solidly.
07:48Without good footing, you won't strike your ball as cleanly as you'd like.
07:51And finally, you want to get your kicking foot under the ball.
07:56In order to get the right arc on your pass, you have to lift the ball off the ground by
08:00getting as much of your foot underneath it.
08:06After you've got the fundamentals down, there's one thing I like to do, and that's no look.
08:09This is going to cause problems in defense because they think I'm passing one way, I'm playing
08:15it the other way.
08:19Do all this and you're sure to get passing great.
08:24Stay tuned to Nick Gass for more trade tricks.
08:27My name is me, and my sport is basketball.
08:37Practicing is my life.
08:39That's how you get better.
08:40If you don't practice, then you'll never be able to play.
08:44I practice against my shadow because my shadow does everything I do.
08:48And because if I can beat it, I can beat anybody.
08:53You can do anything when you put your mind to it.
09:02Now back to the ultimate test of courage.
09:08Nickelodeon Guts.
09:08All right, folks, welcome back to Guts.
09:19It's the Mike and Mo, a halftime show and a very special big help edition right here.
09:24And we have with us from the National 4-H Council, that's Emily.
09:29We have from Earth Force, Lara.
09:31And we have from Youth Service America, that's Mike.
09:35Now, all of these organizations are about youth empowerment.
09:38Could you guys tell us a little bit about each?
09:40Why don't you go first, Emily?
09:424-H is a youth organization which helps the community by building the youth of today
09:48to become the leaders of tomorrow by teaching them to keep their ambitions high
09:52and to make the best better.
09:53All right, and Lara?
09:55Well, Earth Force is a national organization that tries to teach kids about the environment
10:00and try to teach them how to take action on the Earth's behalf.
10:03And how about yourself, Mike?
10:04Well, Youth Service America believes that the way we can solve our nation's problems
10:07is by really getting young people involved in the community.
10:09So we work at the local, state, and national level
10:12to ensure that every young person in America has the opportunity to serve in their communities.
10:15Terrific. It is a pleasure to have you here today.
10:18And, Mo?
10:19Yes, well, let's give everyone who helps a big Extreme Arena chair.
10:23All right, folks, working for some important causes.
10:33Thanks for being here today.
10:34Mo, I know you've got to get back down to the field and get ready for our next event.
10:38And, guys, while you're here, why don't you tell Rob to...
10:42Spill your guts!
10:45Hi, I'm Rob the Rocker, and I like in-line skating a lot.
10:48I also like basketball and street hockey.
10:49I'd like to meet Wayne Gretzky because he's an awesome hockey player.
10:51And remember, Rob is playing for Earth Force,
11:01an organization dedicated to environmental education and public service.
11:05Mike.
11:06All right, well, trying for an inside-the-park home run has never been tougher.
11:10It's Extreme Baseball.
11:11Let's take a look at what our players are going to be working on the base pass today.
11:15They're going to start right here across the Ken Griffey Jr. swing,
11:18up to first base, and then down this slide right here.
11:20Out to slide into the pads, up that walk line right there, and down the fire pole.
11:25Then through the tire crawl.
11:26They've got to get out of this one because the third base coach is waving them on.
11:29They're up that column, onto the airbag, boom!
11:32Up the cargo net, and then doing a knee-on-deon slide into home.
11:36Let's go to Mo for the rules.
11:37Mo.
11:37Mike, each of our players will be timed from the batter's box to home plate.
11:41They must complete each obstacle before moving on to the next one.
11:44Best time wins.
11:45On your mark, get set.
11:47All right, so this is a prime chance for David.
11:50As he hits a deep drive, way, way, way, way, way, way back.
11:54And standing up out of that elevated first base, you see him going to second base down the fire pole.
12:01And he'll get into the tire crawl next.
12:03And I'll tell you, folks, the outfielders are trying to chase that ball down.
12:07But David is a speedster.
12:08David, a man who can steal bases with fleeting speed, showing his amazing strength.
12:14He gets up that column right there to our elevated third base.
12:19He really needs a good time in this event.
12:21As he rolls out of the airbag and the outfielders throw.
12:23Looks like the left fielder has the ball, but he's dropped it.
12:26Center fielder comes over.
12:28Left fielder, I don't know, he's lost his head.
12:30He's trying to grab his hat.
