Tens of thousands of people have marched in support of ending the war in Gaza at rallies across the country. The organisers of the event in Brisbane say it was one of the biggest in the country, but there's some dispute over the crowd numbers.

00:00According to organisers of the rally in Brisbane, there were 50,000 people on the streets.
00:08But Queensland Police say the actual numbers were a fraction of that, more like 10,000.
00:13The protesters started gathering in Queen's Gardens in the Brisbane CBD just after one
00:18o'clock.
00:19They quickly filled that area and then spilled onto the surrounding streets.
00:24Those are the images and those are the numbers that Queensland Police say they're relying
00:28on to arrive at their 10,000 figure.
00:30They say they know for a fact that 7,000 people can fit inside Queen's Gardens and then when
00:37they account for that bit of spillover, they arrive at the 10,000 figure.
00:41So a bit of discrepancy there.
00:43The police have largely praised the crowd, said it was very well behaved or everyone at
00:48the event was very well behaved.
00:50You have to remember as well that the people taking part in this march had to take a slightly
00:55different route from the one that was originally planned.
00:59Organisers wanted to take the event across the Story Bridge, perhaps mimicking the event
01:04that was held in Sydney a few weeks back.
01:06But Queensland Police tried to block that and ended up having that successfully blocked through
01:11a court process.
01:13Organisers rerouted the event, took it from Queen's Gardens, as I said, to Musgrave Park in
01:20the Brisbane CBD, largely well behaved.
01:23There were several counter protests along the way.
01:27One man was taken from the scene or escorted from the protest by police for allegedly snatching
01:33a Palestine flag from one of the protesters.
01:36need a
01:57trouble.
