00:00What may look like a simple roadside eatery in Sarawak is in fact operating as a front

00:05for 24-hour online gambling dens, Warren Zamasukading MP Morty Bimo.

00:11In rural areas, there is an issue of this Kedai Kuning.

00:16Kedai Kuning is basically a kedai makan with a yellow signboard with some funny-funny names.

00:27But then they only serve megi and of course drinks.

00:34But then they open 24 hours and basically they are selling tokens for the online gambling.

00:42First seen in Kuching, Morty said the outlets have since spread beyond the city,

00:46even reaching rural areas where they operate alongside small grocery stalls.

00:51Morty questioned how such businesses were able to secure food and beverage licenses

00:56and voiced his frustration at being repeatedly redirected by local councils to district offices

01:01when raising the issue.

01:03Morty added that the illegal dens are devastating families, trapping adults,

01:08students and even elderly women in debt and urged the government to enforce stronger laws

01:13to stop the spread of the trend.

01:15Recently, Home Minister Saifuri Naswityan Ismail acknowledged the problem,

01:19saying that between January and July, authorities carried out 509 raids in Sarawa, resulting in 535 arrests.
