00:03ang nakakaranas ng tinatawag na quiet quitting
00:06kung saan unti-unti nilang binabawasan ang kanilang effort sa trabaho
00:11dahil nararamdaman nilang sobrang hinihingi sa kanila
00:15pero kulang po ang pagpapahalaga.
00:17Ano nga ba ang tunay na dahilan nito
00:19at paano ito nakaka-apekto sa ating mental health at career growth?
00:24At upang sagutin ang mga katanungan niyan
00:26at magbigay linaw susupin na ito ay makakapalihan po natin

00:38Hello, good morning, Ma'am Diane and Sir Odd.
00:41At sa lahat ng mga nanonood at nakikinig ng Rise and Shine, Pilipinas.
00:45Thank you again for joining us this morning, Dr. Joan Olay.
00:48Pakidetali nga po ano pong ibig sabihin itong quiet quitting, Doc?
00:52At bakit ito po ay nagiging trend sa mga young professionals po ngayon
00:56Yes, Ma'am Diane.
00:59Ang pulling quitting, as you mentioned, it's a phenomenon
01:01kung saan ang mga employees ay nagkakaroon sila
01:05na ng detachment, disengagement from their work mentally.
01:09So, hindi siya by quitting, hindi siya yung actual resignation.
01:13So, yun ang kailangan i-clarify natin.
01:16Hindi sila nagre-resign but they quietly, parang they do the bare minimum.
01:21Hindi sila nag-go over and beyond sa kanilang mga rules.
01:26And responsibilities, they avoid mga, they stick lang sa halimbawa
01:30kung ang schedule nila is 8 to 5.
01:32They stick lang to the schedule but they do not do overtime
01:35because, as mentioned kanina doon sa intro ninyo,
01:39may mga reasons for this.
01:40And usually, it's among the younger generations
01:44kasi sila yung, alam natin, the youngest, di ba, sa workforce.
01:48So, sila yung given muna, na, yung wala masyado pang challenges,
01:54leadership roles sa kanilang trabaho.
01:57And ito kasing younger generations ngayon, Ma'am Diane, Sir Audrey,
02:00sila yung mas naghahanap ng purpose and meaning sa kanilang mga ginagawa.
02:05So, that's why hinahanap nila yun sa kanilang trabaho, challenges, growth, opportunity, leadership roles.
02:12And usually, kasi pag sa younger, ano muna tayo, na, sa entry-level position.
02:17So, that's why, mas, ano, mas, um, nare-report sa kanilang age group.
02:22Dan, the mga Gen Xers, na, yung, kasi sila yung mas matagal na sa kanilang roles.
02:27So, they have more, ano na, experience.
02:30Kaya sila nandoon, nasa, mas stable na ang kanilang sense of purpose and meaning
02:35na nakukuha from their jobs.
02:37Hmm. Well, Doc, paano nakaka-apekto itong quiet quitting sa mental health naman
02:42at yung work-life balance ng isang young professional?
02:47Sir Audrey, pag nagkakaroon na sila ng ganito, ano, na, emotional disengagement,
02:54hindi na sila masyadong motivated, they don't feel that fulfillment already,
02:59ay nagkakaroon ito ng impact sa kanilang productivity.
03:02So, maaaring they don't push kasi, ano, hindi sila nagpupush to do more.
03:08So, maaaring productivity-wise ay hindi masyadong maganda, na-apektohan na.
03:13Sometimes, they would miss deadlines or in terms naman sa performance nila,
03:18may absenteeism, tardiness, at nagko-contribute ito sa, of course,
03:25nakaka-apekto ito sa total or overall performance ng office or ng group nila.
03:32So, nakaka-apekto ito sa kabuuan.
03:35So, and that's why, really, mas maganda alam natin kung ano ba yung mga warning signs
03:40na ang isang employee ay nagkakaroon na ng itong disengagement or quiet waiting na tiyatawag.
03:47Okay. Well, Dr. Joan, we believe naman na these are valid emotions, ano,
03:51kapag nagkaroon ka ng emotional disengagement na parang I feel hindi ako masyadong motivated sa work.
03:57So, how do you work around these emotions?
03:59Kasi kung ako rin naman yung rank professional, gusto ko purpose and meaning,
04:03at di ko tunahanap sa current work ko, ano yung mga pwede kong gawin?
04:07Pero ayoko naman din talagang mag-resign kasi may mga bills to pay ako.