12:32Here's the throw to the cutoff, man.
12:34Here's the pivot.
12:35The turn, the play, the play.
12:36He's safe.
12:37He's way safe.
12:39Let's go to Mo and get the official time, Mo.
12:41David clocked in at 42.4 seconds.
12:44Excellent work for David right there.
12:46And he really needed a fast time to set the pace because he had 200 points going into this event.
12:50We'll see what Rob can do.
12:51On your mark, get set.
12:54Deep drive way back.
12:57And there is Rob as he sets his pace.
13:00You see the time to beat right there.
13:02And Rob's going to really have to hustle.
13:04He's got a quick start, which is important.
13:06That quick start will keep his confidence up as he tries to negotiate these obstacles.
13:10And speaking of this negotiation, look at him farrow through that tire crawl right there, folks.
13:16This is where the agility comes into place.
13:18We've got to negotiate different types of obstacles.
13:21They've got to go from running to sliding to crawling to climbing.
13:26These players really need to make all aspects of their athletic capabilities work in this event.
13:31Arm strength, leg strength, speed.
13:34As you see right here, the cargo net giving Rob a little bit of trouble.
13:38He's leaning a little bit off to the side, but he continues.
13:40Here's the slide.
13:41Here's the throw.
13:42Here's the play.
13:43Oh, folks.
13:44Very, very close there at the end.
13:46Let's go to Mo and find out the official time.
13:48Rob clocked in at 43.6 seconds.
13:51Okay, so David's still holding on to the lead right now.
13:5442.4, the time to beat.
13:56Here's Craig.
13:57On your mark, get set.
13:59They call Craig Littleman.
14:02He may be a little bit shorter than our other players, but, folks, he's in first place with 600 points right here.
14:07And a little hesitation rolling out of the pad, but good strength up the walk line right there.
14:12He's down the fireball, and he's already past second base with 12 seconds.
14:17And right out of the tire crawl, rolling right out.
14:19Not helping his team.
14:22He's got great speed as he makes it up the column right here.
14:25Good concentration.
14:26And the column right here gives a lot of our players trouble, but he has no problem spinning right around.
14:31You see him rolling out of the airbag right now.
14:33It looks like another victory if he can get up that car grenade with no trouble.
14:38And straight up he goes, folks.
14:39It's going to be close.
14:40Here's the throw.
14:42Here's the slide.
14:42Here's the play.
14:43Save.
14:45And I believe another 300 points.
14:47Let's go to Mo for the result.
14:48Mo.
14:48Yes, Craig clocked in at 39.5 seconds, putting him in first place, David in second place, and Rob in third place.
14:57Take a look at the replay right here.
14:59Craig, right down the fireball.
15:01He needed a quick start.
15:02That kept his confidence up because he really needed to hustle.
15:06Right into the tire crawl.
15:07Look at him diving right through there.
15:10Dove right through.
15:10Got a good leaping ability right through the tire crawl.
15:13And then continue to pull himself through.
15:15Doing a little hang time there.
15:17Falling on his back.
15:18But he rolled right out of it.
15:20And you see these guys very excited at the end of that event.
15:23Let's go to Mo and check out our leaderboard.
15:24Mo.
15:24Craig is still in the lead with 900 points.
15:27In second place is Rob with 600 points.
15:31In third place, David with 400 points.
15:34All right, folks, and yet again it is time for Spill Your Guts.
15:40Hi, my name is Craig Little Man Rankin.
15:42I'm 14 years old.
15:43I love to play all sports.
15:44I love to play soccer and golf.
15:46And most of all, I love a good challenge.
15:54Craig is playing for Youth Service America,
15:56which is committed to community improvement and civic participation.
16:00Mike.
16:01All right, thanks, Mo.
16:02Well, you're breaking in on John Van Beesbrook.
16:04You deke left, you deke right.
16:05You want to take a slap shot.
16:06Well, the net is moving.
16:07You shoot, you're going to want to score.
16:09Let's go to Mo for the rules.
16:10Mo.
16:11Mike, each of our players will have 60 seconds
16:13to maneuver around the obstacles
16:14and try and score as many goals as possible.
16:17The player with the most goals wins.
16:19Players, on your mark, get set.
16:22All right, right now, Purple has a perfect game on the line.
16:24That's Craig in purple as our players try to make their way down.
