00:00The Budget Department will roll out Project Dime on August 27 using drones and satellites to track infrastructure projects and allow public feedback,
00:07as flooding woes persist despite billions in flood-controlled budgets.
00:11Vel Custodio tells us more.
00:14Flooding is a constant problem for Danny whenever heavy rain pour.
00:18He complains over the project meant to address the issue, whose ipak are barely felt.
00:23He hopes that government will focus completely on solving this problem.
00:35Eh, paano gagawin mo doon? Nasaan gumagawa yun? At doon siya nagpapagawa?
00:39To ensure the government can monitor the actual progress or accomplishment of projects,
00:44the Department of Budget and Management will launch a Project Digital Information for Monitoring and Evaluation or Project Dime on August 27.
00:53Sisimula muna yan sa mga infrastructure projects kasi it's something that can be easily seen by the people, no?
01:06Line by line po, makikita nyo doon.
01:08The DBM works with various agencies, including the DICT, DPWH, and UP Project NOAA for the program.
01:17According to Budget Secretary Amen na Pangandaman, the public may also participate in updating the status of the project.
01:58President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier called for an investigation into allegedly anomalous flood control projects.
02:06In the President's budget submitted to the House of Representatives yesterday,
02:11P81 billion is proposed for the Department of Public Works and Highways for fiscal year 2026.
02:17Although DPWH ranked second-largest among the proposed budgets,
02:21the amount is still lower than the P3 trillion allocation in the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
02:44Flood control projects reduced by P80 billion for next year compared to this year's budget.
02:50Meanwhile, the DPWH still has P400 billion left in its budget this year, which remains valid for two years.
02:58The government assures the budget will be allocated properly.
03:02Meanwhile, an agency performance review will be conducted on August 20 to monitor the programs and projects of government agencies,
03:09checking to see if they are truly felt by the public and whether the completed projects meet the proper standards.
