Blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, has been sentenced by the High Court to 30 days’ jail for contempt of court in a defamation suit filed by former inspector-general of police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

00:07Lumpur High Court to 30 days jail for contempt of court in a defamation suit filed by former
00:14Inspector General of Police Tanshri Razarudin Hussein.
00:18Judicial Commissioner Gantek Cheong delivered the sentence on Wednesday after hearing submissions
00:23from both parties in the committal proceedings brought by Razarudin, who argued that Wan
00:29Muhammad Azri was insincere in his apology to the former top cop.
00:34The court sentenced Wan Muhammad Azri to 15 days in jail for the first breach of the injunction
00:38earlier this year and another 15 days for a second breach in May.
00:43The court ordered the sentences to run consecutively, meaning the blogger will serve a total of 30
00:48days in prison.
00:49However, the court granted a stay of execution pending his appeal.
00:54The court also ordered Wan Muhammad Azri to pay RM30,000 in costs to Razarudin within three
01:00to four days.
01:02The case is related to a RM3 million lawsuit filed by Razarudin against Wan Muhammad Azri over
01:08alleged defamation, whereby the alleged defamatory remarks also mentioned Prime Minister Datuk
01:15Shri Anwar Ibrahim.