04:11So, what are your recommendations on how can I work around all these emotions that I'm feeling right now
04:15sa isa pong young professional?
04:16Parangyuan, Ma'am, Diane, all of these emotions are normal and valid ito at kailangan itong pakinggan ng management.
04:26So, maganda, ang work around here is communication dapat is very important na sana there is a safe space
04:33na na mapo-provide ang mga companies, ang mga offices to have these open lines of communication
04:39kung saan may nagkakaroon ng chance, lahat, to say kung ano man ang mga emotions sila
04:45and provide sana ang mga offices ng opportunity also for growth.
04:50For example, provide sila ng mga trainings to keep the momentum going para sa mga mas younger generation,
04:58leadership role, siguro kung maaari also.
05:02And ang sana ay meron also mga mental health programs na incorporate sa mga offices to
05:08sana boost, to give that work-life balance para sa ating mga employees.
05:14Kasi, Ma'am, Diane, very important pa rin na, di ba, ang always dyan is, yes, there's work
05:19and we need to be physically, emotionally, mentally present sa trabaho,
05:24but wag also pabayaan yung ating work, life beyond the offices.
05:30So, work-life balance is very important.
05:33At dito pa pasok ngayon, yung mga wellness programs, team building activities,
05:37studies have shown, Ma'am, Diane, ha, na pag nagti-team building,
05:41nakaka-boost ito ng overall productivity performance.
05:45Kasi nagkakano siya, eh, parang it boosts teamwork,
05:49open lines of communication,
05:52nagkakaroon ng operation within the office.
05:56Well, sinasabi naman, Doc, no, ng ibang employers, well, kung ayaw mo pala dito,
06:03eto yung rules namin, eto yung nila, umalis ka na lang, magquit ka na lang,
06:06kaysa binibigay mo yung bare minimum mo lang, no, sa effort mo sa pagtatrabaho.
06:11So, pag-usapan naman natin, Doc, yung character ng isang young professional na nagsasagawa nito.
06:19Hindi kaya, maari rin natin ituro ito sa kanyang character development
06:23or sa kanyang foundation bilang isang professional?
06:26Kasi yun ang nakasakawian ng medyo nakatatandang henerasyon na
06:31minsan nga medyo nasasabi nila na,
06:33ay, yung mga, ano ngayon, mga Gen Z, parang gusto lagi lipat-lipat ng trabaho,
06:38bakit wala ba silang gaanong discipline sa work, gano'n ba?
06:41Di ba, may narinig din natin yung, Doc, di ba?
06:43Well, kung ikukumpirin natin nung nakarang mga generation,
06:46pagbinigyan kasi sila ng trabaho, dahil ilan lang ang trabaho nun, eh, no?
06:51O ilan lang ang opportunities talagang inaalagaan, talagang halos magpakamatay sa trabaho.
06:55Generation graph na ba ito, Doc, John?
07:00We can look at it from a standpoint na ang per generation,
07:06meron mga kanya-kanya unique na characteristics na nabibring nila to the table.
07:12So, meron din silang mga magandang, ano din,
07:16they are very creative, for example.
07:19They are open to learning, open to rules, open to challenges.
07:24Kaya ito sila yung grupo na pag napapansin natin,
07:27naghahanap talaga sila if the work is, ano, ano, may purpose,
07:31it brings joy, fulfillment, meaning sa kanilang buhay.
07:35Kaya kung kayo ang employer naman,
07:39then we find strategies or ways para mahanap nila yun sa trabaho also.
07:46Because, again, it's always a balance,
07:49kasi magkakaiba ang ating traits, character traits per generation.
07:54But, tandaan din natin na itong mga Gen Zs,
07:58na the youngest in the workforce now,
08:01meron din silang unique na style na dinadala also,
08:04na positive sa trabaho.
08:06Ayan.
08:07Maganda yung mga suggestion kanina ni Doc John, ano,
08:10na mag-provide ng safe space
08:13para magkaroon ng magandang komunikasyon yung both employers,
08:17at saka employees,
08:18saka mga growth opportunities for the Gen Z.
08:22Saka importante rin yung sinabi ni Doc John may kanina,
08:24yung team building.
08:26Nagkakaroon ito ng camaraderie,
08:28saka solidarity among employees.
08:31So, pag may team building, sasama ka.
08:32Lagi naman, lagi naman.
