00:00We visited 6 by Nico in the Merchant City to try their latest six course tasting menu inspired by
00:05outer space. This is currently running until the 14th of November. We chose the wine pairings which
00:11start from course two, though we swapped our last two pairings for the cocktails. Started with a
00:16delicious aperitif and snacks taken from the renowned chippy menu, a parmesan fried potato
00:22stick with truffle butter, it was delicious. Then there was a surprise course to cleanse the palates
00:27which was served on a spinning device. Course number one was outstanding, a wee canopy of smoked salmon
00:33and caviar. I also really enjoyed course two which involved hot potatoes served with these coal eggs.
00:39There was also a bowl of chicken crumb and egg. Then course three was reminiscent of a biopack,
00:45it was ham hock served with 12 garnishes. This was very fun as every bite of the ham was different,
00:52a great talking point as we discussed flavors which is what a tasting menu should do. Then on to black
00:58hole. You are blindfolded and giving noise cancelling headphones to eliminate senses. This was fun however
01:06the dish was cuttlefish which neither of us were keen on. In retrospect I would have swapped this dish
01:11for a vegetarian alternative, it did also make my teeth black. Though it did ignite a lengthy conversation
01:18on what black holes are which was interesting. Then the solar flare, we both enjoyed this one,
01:23an ox parcel with beef and emulsions. Very flavorful. And then goodbye earth was dessert,
01:29we loved this. There is custard and cream and what I believe to be white chocolate. I've been to Six
01:34by Neuqua a few times now and this was probably my favorite menu I've had. I like how interactive it
01:39was, the dishes were creative and flavorful and for the most part consistently enjoyable.
