00:00Sir, first of all, welcome to AINX.
00:02Thank you, sir.
00:03And, sir, it's a very intense film.
00:07So, Aakwe is going to there mentally.
00:09It's not prepared for a number.
00:11He's going to the division.
00:13Vivek, sir, had a huge hand in me preparing for this character to start with.
00:20You know, there's an iconic character for Bengal, for India.
00:26And, you know, huge responsibility I felt while I was portraying this character.
00:33So, you know, you think of your art as well as of the character.
00:41Because the character existed.
00:43And its impact is huge.
00:47So, it was that responsibility and Sir helped a lot.
00:51So, now people are saying that it's very good.
00:54So, I also think it's very good.
00:56Sir, how nervous and excited are you in Bali?
01:01I was very nervous, sir.
01:04A small story.
01:07My first scene was with the great Anupam Khet, sir.
01:11And I remember, like, a lot of artists were there.
01:15And I remember, Anupam sir, you know, telling me, you know,
01:21that my name is Saurav.
01:23I was like, let's do it.
01:24Let's do it.
01:25Let's do it.
01:26Let's do it.
01:27Let's do it, sir.
01:28Let's do it.
01:29After that, I started stammering like stammering.
01:32I also realized that I was very nervous.
01:36So, after that, Sir said, I didn't say,
01:38but I told them I had two weeks.
01:41I told them what I was doing.
01:42I told them that I am doing this.
01:45In Bengal, when I was an intense character,
01:48I was listening to music.
01:50Okay.
01:51My music was there.
01:53I had a theme music.
01:54I had to listen to them.
01:55So, I went to the side,
01:58and I was rehearsing.
01:59So, I thought that now,
02:01I have come all the way from Bengal.
02:04I'm doing a Bollywood film.
02:07I can't let my people down, the people from Bengal who loves me, who just likes me, but
02:15they know that our people are here, they are working, so I can't let them down, so that
02:22is why I concentrated, I was rehearsing, after that I started rehearsing, thinking Anupam
02:29sir is there and then I went on the floors and I thought I have to do it now, what happened
02:36sir, and I still remember Vivek sir was looking at me, he said very good, sort of, and Anupam
02:44sir told Vivek sir, you are better in it, so I will die with it, sir, who was the serious
02:52personal musti nesti no way you should do it, so my instinct was shooting days were not that
03:01much, so I had a lot of tension and nervousness but it was such an impactful and intense scenes
03:13So, that was not fun, that was not fun, but when I was leaving for Calcutta after my shoot was done, I told sir thank you so very much for trusting me with the character and yeah, I was a little teary-eyed, I remember, and that's it, I mean, it's emotional, as well as Bengali people are a little more emotional, they always know, so it will be fun after release, when you hit it, it will be fun.
03:43So, for me, it was the one that was fun.
03:45What was the challenge in this film and what was your challenge?
03:52I don't know the challenge, but what was the thing, I guess, Gopal Mukhajji, the character that I played, I researched on him, I came to know things which I was not aware of.
04:13I was aware of the character, but the whole research that I did, the hero that he was, and you know, it took time to sink in that we, Bengali, should celebrate Gopal Mukhajji more, I feel.
04:34So, this is why I was enlightened about the character and I was very proud of the character of the person and I am proud to be a Bengali because of Gopal Mukhajji.
04:48But the only thing that I can say is, he was a very righteous person that I researched on, that I came to know.
04:52How can you relate to a real character or a real character?
05:22You know, for me, it's like white should be white, black should be black. Staying in the grey zone, I do not like that. In everyday life, you have to leave. People tend to get into the grey zone.
05:38But that is what I want to try and keep watching black and white. This is Gopal Mukherjee's character.
05:51You know, as I said, I own the character now. I think I am a part of him. So yeah, it's huge for me.
06:01I don't want to comment on things that I don't know in depth. So I would want to not answer that question.
06:18I don't know much about it as I said.
