00:00All right, so let's talk about what the Democrats often don't talk about, and that is what kind
00:09of agenda do we need to address the needs of a struggling working class?
00:16Now today, again, we don't talk about it much, but it is a sad reality.
00:23While the richest people in America have never ever had it so good, 60% of Americans are
00:32living paycheck to paycheck.
00:35You got it?
00:37Some of you are living paycheck to paycheck, yes?
00:40All right, I grew up in a family that lived paycheck to paycheck.
00:44I know something about it.
00:48And what paycheck to paycheck is about is you wake up in the morning and you say,
00:53how am I going to get through the day or how am I going to get through the week?
00:57How am I going to pay for the decent food I want to make sure my kids are able to eat?
01:04What happens if my landlord raises my rent by 20%?
01:09Where am I going to live?
01:10I can't afford rent right now.
01:11I'm going to have to take my kid out of school.
01:13What happens?
01:14What happens if my car breaks down and the mechanic tells me it's a thousand bucks to
01:20get it fixed?
01:21And what happens if I don't have that thousand bucks and millions of people don't have that
01:25thousand bucks?
01:26Can't fix my car.
01:27If I can't fix my car, I can't get to work.
01:31If I can't get to work, I get fired.
01:33If I get fired, what happens to my family?
01:37What happens if my mom is sick and she can't afford the prescription drugs?
01:41Or my dad has to go into a nursing home?
01:44Or maybe I have to pay for childcare for my kid and I can't afford all these things.
01:50The result of all of that is that tens of millions of people in this country are living
01:58under incredible stress.
02:02And you know what stress does to the human mind and the human body?
02:07It kills us.
02:08That's exactly right.
02:10Now one of the disgraceful things that we don't talk about much that's going on in America
02:15is despite all of the money we spend on healthcare, I'm going to get to that in a second, despite
02:20all of the expenditures we have in healthcare, our life expectancy, how long we live, is four
02:28years shorter than people in other wealthy countries.
02:31Got it?
02:32But you know what's even worse?
02:34And it is never discussed.
02:37Working class people in America live lives that are seven years shorter than wealthy people.
02:48Why is that?
02:50Tell me one.
02:52Give me an example of what I'm talking about.
02:54All right.
02:55Raise your hand.
02:56Tell me what that is about.
02:57Yes.
02:58Stand up.
02:59Tell me more about it.
03:01What does that mean?
03:02All right.
03:03All right.
03:04You got cancer.
03:07The truth is I did.
03:08Yes.
03:09Woman right here.
03:11All right.
03:16You can't go to the gym because it requires some subscription.
03:19You can't get healthy food.
03:20You can't go to the doctor when you should.
03:23You have to live under those conditions day after day, month after month, year after year.
03:32What the doctors tell you.
03:33There is an expression.
03:35It's called the physiology of poverty.
03:38Physiology of stress.
03:40It impacts your heart.
03:41But it results in a whole lot of diseases, which is why working class people die significantly
03:47younger than the rich.
03:49That ain't right.
03:50Not only is that not right, it is criminal.
03:53We deserve it.
03:54We deserve it.
03:55We deserve it.
03:56We deserve it.
