Attorney General Pam Bondi was asked about US cooperation with Mexico in investigating and targeting drug cartels during a press briefing about the guilty plea of Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada Garcia.

00:08saying the U.S. government should collaborate with Mexico to understand
00:11how the U.S. authorities bring El Mago Zambada, because for them it's not clear yet.
00:17What's your answer on that request?
00:19Well, first we want to thank the Mexican authorities for all of their help
00:23in bringing all of these cartel leaders to justice.
00:29We're not going to comment on any of the specifics of any investigation,
00:33but we have brought, under Donald Trump's direction,
00:36we have brought more cartel leaders to justice than any other administration in this nation's history.

00:45Why did he put the death penalty off the table on his case?
00:48So, Mexico, I've done this my entire career as a prosecutor when dealing with Mexico.
00:54We cannot seek the death penalty. We've always known that,
00:56and that's an agreement that we've had with Mexico.
00:59When we get them to our country, that includes many others.
01:03This guy's 78 years old, but he will live like he's on death row.