16:28You see Red going in for the score
16:29and a score right there for Rob in red.
16:32As you see a follow-up with Little Man, he's in purple.
16:35Our players must consider timing, accuracy, and stick handling
16:39as they make their way around those obstacles.
16:42Another shot by Rob and another score right there.
16:45And he's a little bounce off as Blue.
16:47That's David in blue.
16:49Seemed to have popped out of the goal right there.
16:51You can see Rob still trying to...
16:53Now, remember, folks, the net is moving,
16:55so you've got to have a really accurate shot right there.
16:58You see Craig right there completely overshot the goal.
17:01That's where the accuracy shooting into the goal is important.
17:03Looks like another one goes in right there for David.
17:06With 20 seconds left, you can see our players
17:08all at different portions of this event
17:10on their drive into the net
17:12trying to control the stick handling
17:14and get the puck around the obstacles quick enough
17:16so that they can get a good shot.
17:18Now, you can go right up to that net
17:20and pop the puck right in there.
17:22As you see, another score by Craig.
17:24He's got the perfect game on the line here
17:26going into this event.
17:27You see him hustling back.
17:30And at the buzzer there,
17:31none of our other players close enough
17:33to take a shot right there
17:34with the obstacles in their way.
17:35So you just see how important it is
17:37to get right up close
17:38as those nets are moving
17:39to get a good shot.
17:40We'll go to Mo and get the results.
17:41Mo.
17:42Craig and Rob tied in first place
17:44with three goals each.
17:46And in third place is David with two goals.
17:51Take a look at the replay right here.
17:53The stick handling right here for Rob.
17:56Terrific work and a little dump right there
17:58into the net with a nice score.
18:01And then Craig with the game on the line here.
18:03The perfect game on the line, I should say.
18:05He puts another one in right there.
18:07Good finish for him.
18:08And we will go to Mo and check out our leaderboard.
18:10Mo.
18:10Well, now Craig has 1,200 points in the lead.
18:14In second place is Rob with 900 points.
18:17In third place is David with 500 points.
18:20All right, folks.
18:21We're down here on the floor.
18:22We played four events,
18:23but the most important event is coming up.
18:25That's the Mega Crag.
18:26What do you think is going to happen on the Crag?
18:28I'm going to win this one.
18:29All right.
18:29You got the perfect game on the line here.
18:32How about yourself, my man?
18:33It's all mine.
18:34All right.
18:34Now, Rob, you did good work in that last event.
18:36You tied first place.
18:37Who's going to take the Crag in your point of view?
18:39Me.
18:41All right, folks.
18:41That's right.
18:42We got the Crag coming up.
18:44So you stick around.
18:45That big mountain's coming up.
18:47The Mega Crag.
18:48Our biggest challenge yet.
18:50Stick around.
18:51Guts.
18:52You are watching...
18:53Nick Gas.
18:56Ultimate Test of Courage.
19:03Nickelodeon Guts.
19:12Oh, yeah, folks.
19:13Welcome back to Guts.
19:15I do believe we got a perfect game on the line.
19:17Let's go to Mo and check out the leaderboard.
19:18Mo.
19:19Yes, Mike.
19:19Craig in purple has 1,200 points after four events.
19:23In second place is Robin Red with 900 points.
19:27In third place, David and Blue with 500 points.
19:31That's a look at where they stand.
19:33Now, let's take a look at how they got there.
19:34And they started off on the vertibog.
19:35And you watch the pushing right here as David makes his way down.
19:40The face plant slanting across.
19:43And our first place finish for our first first place finish.
19:46That's right.
19:47For right here, Craig in purple.
19:49As he makes his way through the fog, goes right into mogul mania.
19:51You see on the nerve curve right there, he had a little bit of trouble.
19:54But he regained his confidence.
19:56And we go into our touchdown event right there.
19:58Great aim and accuracy for Rob in red.
20:01Watch this right here.
20:02Never say die.
20:04That's Craig for another first place finish in that event.
20:07He had a tie right there with our red player.
20:09Rob, a stand-up triple.
20:11David didn't slow down on this event.
20:13Going right up extreme baseball.
20:15All of our players were close.
20:16But as you see, sliding right in here.
20:18Again, Craig, another first place finish.
20:20We go in a slap shot.
20:22And again, another tie between Rob and Craig.
