USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley discusses how the depth on the line of scrimmage has improved
Transcript
00:00What's the biggest thing you're doing this spring compared to last spring,
00:02that even this early in week one, you're seeing the dividends paying off?
00:08That's a good question.
00:11You know, I would still say the depth on the line of scrimmage
00:16that we've worked, obviously, to recruit, develop, you know, train,
00:21you just feel that a little bit more kind of each and every year.
00:24There's more good players, there's more depth, there's more competition,
00:27there's more size. That's probably the biggest thing that I can point to right now.
00:33It's a good group. You know, practices have been really competitive
00:36like we would expect up to this point.
00:39You know, there's not really new systems being implemented
00:41like there were, obviously, defensively last time last year,
00:44so you feel a little bit of difference there in terms that we're, you know,
00:48a little further ahead than certainly the beginning of last spring.
00:51Xavier Jordan was a big recruit for you guys a couple of cycles ago.
00:53Where does he stand and kind of what do you want to see from him this spring?
00:56Yeah, he battled some injuries last year, had some growing up to do,
01:01but he's, you know, it feels like he's starting to come out of that a little bit.
01:06He's made some plays.
01:08He's a very athletic, explosive kid that no question can help our football team
01:13on both offense and special teams.
01:15He's got to, you know, continue to grow up, continue to be consistent,
01:20but all the tools are there.
01:22So he's off to a good start.
01:23He's made some plays for us early on in spring, and he's just got to keep going.
01:26But, you know, with our depth right now at receiver, it's a great opportunity for him.
