00:48This is what the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth assured the public

00:53It is now time to discuss the zero subsidy of the agency under the National Budget for next year.

01:00In the hearing of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability,

01:04PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Emanuel Ledesma, Jr.

01:09agreed that they have enough funds so they will continue their service.

01:13As of October 2024, PhilHealth holds a surplus of 150 billion pesos

01:22and a total reserve of 280 billion pesos,

01:27complemented by an investment fund nearing 490 billion as of November 2024.

01:37These figures clearly demonstrate that PhilHealth is financially robust,

01:44well-positioned to sustain operations,

01:47and fully capable of addressing the healthcare needs of our 115 million members.

01:54Despite the fact that the Department of Health holds PhilHealth,

01:57the agency also assured that there will be no subsidized operations,

02:00except for a few.

02:02PhilHealth has a lot of money,

02:04more than the reserve fund ceiling allowed by the law.

02:08The board approved yesterday the higher benefit

02:14and a budget for PhilHealth in 2025

02:18that recognizes that PhilHealth should spend more

02:23so that the families will spend less.

02:27The Congress was the first to accept the criticism

02:30because of the lack of funds in some agencies

02:33such as PhilHealth and the Department of Education

02:36under the 2025 budget proposal.