20:26Great poise right there for Rob as he went in.
20:29And then Craig, another first place finish.
20:31300 points as he went back in and scored.
20:34First place, 1,200 points right now, folks.
20:37The competition's about to get even hotter.
20:39In fact, the competition here on Guts is so hot,
20:41our Craig has taken on a new molten color.
20:44That's right, folks.
20:44Now it's mega.
20:45Mega large, mega sharp, and mega challenging.
20:48From its very core, the shard zone has erupted into a tangled mass of petrified lava.
20:54And now as our players try to make their way up to the top of that crag
20:57and fight through that labyrinth of smoke and snow,
21:00they will now encounter Stone Ledge, a horizontal rock climb,
21:04trying to prevent our players from locking in at the final actuator.
21:07Also, while our players climb, they will trigger obstacles like snowstorms, floods, and nuclear flying crystals.
21:15And as they stand at the base of that mountain,
21:17getting ready to take on their greatest athletic challenge,
21:20they will hear the sound and fury of a dormant volcano ready to blow.
21:25I hope our players are ready.
21:27Let's go to Mo.
21:28Players will start at the sound of my whistle.
21:32Each player has an identical side of the mountain to climb
21:35and may not cross into another player's path.
21:38Now, during their climb, our players must light up each of eight targets located on their side of the crag.
21:44The first player to activate all of the targets, including the final one at the peak of the crag,
21:49will receive first place points.
21:52Mike?
21:52So, over Craig's shoulder, you see our mega crag.
21:55He's our leader.
21:55You take a look at David right there.
21:57He's getting fired up to climb.
21:58Will it be David?
21:59Or will it be Rob in red?
22:01The number one sign from Rob?
22:03Or will it be our leader?
22:04That's Craig.
22:05With 1,200 points, he has a perfect game on the line.
22:08Guts history.
22:09A potential all-star.
22:10If he locks in on the actuator at the top first,
22:13who's going to get the Guts gold?
22:15We're about to find out.
22:16But let me remind you that the points, they have skyrocketed in this event.
22:19Third place being worth 375 points.
22:21Second place, 550.
22:23And first place, 725 points.
22:27Someone's getting to the top of that crag first.
22:29Somebody's going home with the Guts gold and a glowing piece of our radical rock.
22:33We're ready to kick this off.
22:34Let's go to Mo.
22:35Mo!
22:36Players, on your mark, get set.
22:40And so with that thundercloud storming,
22:43our players, the whistle blows,
22:45and they begin to climb up Boulder Canyon
22:47as the nuclear flying crystals rain on top of them and try to slow them down.
22:51There's our leader, Craig, in purple.
22:53As he makes his way up, you see right there, in blue, that's David.
22:57David, a little hesitation, as with Rob, as they make their way through the shard zone.
23:01But it looks like way out in front, way out in front is Craig.
23:04He's at Stone Ledge.
23:06He's been in first place all day long.
23:08He conquers the crag at the top.
23:10Number one.
23:11We're going right here for a second-place finish.
23:14And it looks like Rob has missed an actuator.
23:16He goes back down and hits it at Stone Ledge.
23:19Second place in the crag is David.
23:22And then Rob.
23:23These guys are off the top of the crag.
23:26Let's go to Mo for the results.
23:27Mo!
23:28In first place, on the Mega Crag, Craig in purple.
23:31In second place, David in blue.
23:34In third place, Rob in red.
23:36All right, so we take a look at the replay.
23:41The challenge here for Craig was to get to that top of the crag as fast as he could
23:45and hold on to this perfect game.
23:48And as he makes his way through the shard zone, you can see the smoke and the snow
23:52trying to stop our players from finding their way to their next actuator.
23:56Rot and Rob in red right there, a little bit confused.
23:59Craig way out in front.
24:01He's at the top of Stone Ledge.
24:02We see now Stone Ledge, he powers himself up and over.
24:07Great arm strength, locking in with first place points.
24:11725 of them, folks.
24:12A fantastic performance for Craig here today.
24:16Guts history, another perfect game.
24:18Let's go to Mo and check out our final leaderboard standings.
24:20Mo!
24:21Here they are, Mike.
24:22In third place today, David in blue, 1,050 points.
24:26In second place, Rob in red, 1,275 points.

24:52Playing for Earth Force and taking home the silver will be Rob.
