00:00Just as the digitalization of the polling process was critical in ensuring fast, free, and fair elections,
00:05the integration of government operations, transactions, and services with the digital sector
00:10is the sure pathway to transparency and the reduction of corruption in the bureaucracy.
00:15Earlier today, the Department of Budget took a huge step forward towards such end
00:19with the inking of its Project Dime deal, as our Denise Ossori reports.
00:24A memorandum of understanding has now been formally signed between the Department of Budget and Management,
00:31Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Transportation,
00:36Department of Education, and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority
00:40for the rollout of the Digital Information for Monitoring and Evaluation, or Dime, Project.
00:47The project is designed to guarantee greater budget transparency and accountability in government works,
00:53very much in keeping with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:58DBM Secretary Amena Pangandaman noted that while the idea was first floated back in 2018,
01:03it's only now that the wheels are finally in motion.
01:25In its opening phase, 11 departments jumped on board with the intent of eventually covering all infrastructure projects under the General Appropriations Act.
01:35Also joining the effort are the Philippine Space Agency, the National Mapping Resource Information Authority,
01:41the Department of Public Works and Highways, and the University of the Philippines, Project NOAA.
01:46At the same time, officials carried out an inspection of the Tripadigalina Pumping Station, the largest in Metro Manila,
01:53where the MMDA has hauled away thousands of tons of waste.
01:58Pangandaman underlined that the project will only hit its mark with a whole-of-government approach, and the public makingin as well.
02:41Pangandaman also gave a quick demo of the DIMES system,
02:45showing how the public can see at a glance the status of government projects and flag any irregularities.
