00:00Well, the streets of Melbourne have been brought to a standstill again.
00:04There are tens of thousands of people here taking part in what is nationwide rallies,
00:10marches for Palestine.
00:11We've heard from organisers who say this is the 97th consecutive rally in this city
00:17for Palestine, and they're calling on much of the same things they did the first time.
00:21They want, as they say, the injustices to stop in Gaza.
00:25There's been a big focus on the starvation that's happening and the impact on civilians,
00:29particularly children.
00:31They say that today there's been a real cross-section of support from unions as well as LGBT and
00:37disability groups and people from just general walks of life coming together to protest against
00:43what is happening.
00:44What they really want is the Australian government to sanction Israel and to withdraw support
00:49for the Israeli government.
00:51But here's some of what those who have come here today said to me.
00:55There's a groundswell and I think the government has to see that the people really care and
01:02the people want change.
01:03I think the fact that our government has changed over time is because of these things and if
01:08we continue to do it, it will put more pressure on our governments which will then put more
01:13pressure on the world governments and put pressure on Netanyahu.
01:17So the message from those here today is that they will continue to turn up, they'll continue
01:21to protest and fight for Palestine.