06:25If people will be there to say no, people will be there to say, he could have said maybe.
06:33So as a judgment, because we are in that profession, I can't complain about that.
06:38I do not know much about it as I said. In depth, I don't know. So I can't comment on that.
06:51But for me, I am an artist. I can play any character that I want to. I will play a heroic character. I will play a character who is very negative.
07:12But what I would want to do as an artist, I want to portray absolutely perfectly. So that if I play a negative character, I would want people to abuse me.
07:29If I play a character, a very heroic character, I would want people to lord me. As simple as that.
07:35Sir, in Bengal, what are your reactions?
07:43It's very good. The reactions are very good.
07:46I know that there is a lot going on. But talking about the art point, looking at the art of it, the making of it, my character, people are loving it.
08:01I was in a Bengal tour and people were clicking pictures. They were like looking outstanding as Gopal Mukherjee.
08:12We would want to see Bengal files. So, you know, when you do something, you vote for it. I lost my voice.
08:19There is a video somewhere in the internet while I was doing this while I was playing the character. I lost my voice. So, yeah, an artist goes to what extent to portray a character, I feel.
08:34And I just want to say that people are very good.
08:41Do you think that the truth is not the truth and the truth is not the truth?
08:49I don't think so.
08:52If it is rightly put, I feel people will watch it. As simple as that.
08:57If it is rightly executed, people will watch it.
09:01What is the truth?
09:03What is the truth?
09:04Now, we are working in Hindi cinema. So, what is the difference between Bengal cinema and Hindi cinema?
09:10Usually, we say that the content of regional cinema is king.
09:14Especially, we have seen stories, Chopar Bari, Renko, Bengali cinema.
09:19Right.
09:20So, we have seen regional cinema in Bollywood.
09:23So, I feel like that there is a lack of tourist in Bollywood.
09:27So, I have just started in this industry. I can't be commenting on that. But I can say, the only difference that I saw, the set, you know, the amount of people involved in a proper Hindi film is huge compared to us.
09:47We make a film. Like, I can talk about my industry. We make a film. And like, nowadays, we make a film in like 15 to 20 days. People can't think about that. You know, either, but having said that, I don't think any industry can make a film in 15 to 20 days as in a proper film.
10:09So, I am very proud of my industry.
10:11What is your dream about Mithunda's work? What do you think about your final reaction?
10:17Sir, Mithunda is a universal dad. And he is an iconic character. I watched him, grown up. But sadly, unfortunately, I couldn't share screen space with him in this film, maybe some other time.
10:36But it's lovely to think that Mithunda is also there in a film where I am a part of.
10:42Okay. What is the set for your swag? What do you want to share behind the scenes?
10:48Sir, as I said, it's not much fun. But a lot of time, I would want to also mention Pallavi Ma'am. She also spent a lot of time, you know, looking after my look to create the look of Gopal Mukherjee.
11:04So, at that point, it was a bit of a joke. It was a bit of a week. It was a bit of a week.
11:16So, yeah, that was, like, I feel that is part of the game. And I had a lovely time shooting for Bengo Files with Viveksa, Pallavi Ma'am, everyone, the whole team, the full team.
11:28Yes.
11:29Yes.
11:30Yes.
11:31Yes.
11:32Yes.
11:33Yes.
11:34Override?
11:35Yes.
11:36Yes.
11:37Sir, I am too small to answer to that. As simple as that.
11:39Yes.
11:40I always answer this question in Bengal as well. Or who may not be able to hear from Khan.
11:52Sir.
11:53Yes.
11:54Yes.
11:55Yes.
11:56Yes.
11:57Yes.
11:58Always, sir.
11:59Always in for any creative craziness that the director thinks of.
12:03Yes.
12:04Yes.
12:05Yeah.
12:06Yes.
12:07i would want to work with as many directors as possible sir here i want to make a mark here
12:21and the genre uh it has to be intense jaysa gopal mukherji or bengal files
