00:00We've been talking about grace as a verb instead of a noun.
00:21It seeks us out and gives us what we need the most right this minute.
00:29What every relationship needs is the touch of grace, which is triggered when you show gratitude to the other person.
00:40Gratitude is magical as it dissolves resentments and removes obstacles.
00:49But the magic really comes down to a basic fact.
00:53To have a fulfilling relationship, you have to relate.
00:58There is an unbroken back and forth between you and the one you love.
01:05The things you give and the things you receive are the life of the relationship you share.
01:13Giving is most powerful at the emotional level.
01:18If you give appreciation and thanks to your partner, your words are metabolized in the brain through chemical changes that have a beneficial effect on both of you.
01:28The world's wisdom traditions have always known that the giver benefits just as much as the receiver.
01:41Think of the difference it makes when someone is thankful that you are in their life.
01:47It soothes the heart and nips petty grievances in the bud before they have a chance to do harm.
01:57Relationships flourish when we are able to offer ourselves to one another with unlimited love, compassion, kindness, and understanding.
02:10This ideal is impossible to reach without expanded awareness.
02:17Our own desires and ego needs stand in the way.
02:22But your true self knows better.
02:25Grace accomplishes what the ego cannot.
02:30You aren't lowering yourself when you give totally.
02:35You open instead to infinite awareness, which can accomplish anything.
02:42On the other hand, when you stop giving and receiving,
02:48the flow of grace is constricted, like water forced to run through a narrow pipe.
02:56Grace can keep the flow open, even when you are anxious and doubt that your relationship is as perfect as you once dreamed.
03:09Be grateful here and now.
03:12Don't indulge in the illusion of an old dream.
03:18The real potential is waiting to be awakened.
03:23When you allow yourself to be grateful, you form a bond with your partner that heath separation.
03:31This is how relationships can weather any and all difficulties when two are one.
03:42As we prepare to meditate together, let's take a moment to consider our centering thought.
03:51Gratitude flows in a loving relationship.
03:57Gratitude flows in a loving relationship.
04:07Now let's prepare for our meditation.
04:11Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.
04:16Begin to be aware of your breath and just breathe slowly and deeply.
04:24With each breath, allow yourself to become more deeply relaxed.
04:32Now, gently introduce the mantra, Namaste.
04:38This mantra means, I recognize my true essence in every soul I meet.
04:46This recognition is a wave of love and grace.
04:51As you repeat the mantra, let your heart open and feel this love honoring the divinity in everyone.
05:00Repeat it silently to yourself.
05:04Namaste.
05:06Namaste.
05:08Namaste.
05:10Namaste.
05:11With each repetition, feel your body, mind and spirit open and receive just a little more.
05:20Whenever you find yourself distracted by thoughts, noises or physical sensations,
05:29simply return your retention to silently repeating the mantra.
05:35Namaste.
05:37Namaste.
05:38Namaste.
05:39Namaste.
05:40Namaste.
05:41Namaste.
05:42Namaste.
05:43Namaste.
05:44Namaste.
05:45Namaste.
05:46Namaste.
05:47Namaste.
05:48Namaste.
05:49And when it's time to end, you'll hear me ring a soft bell.
05:55Namaste.
05:58Namaste.
06:01Namaste.
06:19Namaste.
06:31Namaste.
06:35Namaste.
